Eu creio que aderi algures em 2017, porque vi o link no resultado de um pesquisa no browser e achava que o projecto era uma espécie de piada... 👀 Com o tempo, vim a perceber que até era um projecto sério e, apesar de o achar muito complexo a vários níveis, principalmente a nível legal, achei que participar sem compromisso não me prejudicava e até ajudava a dar corpo ao mesmo. Não sou residente, nem me vejo a ter tempo para participar de forma activa, mas acho interessante ver aquilo em que Asgardia terá viabilidade para se transformar. E vocês?

A lot of good ideas where shared regarding adapting existing sports into zero gravity environment, although that would be good for the transition period for those switching from Earth to Space settle I think that Asgardia needs to have its own sport game, unique and design not only for Zero gravity but for Asgardians. This would give the country a true identity and eventualy will be Earth citizens those who will try to replicate it on Earth. Although I seriously believe that when Asgardia builds its Space Fleet the SpaceX Dragon Capsule will be long outdated, I wonder if such a ship could indeed be used as military transportation and spacecraft for our nation with minor modifications. The first thing that the Dragon has that is extremely interesting is its reusability. It can be launched several times. However, the long turnaround time to reuse it makes it uninteresting for recurrent or emergency missions like rescue or crew transport. The fact is that there is currently no fastly reusable spaceborne vehicle that would allow such operations to happen with a crew. It would be, however, possible to patrol LEO and GEO with fleets of microsatellites and ground-based telescopes. However, if we can produce smaller full-closed cycle engines with high isp values and use advanced materials like graphene in spacecraft building, it isn't unfeasible that one or two-men spacecraft not bigger than modern fighters could be used to intercept and provide maintenance to satellites or other objects close to the Earth. If such craft could have weapons is a big problem from an engineering point of view and a legal point of view. First of all, space is at this moment a pacific place and Asgardia defends the peaceful exploration of space. However, if more countries - mainly earthly states - expand their frontiers out of the planet, it isn't unthinkable that space could turn out to become yet another battleground. The same is applied to a hypothetical hostile alien encounter.

After reading the entire threat of the "Space station" post in this community - I think it is right below this one, but I can't be sure - I've understood that Asgardia has a problem that we really need to solve if we plan to succeed. The problem is: everyone wants insurance so they can trust the government and the government can't provide insurance without the trust of everyone. Earth states face the same problem, but they have a good solution: they can provide insurance because they only need to occupy a location. A space nation like Asgardia does not have the capacity to occupy space freely because... let's just say that human beings are really all that well adapted to the cold hard vacuum outside of this planet's atmosphere. To make a space station, surface base or any kind of infrastructure outside of Earth, we will require three things: industry, research and launch capacities. All those require infrastructure and human resources. We do have human resources - if 1% of all Asgardians were interested in helping, we could gather over 10 thousand workers - but we lack infrastructure. We could acquire earth-based infrastructure but that would require money. And to have money, a state needs taxes. In our case, we have the citizen fee which is some intimidating 100 sol (100€ or $118.65 at the time I'm writing this). However, 100€ isn't exactly pocket money. And even with those 10 thousand workers, we'd only be able to raise 1 million sol (about 1.2 million dollars) which is not nearly enough to build anything close to a space station. It would barely be enough to put a second satellite in orbit. This is what I have named "The Insurance Dilemma". We need insurance to trust the government, the government needs us to trust it to provide us insurance. We absolutely need to solve this if we want to do anything at all. I have some possible solutions, but I'd love to hear more opinions. 1st -> Smaller Fee As I said before, 100 sol is a very big commitment. Bigger than most people are ready to make because we all need to "see more progress than just a simple tiny satellite". I believe that 20 annual sol is a much more down to Earth value than the current 100 sol. And, of course, you'd have the possibility to cancel at any time - you would pay 20 sol and then for an entire year, you have the benefits of being a resident, then you would have to pay an extra 20 sol to retain the benefits - and thus making more people join and, ultimately, generating a steady source of income to the nation. 2nd -> Sit and wait With the development of SpaceX's Starship and the possibility of carrying 100 tons of equipment to LEO for $2000, I believe that we should wait for the finishing of the development of the launch system - SN15 will be launched before summer I believe, and then we'd probably have a couple of test flights until SpaceX is satisfied with the performance of the launch system to make it commercially available - and then the biggest chunk of the price tag of our hypothetical space station would be reduced to 10-20 thousand dollars - I honestly didn't do the math to figure out how much a city in orbit would weight, my bad - so we could focus on the development and construction of the modules of the space station - once the first modules are finished, nothing prevents us from mass producing them for quick expansion. 3rd -> Aerospace Fleet >>>> Space Station Chapter 6, Article 25 of the Asgardian Constitution foresees the creation of a National Aerospace Fleet. That sounds somewhat easier to make than a Space City - several one seat shuttles/fighters launched on top of a Starship sounds like a feasible thing to do - and significantly more useful. Such one or two-man shuttles could be used for fast transportation to the ISS and any other space stations in LEO, as well as satellite maintenance, scientific experiments and even, rescue operations. Again, the development of such vehicles would take time and resources, but considerably less than a city in orbit. But what do you think about this? How could we solve this dilemma and get something truly meaningful out of the drawing board?
