Expatriation from Earth probably demands a staged approach, starting with something in orbit around Earth, then maybe something on the moon, before reaching out to further destinations. The question is do we want to be a space nation, not tied to any solar body, but to space itself, or a space faring nation, one with one or more planet based territories and space installations?

Today's central day of the XIV Digital Sitting of Asgardia's parliament was very compelling and interesting to observe, with among other very important items, reports of successful new collaborative scientific initiatives and relationships as we forward our fundamental research toward achieving one of our main missions, safe, sustainable childbirth in space, a vital component of long term human survival off-planet Earth. Decree #57 outlines a new philanthropic fund in Asgardia, the Space Child Fund, which contributes directly to the financial support and success of these scientific missions...I am happy to donate to this cause, so close and important to the world and future, as well as to Asgardian hearts!

Fellow Asgardians. My name is Jorge, and I am running to be a Mayor for the Asgardian community in Austin, Texas. I am a user experience researcher and product designer for one of the largest global tech firms. My day to day work is to understand situations that are considered problematic and design a people-centric solution which is goal-oriented and delightful. I, too, have dreamt of living in space. Space is where my mind wanders when I am daydreaming. Visions of a new era for humanity. Images of exploration victories and images of challenging circumstances. I like to believe that I would take the opportunity to go and colonize a planet or a satellite or a human-made structure if the chance is given. But that is probably pretty far away from now. While in my earthly job, I resolve problems daily, the puzzles that need to be solved to build a space nation are beyond my domain. I do embrace the scientists and astronauts devoting their lives to understand how to get out there. How to stay out there and move on even farther and farther. What I want to do is to spread the word. To find ways to inspire people here on planet Earth to think about space. Inspire people to stretch their arms, to try and touch the sky, and to think ahead, visualize the future. I want to preach the idea of forming a nation that belongs to the universe, a future-ready government that protects Earth and Beyond. A country that is driven by science and data. A government that is transparent and inclusive. A nation for all. I want to be a physical representation of Asgardia in Austin, Texas, and represent the Asgardian government for our digital Nation. We had some nice triumphs, and we are learning as we progress and working to improve our systems on every level. I’m looking forward to next year, to what is possible as we grow forward. This is the reality of our race, the steady but arduous effort and “one-foot-in-front-of-the-other” progress that happens between the fanfare and optimism of the start and the success and jubilation of the “ribbon-cutting” finish. There is a lot of hard work happening in the background, not readily apparent to observers, but we’d love to hear from you. Know that we are working on projects to benefit each Asgardian resident, doing so with diligence and attention to our Asgardian ideals. A big challenge, indeed, but a noble and fascinating one. Those of us in parliament and government need you, dear Asgardians, to be with us and assisting us with your support and contributions to see this lofty ambitious project through.
