Regrettably, the unfortunate news persists. Just a few days ago, I sadly shared on the Asgardia blog about the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Roland Berga. Today, we received the news of the passing of Firouz Naderi, an Iranian-American trailblazer in space science, at the age of 77. He was highly respected and well-known in Iran, representing those who migrated due to political turmoil in previous decades and achieved remarkable success in advanced technology. Dr. Firouz Naderi, an Iranian-American space pioneer, dedicated over 35 years to NASA, progressing to senior management positions. Hailing from Iran, Dr. Naderi moved to the United States to pursue his PhD at USC. In 1979, he embarked on his NASA journey as a communications engineer at JPL, swiftly earning admiration from his superiors. Dr. Naderi managed some of NASA's most iconic robotic planetary missions, including Mars Odyssey, the Mars Exploration Rovers, and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. As director of solar system exploration from 2000 to 2016, he oversaw many successful Nasa missions. In recognition of Dr. Naderi's extraordinary contributions, NASA named asteroid 1989-EL1 "Nadri-5515" in his honor. Alongside receiving NASA's Outstanding Leadership and Distinguished Service medals, he held membership in the esteemed National Academy of Engineering. A genuine pioneer in space exploration, Dr. Naderi made history overseeing NASA's robotic ventures on Mars and into the unknown. His remarkable journey demonstrates that immigrants from all backgrounds can pursue their dreams of becoming scientists and engineers with perseverance and diligent effort. Sadly, Dr. Naderi passed away in 2023 at the age of 77, yet his groundbreaking achievements and mentorship of future leaders will endure.

For centuries geopolitics have shaped the destiny of this small blue planet, floating in space. Nations have risen and fallen based on geographical power and influence. Countless lives have also been lost and many have suffered because of geopolitical tensions, conflicts and instability. However, a new era of Technopolitics is dawning, driven by technological advancement and innovation. Technological progress is going to transform the political landscape. Astropolitics - the politics of space exploration, colonization and governance - is expected to become increasingly important in the future. Astropolitics is a political concept that arise from human activities in outer space. As more governments, companies and organizations become involved in space, some questions about the use, ownership and management of space resources will need to be addressed. In this new frontier of Astropolitics, Asgardia stands as a new hope to help establish peaceful and ethical norms of behavior that serve all of humanity. Asgardia aims to showcase responsible governance and leadership in outer space for the benefit of people on Earth. Founded in 2016 by Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli with a declaration of independence, Asgardia aims to be a peaceful and positive force, operating under the rule of law and dedicated to the service of all humankind. While Asgardia currently lacks the financial and technical resources of governments and large companies, it has the potential to operate as an important entity in Astropolitics through democratic representation, ethical principles and cultural diversity. A key strength lies in Asgardia's goals for democratizing space. By granting citizenship to individuals worldwide, Asgardia aims to represent the interests of all humans, rather than benefiting just a few governments or corporations. This more democratic approach could help shape Astropolitics in a way that benefits humankind as a whole. Another potential strength is Asgardia's Constitutional supreme values that emphasize serving all humanity without bias. The Article 4 of Asgardia Constitution establishes principles of freedom of speech, democracy, justice, human rights and rule of law as supreme and timeless values that are not tied to any particular ideology or interest group. If Asgardia can truly uphold these principles as the foundations of its governance - prioritizing peace, justice, diversity and service above self-interest - it could become a beacon for establishing ethical norms in Astropolitics that transcend political and economic considerations here on Earth. Also, Asgardia's vision of a multicultural space nation embracing citizens from all walks of life may give it unique cultural legitimacy. By reflecting the diversity of Earth, Asgardia hopes to represent humanity as a whole in outer space. Recent years have shown that Asgardia remains united despite conflicts on Earth, indicating that it is not unduly influenced by terrestrial politics. The Unity of Asgardia was in no way affected by the wars, political conflicts, regional policies and economic imbalances of the last few years. Even the Corona Pandemic could not disrupt Asgardia's performance. I personally believe that if Asgardia follows its originality, which is emphasized in the supreme values of its constitution, it can play a role as one of the bright spots in the history of humanity. Although it currently does not have the financial and technical resources to compete with countries and large space companies.

برای قرن‌ها متمادی ژئوپلیتیک سرنوشت این سیاره آبی کوچک شناور در فضا را شکل داده است. تمدن‌های زیادی در تاریخ براساس قدرت و نفوذ جغرفیایی به‌وجود آمده یا از میان رفته‌اند. در این میان انسان‌های بی‌شماری نیز به دلیل تنش‌های ژئوپلیتیکی، درگیری‌ها و بی‌ثباتی آسیب دیده‌اند. با این حال، عصر جدیدی با عنوان تکنوپولتیک در حال طلوع است که توسط پیشرفت فناوری هدایت می‌شود. پیشرفت فناوری این پتانسیل را دارد که چشم انداز سیاسی جهان را دگرگون کند. بر این اساس می‌توان انتظار داشت که استروپولیتیک(سیاست فضا محور یا سیاست رسیدن، بهره‌بردای و حکمرانی بر فضا) در آینده اهمیت فزاینده‌ای پیدا کند. استروپولیتیک مفهومی سیاسی‌ست که به فعالیت‌های انسان در فضای بیرون از زمین و روابط سیاسی حاکم بر آنها اشاره دارد. در دورانی که مرتباً دولت‌ها، شرکت‌ها و سازمان‌های بیشتری درگیر فعالیت‌های فضایی می‌شوند، سوالات و ابهامات در مورد استفاده، مالکیت و مدیریت منابع فضایی به‌وجود می‌آید که باید مورد توجه و بحث قرار گیرند. اکنون که در دوره شکل‌گیری و ظهور استروپولیتیک هستیم، اسگاردیا می‌تواند امید جدیدی برای ایجاد هنجارهای رفتاری صلح‌آمیز و اخلاقی باشد که فضا را در خدمت جامعه بشریت قرار دهد. هدف اسگاردیا ایجاد حکومت و رهبری مسئولانه در فضای بیرونی زمین به نفع تمامی مردم این سیاره است. اسگاردیا که در سال 2016 توسط دکتر ایگور آشوربیلی با انتشار بیانیه وحدت آن تأسیس شده، جامعه‌ای از علاقمندان به زیست فضایی‌ست که تلاش دارد بعنوان نیرویی صلح‌آمیز و تحت حاکمیت قانون عمل می‌کند و همه توان خود را وقف استقرار نوع بشر در فضا کند. در حال حاضر که اسگاردیا فاقد منابع مالی و فنی قابل رقابت با دولت‌ها و شرکت‌های بزرگ فعال در امور فضایی‌ست، اما جامعه اسگاردیا این پتانسیل را دارد که به عنوان نهادی مهم در زیست‌بوم استروپولیتیک جهانی از طریق نمایش جامعه‌ای دموکراتیک مبتنی بر اصول اخلاقی و تنوع فرهنگی نقش، مهمی ایفا کند. به نظر نگارنده، قابلیت‌های بالقوه اسگاردیا را می‌توان در موارد زیر جستجو کرد: اولین نقطه قوت کلیدی اسگاردیا هدف متعالی آن برای دموکراتیزه کردن فضاست. اسگاردیا با اعطای شهروندی خودی به افرادی از سرتاسر جهان، نشان داده‌است که نماینده منافع همه انسان‌هاست، نه تنها چند دولت یا شرکت محدود. این رویکرد دموکراتیک می‌تواند به شکل‌گیری سیاست‌های فضایی به نفع کل بشریت کمک کند. دومین نقطه قوت ، ارزش‌های متعالی ذکر شده در قانون اساسی اسگاردیاست که بر خدمت بدون تعصب و تبعیض به بشریت تأکید دارد. ماده 4 این قانون اساسی آزادی بیان، دموکراسی، عدالت، حقوق بشر و حاکمیت قانون را به عنوان ارزش‌های عالی و جاودانه اسگاردیا تعریف می‌کند. این ارزش‌ها مرتبط با هیچ ایدئولوژی یا منفعت گروهی نمی‌باشند. اگر اسگاردیا در عمل بتواند از این اصول به عنوان پایه‌های حکومت خود - با اولویت دادن به صلح، عدالت، تنوع و خدمت فراتر از منافع شخصی – پیروی کند، می‌تواند به محوری برای ایجاد هنجارهای اخلاقی در استروپولیتیک جهانی تبدیل شود که از ملاحظات سیاسی و اقتصادی زمینی فراتر رفته است. همچنین، چشم انداز اسگاردیا بعنوان یک کشور فضایی چندفرهنگی که شهروندانی از همه قومیت‌های زمینی را در بر می‌گیرد، می‌تواند به آن جذابیت فرهنگی منحصر به فردی بدهد. با انعکاس تنوع انسان‌های سیاره زمین، اسگاردیا امیدوار است بتواند نمایندگی کل بشریت را در فضای بیرون از زمین به عهده بگیرد. رویدادهای سال‌های اخیر نشان داده‌اند که اسگاردیا علی‌رغم درگیری‌های متعدد زمینی، متحد می‌ماند و تحت تأثیر سیاست‌های بی‌ملاحظه زمینی قرار ندارد. همبستگی اسگاردیا به هیچ وجه تحت تأثیر جنگ‌ها، درگیری‌های سیاسی، سیاست‌های منطقه‌ای و بی‌تعادلی اقتصادی سال‌های اخیر قرار نگرفته است. حتی همه‌گیری کرونا هم نتوانست عملکرد جامعه اسگاردیا را مختل کند. شخصاً معتقدم که اگر اسگاردیا بر اصالت خود که در ارزش‌های متعالی قانون اساسی آن نهفته است پافشاری کند، می‌تواند در آینده به عنوان یکی از نقاط درخشان تاریخ بشریت ایفای نماید. حتی اگر در حال حاضر منابع مالی و فنی لازم برای رقابت با کشورها و شرکت‌های بزرگ فضایی را اختیار نداشته باشد.

Dear Asgardians, It is with great sadness that we informed about the passing of our esteemed colleague, Roland Berga. Roland was a devoted member of the Asgardia Parliament, the Information and Communication Committee and several other committees. He was ardently supporting Asgardia's noble goals and mission, generously offering his knowledge and expertise for the advancement of the Asgardia. Roland was also a valued colleague and friend. He attended the meetings of the Information and Communication Committee with his great spirit and warm feelings, and we always enjoyed his presence On behalf of the Information and Communication Committee and also the society of Persian speaking Asgardians, we extend our deepest condolences to Roland's family and loved ones. His dedication to Asgardia and his cheerful, gracious spirit will not be forgotten. Though he is no longer with us physically, his contributions have helped move Asgardia forward and his memory will live on in our continued work. We will miss Roland dearly but take comfort in knowing he lived his life in service of a noble cause and in bringing light and hope to others. May he rest in peace.
