Hey there fellow Asgardians, We see alot of brilliant and talented minds among us (not me) , how about as few have suggested we start some online education? I am sure we can all share our knowledge and learn from each other. Tell me your thoughts and how we can achieve this.

BTW I only remember one person from many who had this brilliant insight , David Philipe Gil is one of many. I will try to track down the others.

For the basics of coding, I recommend Code Academy.

My idea on Education is a bit more radical in a sense. I don't think at the beginning it is important to have outside acknowledgement of the validity of the education because to a great degree Education has become a sort of state sponsored brainwashing program where countries teach their own perspective and no other perspectives. This can be easily seen in History teaching for example. I understand why It is done, but I think as far as early education is concerned, the approach should be more like a revised version of the classical 7 liberal arts - The Trivium and Quadrivium. Also a solid foundation in teamwork and virtues education seen in some cultures like Japan.

My comment about the Trivium and Quadrivium was geared towards foundational teaching. Also remember that I did say that it needs to be updated and applied to what we will need for Asgardia. I only want to keep it NOT nationalistic.

I just realized the post I made earlier about Asgardia University was kind of what this thread is about but anyways... I totally agree with having some sort of internationally recognized certification. In any case, Asgardia is a nation build on science and cultural diversity, so having it's own University or system of online courses makes sense.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a building block for the fantastic decentralized future of education. Already it is possible to get certification online from top Ivy League schools no matter what your status or location is, so long as you have a connection to the internet. With this in mind, the premise of an Asgardian education system will likely revolve around providing internet access and coordinating MOOC students so that they can collaborate in person/online alongside the course program. Well organized, online classes allow people to quickly reach the same or similar understanding of a topic, something that will be imperative in the quickly evolving birth of a nation if we are to share common intellectual ground.
