Before we launch into our weekly update, on behalf of all members of Parliament, we wanted to wish Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli a happy birthday. A true visionary, without whom there would be no Asgardia and it would be a big step back for humanity’s journey into space. We wish our Head of Nation a long and happy life in the hopes that he can see his dreams realised. This week we have exciting news about how we do things differently in Asgardia, how to start using our very own currency, Solars, and the preparations for our next physical session in Tallinn (Estonia) in November. Our readers may remember that one of the approved items during our last Parliament session was the change of names for the months on the Asgardian calendar. 54 votes in favour, 45 against and 8 abstentions approved the new version of the calendar. This has been the most divided voting result so far in Asgardia, with a noticeably small difference between the yes and no votes. Chair of Parliament, Lembit Opik informed MPs last week that our Head of Nation, Dr. Igor Ashurbeily, has decided not to issue the correspondent decree and encourage a deeper dialogue, instead, so more MPs can agree on either side of the issue at a later time. This is a very significant sign of how things are done in Asgardian politics, where unity is more than just a word. Also this week, the first transactions with Solars, the internal cryptocurrency in Asgardia, have occurred. A a story written by MP Ugur Aydin was bought by another MP, Kudret Sembil. A second transaction occurred when Ugur sold a figurine to MP Helena A. If you want to test your solars (all Asgardian residents have 100 Solars in their wallets) the way to do it is as follows: - Go to our webpage, Asgardia.space - Search the name of the Asgardian resident you want to buy from (or donate to) - Make sure you see the “new profile view” - Below the picture, name and status you will see the button to add him or her as a friend, and just below, a button for sending solars. - Click on it and you would be able to choose the amount and write a comment if you wish to do so. It could be a good way to start moving items or services within Asgardians. Of course, we are just starting and we can’t “earn” solars (other than receiving donations or payments from other Asgardians) or exchange them by other currencies yet. However, by exploring this option we will start moving in the right direction. Our goal is to create a sustainable, vibrant and just economy independent from fiat money. Finally, in preparation for our physical session in November, our focus is on starting our economy and creating a frame for doing business in Asgardia. The Trade and Commerce Committee has finalized all the processes with their priority legislation with the six Acts that were developed within the committee: - The Asgardia Companies Act - The Asgardia Intellectual Properties Act - The Asgardia Consumer Act - The Asgardia Business Act - The Asgardia Business Grants Act - The Asgardia Tax Act These acts have now been sent to the Parliament Chair and Coordinator for recommendations and approvals. Editing of the Acts will continue as they transition from one department to the next. The business proposal database registry has had another name change as suggested by the Minister, it has changed from Business Activity Development Database to Business Development Activity Registry or BDAR for short. We are very excited about the registry and it is now considered the official registry for Trade and Commerce business proposals and activities. 25 Asgardians already registered within the registry and continue to develop the program as well as assist all those registered with their business pursuits. These are exciting times as we put valuable processes in place that will aid in the future economy of Asgardia. Our motto for the BDAR system is “Developing Business Today for Tomorrow's Future” We should be rolling out our entire BDAR program by the end of this year. Asgardia is living exciting times of growth and development, getting every day a bit closer to our goal. One Humanity, One Unity.
