Nazif Burak Sezgin is a bank teller at HSBC since 2011. Both parents are from a small village in Paphos, Cyprus but moved to Nicosia in 1974 and are currently residing there. He was born on the 10th of September 1986.
In 2004, he enrolled to at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), in Famagusta to study the English language for a year. He later decided to apply to Canterbury Christ Church University for International Foundation Program
(IFP), where he was accepted. He successfully completed the program and gained an experience in the UK. Once back to Cyprus, in 2007, he registered at Near East University for a BA degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Along with his studies, Nazif decided to get a job at an IT company where he had the chance to practice his passion for computers. His tasks included fixing computers, CCTVs as well as periodic hardware and software maintenance.
After three years, he decided that it is time to learn something new that would help him with his university degrees. He was accepted at Kiyal Tahir LTD., one of the biggest local automotive companies in Nicosia as a part time employee.
He was initially in charge of the accounting department of the company but he managed to climb his way up after only 3 months. His manager offered him a full time job where he was in charge of the stock orders, arranging the shipments, imports as well as learned the use of diagnostic tools for cars and trucks. His curiosity to learn more, led him to be the first person to install Engine Control Units in North Cyprus.
In 2011, along with some friends, they were offered to found a new Rotaract Club. Rotaract Club Kyrenia St. Hilarion was founded on 2011 and Nazif was the Vice president for that year. In 2012 he was voted president and he got the chance to make a difference in the society. His leadership skills and management of the club let to the club to win 3rd place for the European Rotaract Information Centre Twin Club Award amongst many European clubs
candidates.
2012 was also the year that he decided that he should get some experience in the field that he studies. He started working at ONAR Holiday Resort, a 4 star hotel in Kyrenia as Assistant Director. Some of his duties were arranging allocations and reservations, finding new customers, and running daily reports for the director.
In January 2013, he got a great opportunity when he was accepted at HSBC as a bank teller. Wanting to expand his knowledge in the business field, the same year he also started his Masters Degree of Business Administration (MBA).
The professional environment of HSBC motivated him to want to know more about the banking sector and so he managed to be chosen to attend training at the HSBC Academy, in Turkey. Over exceeding the targets of the job managed to put his name in the spot for the year 2014 as well as the beginning of 2015.
In April 2015, he attended a training called “Who wants to be an Entrepreneur” organized by ERASMUS+ and Naturkultur, in Limassol. He had the chance to work with young people from Cyprus, Turkey, Macedonia, Malta, Greece, Germany and Slovakia and improve his leadership, strategic management, etrepreneurship and presentation skills. He is now a qualified trained on entrepreneurship.
Nazif is a confident person that enjoys learning new things, cultures, and people every day. He enjoys helping people who are in need in his free time and welcomes involvement in social service projects.
