In today’s finance world cryptocurrency and its backbone, blockchain technology can no longer be ignored. At first, digital currencies were seen by institutional investors as an “exotic fad” that should be avoided. But now, that Bitcoin and Ethereum have climbed in value and appear to have reached an equilibrium that is more stable in 2018, institutional investors, like Goldman Sachs, are starting to develop cryptocurrency investment products.

The result?  These products will infuse more capital into the digital currency markets and offer more “legitimacy” and transparency.

The growth of digital currency is not the only thing disrupting traditional financial and investment industries. Blockchain technology itself is also changing the entire game of investing.

What's more, Razer, the gaming equipment giant, based in San Francisco wants to pay gamers to mine crypto using their graphics cards.

The new crypto rewards program is named ‘Razer SoftMiner,’ and it allows users to put their GPUs to work mining “Silver” which as per the firm is not a cryptocurrency. However, users won’t be able to keep what they mine, but they will get rewarded via discounts or offers from the company.

In their FAQ section, the firm explained that they work with crypto mining technology to harness your computer’s GPU. The firm will award the user with Silver, giving them access to Razer’s ecosystem and host of rewards.

In other news, NASA's Mars InSight lander has settled on Elysium Planitia and is getting ready to use its instruments. If everything goes according to plan, one device's work should be done by March.

That device? InSight's self-hammering heat probe dubbed the "mole.” It is designed to measure heat production and flow in the interior of Mars. To accomplish that, the tool has to drill down approximately 16 feet (5 meters) into the Martian regolith. This procedure is presently set to start in January, according to the mole's principal investigator during a presentation at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union.

Tilman Spohn, a planetary scientist at the German space agency, which is known by its German acronym, DLR explained that the heat probe needs to wait its turn because the lander's supersensitive seismometer and its protective shielding will be deployed first. It will take about a month for that process to happen and is slated to start next week.
