I would like to point out that not everyone here is in a plush job earning 5-7 figures a year and trivially able to throw down 100 euros they can find between their couch cushions.

I, Myself, am not one of those people. As such, I have been suspended and am unable to afford such a large sum for the foreseeable future. If it was 10, 20, or even 50 euro, I would scrape it together, no issue. But 100 is just too damn much for me.

In my home country of Australia, I am on what is known as a Disability Support Pension, I have been told, point blank, by the pension agency (Centrelink) that work is optional for me due to the degree of my disability. I have tried working, but the stress of it causes me to just snap and go coco bananas, so it is officially out of the question.

I'm not asking for life on a silver platter, just for a fair go for all, as I thought was a founding principle of this thing.

But now it's just like all the terrestrial nations, the rich get their go and the poor get less than nothing.

If this thing is truly built as a fair go for all, the citizenship fee should be discounted for people on welfare/pension in their terrestrial nation. But if it's just a richie McRich club, then I am done. I readily accepted the constitution, but thanks to this citizenship fee, I am now treated like a non-person anyway, so I may as well just stay earthbound.

When my citizenship expires, it will stay that way unless things change here.

The creation of Asgardia is only taking its first baby steps as of now. But when it is complete, humanity itself will have taken a colossal step.. I wish to promote the general interest of science to unlock new possibilities and endeavors that wait for Asgardia within my community. We need to become more advanced using innovation and expanding our knowledge with the possibilities of technology. I will be the one to listen to the people and make things happen to ensure a prosperous locality and establish a scientifically literate future.

I may be young, but that should never undermine my commitment and passion for a better future of humanity in space. I am always determined to initiate an objective, and see what we can achieve in the end.

Hello fellow Asgardians.

After reading about the launch of the Asgardia Kingdom of Space during the launch of the first satellite, and even as those around me could find only comedy in its launch, I decided I would join. For me I saw hope, mission and future. As the leading world economies and multi-national corporations race for control over space in their typically ambitious and self serving terrestrial way, we ordinary citizens of our failing earth bound so called democracies are at risk of being left behind.

The creation of Asguardia and its democratic citizen body, its physical presence in space in the form of a satellite are our first steps towards claiming our human rights to be involved in the future of our species in space exploration and colonisation in what ever forms these may evolve. I for one, am pleased to be able to take part in a grass roots level movement to secure a future in space for all humanity and not just a tiny elite faction.

My personal interest in a movement for space settlement came about when I was doing a masters degree researching ancient urban planning in South America, and wanting to see if any ancient planning designs from geographically and environmentally challenging areas could be used in the designing of space colonies. Unfortunately, my university was unable to accept such a visionary proposal and I was forced to remove that aspect from my thesis. Now 15 years later and the proposal of space colonisation is an accepted possible future. I still believe that if we do not present workable space urban settlement designs now, then the first colonies will be organised as military style bases, which will not help the psychological adaptation of the first colonists to strange off world environments. Human space colonies, whether on worlds or off-worlds will need to hold a psychological connection to the Mother Earth and her human history, and this connection needs to be built into the design of the settlements, at least to begin with.

I hope that in Asguardia there are the visionary people that are needed to create an alternative way forward to the stars. I see this as a first step for the generations that follow, and congratulate all who are taking part in this great scheme. If one is to believe the bible, the story goes that all the people laughed at Noah, but in the end his crazy scheme saved the world from destruction. That’s what I thought the day of the launch of the satellite as the people around me laughed.

So let’s use all our skills, knowledge and influence to make a new home in space and to protect the one we have now.
