Currently, I am wearing a VR headset, and I appear to be in a company boardroom, which I have set up for Asgardian meetings. Outside the "window" is a beautiful, modern city. The app called, Horizon Workrooms. Those who are attending can attend by computer, like a Zoom meeting or as an Avatar using an Oculus 2 or Oculus Pro. I attended the last Session of Parliament on the last day, via VR. I believe it is important to keep up with new and emerging technologies.

As a Resident of Asgardia, I filled my duty. I voted both in the HON election and the Referendum on the Constitution.  This is the honor and responsibility of being a Resident. I am honored to be part of shaping a new nation, whether or not history remembers my small contributions. I have attended every session and faithfully voted to the best of my abilities. Why become a Resident? Because you then are able to vote. You may stand for an elected position, and YOU can help to chart the course for this young nation. What is going on?  The system of governance is in place, and functioning. All three branches of government are in place and working hard on your behalf. Next, is establishing an economic structure and recognition. Obviously, a nation needs capital in order to function. We are seeking businesses to be part of our adventure. I am pleased to say, that we have businesses signing on! If you have a business or wish to start one, speak to Minister Dell’s office and they will get the paperwork started!  Recognition? Asgardia has had at least two countries express interest in recognizing us as a nation. The discussions are still continuing. We also are still working to achieving recognition at the UN with some of people who do business there. Asgardia is also becoming widely known in the space community. As you have seen, we had an Asgardian on the Sirius project. All this within five years of our founding. It has been an amazing journey. The journey continues. For our goal, is the stars. The Parliament, is made up of 150 Residents. We are allowed two terms. I hope at the end of my first term, that I will stand for a second term, and that the Residents of Asgardia see fit to grant me that honor and responsibility. Eventually, in order for this monumental undertaking to continue and succeed, we need people of heart and courage to step up, become Residents and lead this nation into the future. I understand the frustrations. You wonder why we are moving slowly. Creating a government from scratch is not an easy task. Starting an economy is not likely to be a simple task. That is why we need you! Once the economy gets going, and the nation has funding, then we can work on the big projects. Sadly, I will not live to see what Asgardia will become. I hope that it will be a beacon to all humanity that we Human beings can raise above our worse nature, come together in Unity, and together create an amazing society. It wouldn’t take much to destroy that dream. Human beings don’t like to change, but we must or we are doomed. Stop hate, come together, listen thoughtfully, debate (respectfully), choose a path and follow it. Remember, just about everything in space, will kill you. Working together, we can survive. Everything you do, just effect you, it effects everyone. No one is unimportant. No job, duty or life, is unimportant in space. It will take all of us to make it work. You can not be, as you where on earth. We will shape humanity in the future. Only, if YOU have the courage to do it now. One Humanity, One Unity!

While I save most of my posts for Asgardia Social these days, I do occasionally come back and blog. I would like to warmly welcome all our new Asgardians to our nation. I am Carol Lynn Lockhart, one of your elected members of Parliament, and a Resident of Asgardia. About now, you are wondering if you were crazy for signing up, or how you can get involved. First, let me tell you, that building a new nation is not easy. Luckily for you, you have a dedicated team that believes in the Constitution and our Core Values. In Five years, we have put together a government, created National Symbols, created laws, and have become recognized in the space community. We have come a long way in five years. Now, this hard working nation stands on the brink of official recognition by two terrestrial governments. We have a Minister who is known at the UN, and we have a bright and glorious future! Asgardia needs heroes. Those who do not watch and then criticize, but those who get up and DO! You don’t go to space on a dream, you don’t wish for a better world, you make it. Your government is established. The next step, is to get our economy going.  What can you do. Whew! Okay I will give you some options, you may chose all, a few or none of them. You may not like them, or think they are too difficult for you at this time. But creating anything meaningful, is usually hard. Citizenship - Pay the Resident’s Fee. I do and I have ever since it was instituted. Because I believe in Asgardia. For five years, the Residents of Asgardia have been heroes building Asgardia and keeping it going. The Residents Fee literally pays for the costs to keep a nation running (see the budget for the Nation and see where it goes). People have complained that Asgardia isn’t moving fast enough. Ahhh….with what do you want us to pay the bills with? Obviously, the more capital we raise, the more services we can provide and investors gain a return on their investment. Basic business 101. What do you get now? An official Resident Identification Card (I have one), a subscription to ROOM, which is Asgardia’s space journal. You recall I mentioned that we are known in the space community? Read ROOM and see the articles from experts in the space industry! As a Resident, you have the right to vote for your elected officials and may run for office yourself. Obviously, anyone who pays the fee and runs for office, believes in Asgardia and it’s mission. Otherwise, you are just a watcher. Time to jump in!  Maybe you are not ready to commit. So, another option is to start a business in Asgardia. We are in the Economic Phase of nation building. StarShop was our first official business. I have personally purchased items from them which are high quality and show off my pride in being an Asgardian. Do you have a business or business plan that you would like to register with Asgardia? Contact Minister Dell for the paperwork. I believe we have six businesses so far and Minister Dell is working on around 100 applications! If you look at the numbers, we have around one million Asgardians. This is an untapped market, so register with Minister Dell now, before you miss an opportunity! Governance - I’m not a politician! Well, neither am I, none the less, I got myself elected to Parliament. As I mentioned, a Resident may run for office.  But there are other levels of government that need to be filled. We need City Representatives and other governmental entities. See Minister Rosel. City Representatives have events in their areas, help Asgardians and, yes, recruit anyone who maybe interested in becoming an Asgardian. Many people don’t even know we exist! The Ministry of Citizenship is trying to lay the groundwork for City Representatives, Regional Governors, etc.  Each job, requires hard work. You can’t just say, “I’m a City Representative.”  I am sure Minister Rosel will want updates. Contact him if you are interested. Why are you here? What attracted you to Asgardia? What do you hope to achieve? We are creating something new, something that has never been done before. A digital space nation (and eventually, a space nation). We were laughed at unmercifully, but that did not stop us. Five years later, we have a nation with a functioning government. We are the future. Fittingly, as we create our own unique culture, our first common word is: OHOU (O - Hoo), it is used by Asgardians as a greeting and a farewell. It means, “ One Humanity, One Unity”, which is the National motto and at the Core Values. When we joined, we agreed to give up hate, bias, and prejudice. We agreed to treat ALL people equally. Hate, is not welcome here. So, if you hate someone for the country they are from, their religion or lack of one, who they love or don’t love, their gender identity, Asgardia is not for you. Together, we can build a brighter future. Hate has no place here, and we will not take it into space with us. We are all human beings deserving or respect and dignity. We are OHOU and every-time we say the first word in the Asgardian lexicon, we reaffirm our commitment to humanity and every human being. If nothing else…if you do not do a single thing in Asgardia…I invite and implore you to live the spirit of OHOU, both here and in your daily terrestrial lives stop hate, wherever you may find it. Let no one here, claiming to be an Asgardian fail in this crucial duty! All human beings of good will are welcome here. All human beings are to be respected and treated with dignity. It is what makes us different from the rest of the world. It is what unites us all with the common goal to enrich all humanity and show them by example that hate can be overcome. Yesterday, I received my Bachelor’s in Business Administration/Management with honors from the Jamestown Business College (a 180 year old business college in my area.) Currently, I am at the University at Buffalo pursuing my Master’s in Library and Information Sciences with a goal of becoming a Reference Librarian at a University.

The short answer is: Asgardia Social. Over there I have been discussing digital libraries. So, if you want to know what I have to say, you should head over there and see what we are up too! I saw the demo presentation it looked amazing!  Hopefully you like my voting record. It is my intention to to run for re-election when my term expires. If re-elected, I hope to join the Culture Committee. Please become a Resident so you can vote or run for an office. Your voice matters. I serve all Asgardians, but only Residents can vote. So please, let your voice be heard by voting. You set the course of Asgardia.  On a personal note. In Asgardia, we are all human beings . One humanity, One unity. On earth, we still struggle with equality and inclusion, with hate and intolerance. Here in the United States, the month of June is Pride month. So, to those who celebrate Pride, have a happy and safe Pride! I thank Asgardia  and am grateful every day for the progressive, inclusive nature of this Nation. We are truly leading the way and showing the rest of the world that loving people for who they are, is beating back hatred in ALL its ugly forms. This Pride, I am also proud of being an Asgardian. Thank you all! You are an amazing group of human beings!! OHOU!

I would like to propose that a committee be created by Residents to create the foundations for awarding educational scholarships to Asgardian Residents for the pursuit of higher education. With a donation button or the ability to go to their page within Asgardia so that donations to a scholarships fund maybe made in Sols or Euros. Further, the community should create for Asgardian Residents an application process for those pursuing higher education. I would like to see awards for Associate degrees, Bachelor degrees, Master’s degrees, and Doctoral Degrees. These should be awarded to any discipline, in Asgardian University or Terrestrial Universities. Asgardia needs qualified individuals in construction, business, the science, education, and more!  Awards should be on merit, open to all Asgardian Residents equally without bias.  I would donate Sols to start the fund so that it can grow and that we can see to the educational needs of Asgardia once the fund is big enough to start being awarded.

I am surprised that there are not more people using Asgardia Social. It is a great platform brought to us by the Information Ministry.  Everyone is missing out on this social media platform.  Asgardians said that they wanted the government to provide services. We have. Asgardia TV, Asgardia Social, and Cosmos is getting closer to coming online. Well, we are giving you digital options…use them!

Ever since the Residency Fee was announced, I have renewed my fee each year. This year is no different. Moments ago, I renewed my Residency. Not because I personally will ever make it to space. Not because I will have a plaque with my name on it or a footnote in Asgardian history as one of the founders. I sign on each year for, HOPE. Take a look at the world around you. Mankind is slowly destroying itself. Hope that we can save ourselves is bleak. The world knows it. Governments and Billionaires are building to get off world. An exodus of the powerful and the elite. The average person on this world will be left behind. Left to clean up their mess or die. Then came Asgardia. We are trying to stop the cycle. To provide normal people with hope. A handful of us has kept the dream going. A handful of us, have kept building until we are at the point of starting an economy!  This year, is YOUR moment. Your moment to become a Resident. So, here I am, trying to get ready for my Master's degree. My old laptop has started to act up, so I have purchased a lightweight Microsoft Surface Pro 7 for college and travel. I have also purchased from StarShop, an Asgardian Sleeve, and vinyl Asgardia sticker, so if I am at college or at an event, everyone will know where I am from and hopefully ask questions. Plus, I support Asgardia whenever I purchase something from StarShop! I am curious, how do you support Asgardia? Are you a Resident? Do you purchase items from an Asgardian business? Do you wear/show Asgardian swag? Do you have copies of ROOM at your house? Do you tell friends about Asgardia? Or are you one of many who just watch everyone else do the work but are not involved yourself? While I would love to see all of you become a Resident and show how much you believe in Asgardia and want to be involved, I know that many of you can't or do not have the courage to follow this Nation into the future. In a previous blog, I mentioned that it is the Year of the Economy in Asgardia. I also warned you that if you wanted to be on the ground floor of money making opportunities, then NOW was the time to become a Resident. There are 1,066,557 Asgardians and only 1,794 Residents. When asked, “Why you are not a Resident?,” The answers vary from “It is too much money”, “What do I get?”, and those who are watching and waiting for us to fail. New flash! We haven’t failed. Asgardia, is a Nation. So for those of you who think that this is all a scam, your wait is over! We are a functioning Nation. Too expensive. Granted, I would prefer if we could offer payments in make paying the fee easier, but that is currently not an option. However, this excuse doesn’t fit over a million people. You really don’t believe in Asgardia and just like watching from the sidelines and complaining. Time to put up or shut up. Then there are those who are in it for themselves. Not what they can do to help found this nation, rather what Asgardia can do for them. This is no longer an excuse to hide behind. A Resident has an ID card, can vote or be elected, gets discounts to many Asgardia events, can shop in Asgardia, attend the E-Academy, have access to almost 400 businesses about to be announced. Be involved in a new VR world that should be announced this year, plus much more.  To get access before the rush, you need to start NOW! 2021, is the Year of the Economy in Asgardia. Businesses are applying to Asgardia...over 400 currently and Minister Dell is gearing up to welcome them all to Asgardia! You said, we couldn’t do it, but we did do it. Now, it is up to you to decide about being an Asgardian Resident with all the rights and privileges that we have to offer....or, are you just going to sit there and watch everyone get ahead of you? I just upgraded my Solar Wallet to the new QTUM Wallet. It is a blockchain system. So I am officially a miner. As long as I can pay my fees and purchase things in Asgardia, I am good to go! The Solar is the digital decentralised national currency of Asgardia. The Solar is built on top of QTUM blockchain solutions, building a fundament for the Asgardian economy. What is a blockchain? A blockchain is a specific type of database that differs from a typical database in the way it stores information. Blockchains store data in blocks that are chained together in chronological order. Decentralised blockchains are immutable, which means that the data entered is irreversible. For decentralised public blockchains, this means that all the transactions are permanently recorded and viewable to anyone. What exactly is QTUM? QTUM is one of the most reliable blockchains in the world. It combines the robustness of UTXO model from Bitcoin complemented with an additional abstract layer, which allows the use of smart contracts. Having over 950 nodes, with one being actually in space, QTUM is one of the most decentralised blockchains in general terms, and the most decentralised PoS blockchain. PoS, or proof-of-stake consensus system, allows the blockchains to be more energy-efficient compared to PoW, or proof-of-work system, the consensus mechanism type used by Bitcoin and Ethereum. The more full nodes are keeping up the network, the safer the blockchain is. If there are few full nodes in the network, it's easy to manipulate the consensus of the network and, consequently, the transaction results. Most of the novel blockchains suffer from being highly centralised, with little amount of nodes, which is exactly what blockchain shouldn't be. How are the smart contracts operating? A smart contract is an electronic protocol or algorithm based on some special conditions. If the preset conditions are true, the contract is being fulfilled, and the parties exchange their assets. Being stored in a distributed ledger, the smart contracts can not be changed. In other terms, the smart contracts allow the users to programme any sorts of agreements between each other, being written directly in the code. As a result, you don't need to have a third party (such as the central authority, a legal system, or an external enforcement mechanism) to verify it. The smart contracts are fast, independent and secure. What is a decentralised currency? The key feature of decentralised currencies is that it’s only you who has control over your funds on a blockchain. Same goes for the Solar. Your Solars belong to your address. All actions with any address can only be made if you have the private key especially associated with this address. Asgardia does not have or store those private keys, which means it cannot move and use your funds. The private keys are encrypted within your Asgardian account. It takes out the complexity of using blockchains, since you can make transactions just by signing with your account password. This makes the Solar the first digital national currency where the only one who has access to your money is yourself. How is the Solar different from other digital or national currencies? The Solar is the initial step towards Asgardia’s new economic system. It is not only a currency, but also a protocol which allows to launch services on top of the Solar. Besides laying the foundation, the Solar implies a few ground-breaking features for a national currency, such as transparency, sustainable emission, full control of one’s own funds and decentralisation. Note that the digital Yuan/Euro/etc. have little to do with the decentralised networks, and thus can’t offer the inherent advantages thereof. What is the Solar's price? The stable-coin Solar equals 1 Euro. How can I buy the Solars? At the moment, the only way to receive the Solars is to swap them on the previous blockchain. You can do that simply by creating a new wallet in your Profile. You can also receive the Solars from other Asgardians by way of sharing your address with them. In the not-so-distant future, the Solar will be available for purchase via multiple services. How can I convert the Solars to regular money? In the future, the Solars will be exchangeable for Euros and other fiat currencies and vice versa. What is the Solar address? Your Solar address is the address on the blockchain that has the balance of your Solars. The address is tied to your Asgardian account. The address is used by other Asgardians to send you the Solars, so it is similar to your credit card number. You can make different actions with your address, such as transferring the Solars and participating in the votings. Your account password is required to sign those actions or transactions. What is a transaction? A transaction is an action within the blockchain. The most typical is sending the Solars from one address to another. Transactions are signed with a private key, but in the case of Asgardia you sign the transactions with your account password due to the Asgardian encrypting system. After signing the transaction, it goes to the blockchain, and you receive a transaction link that can go to the QTUM blockchain explorer to monitor the transaction status. What is a mnemonic phrase? A mnemonic phrase is a sequence of 12 words generated by QTUM blockchain, which grants access to your wallet on the blockchain. It can be used for restoring your wallet and address at any moment, and thus is of utmost importance, like a secret answer or a credit card PIN. Write it down and keep at all times. What happens if I lose access to my account and the mnemonic phrase? Since it’s only you who controls your funds, it is your responsibility to tread carefully with your Solar wallet. If you lose access both to your account and the mnemonic phrase, message the Asgardian support, and we will try to help you. How can I send the Solars to other users? Press ‘Send’ and enter the Solar address of the user – or just his/her name. How can I be sure that I fully control my Solar? Asgardia does not have access to your wallet and address. All your data is encrypted and hidden from anyone. If you want to validate the actual access for your funds on the blockchain, download the official QTUM wallet or use the web wallet, and import your mnemonic phrase there. What will the future Solar releases be about? Asgardia plans to develop its own financial ecosystem of services and goods. Besides launching various services for Asgardians and the residents, we develop some decentralised tools for governance. The nearest release concerns the decentralised voting.
