Asgardia is the first ‘space nation’. It is described as ‘a fully-fledged and independent nation, and a future member of the United Nations’. The Asgardia Project Team is made up of experts from around the globe. Dr Igor Ashurbeyli, is a well known and respected Russian scientist and founder of the Aerospace International Research Center (AIRC) in Vienna. He is the chairman of UNESCO’s ‘Science of Space’ committee.

Dear Head of Nation, Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli

We, the undersigned, would like to see Asgardia's first Hackathon.

We feel that an incorruptible voting system would be a huge resource for the world and propose it be the subject of the hackathon.  We propose that web developers from all over Aasgardia compete in a hackathon, which if nothing else will be good for publicity and may produce a marketable resource for Asgardia.

The subject of the hackathon will be a voting system, which Asgardian web developers will plan, test and implement.  During the hackathon a team of volunteers will participate in logged votes and hackers will be invited to attempt to corrupt the outcomes.

Voting is an essential aspect of democracy and our faith in our voting system must be absolute for Asgardia to truly succeed. We hope the outcome of the hackathon will be a voting system which has proven the test of worldwide hackers, which will add credibility to Asgardia as a collective entity representative of, and responsible to, the desires of it's individual citizens.

Should any voting platforms meet full criteria they should be voted upon by a referendum until a winner is chosen for commercial purposes and entered into consideration for implementation as Asgardia's voting system.

Voting platform criteria:

- The site must display individual issues to be voted upon with their current calculated results, and collect user's votes. A user should be able to modify their vote.

- The site requires a sitemap which displays all issues, with calculated results as links to the appropriate pages.

- The site requires user accounts with password that can be reset if forgotten.

- User accounts should hold age range, sexual orientation and ethnicity and geographic region only to test the results.  These statistics should be private to everyone but the user themselves, who should be able to modify them on a profile page, and the systems operator.

- The site requires an API which can be used to display the result of votes by sub category (age,sex,location,ethnicity,etc) and any combination of sub categories. The API should not release any user details, just the result of that group.

- The site can operate on the server of their choice, assuming they have appropriate access to it.

- The site must display to users what they voted for each issue on their profile page.

Hackathon stages:

Stage 1: hackers will attempt to penetrate the developers network of choice to score points against the dev's.

- 1000 points per user account generated

- 500 points per modified vote

- 100 points per password successfully decrypted

- 25 points per site modification

- 10 points per vote identification (knowing what a user voted)

- 5 points per piece of sensitive information (age,sex,location,ethnicity)

- 1 point per minute downtime

Stage 2: Developers will move their sites inside the same network (or VPN) and hackers will attempt to score more points.

Stage 3: The data the site has been collected will be published and hackers will attempt to score more points.

Stage 4: The site code will be released to the hackers, all files except one which is permitted in order to keep the active site's data secure and must be less than 1KB the hackers will again attempt to score more points.

Stage 4 can only be eligible to Asgardians under Non Disclosure Agreement

In fairness to the developers who will be tested for back-end functionality, not appearance, acceptable sites are restricted to plain text with html only, CSS and Javascript are strictly forbidden, any languages may be used for back-end.

The Asgardian hacker with the most points will be titled "Premiere hacker of Asgardia" who, along with the "Premiere developer of Asgardia" (creator of the site with the least amount of points) should be consulted with by both our Parliament and Government in all aspects relating to use of the internet by Asgardia.

We also feel it would be ideal to hold this hackathon before the parliamentary election.
