Hello community members!

You may have noticed that to create new and reply to posts there is a new three letter CAPTCHA required to be filled out.

We were on the fence of making this a requirement since the launch of the forums but in the last 12 hours there was a major spam attack launched against these, and many other, forums. We suffered 300+ spam posts made by 20+ accounts over this twelve hour period. The moderation team handled this marvelously and I'd like to publicly give a shout out to Jason Rainbow and Zahira for handling the brunt of it until more moderators were able to come to support them. We are extremely proud of the entire team for reacting so quickly to mitigate the attack.

So we ask our community members to please keep in mind this security measure was put in place to block spammers and their bots. We know this won't stop them completely but we can certainly try slow them down. We are looking at other security measures for the backend to help screen out these types of accounts before they have a chance to reach this platform. Please have patience as this may take some time.

Kind regards,
Rebekah Berg, Lead Community Administrator, Asgardia
