It's with a heavy heart that I report that Carrie Fisher has died.

Known best for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, Carrie Fisher was on a book tour promoting her memoir The Princess Diarist when she suffered a massive heart attack on board her flight from London England to Los Angeles. It had been reported that she was in stable condition but on a ventilator. Unfortunately, not even Darth Vader could stave off what was to come and it was reported that she passed away surrounded by family, friends and her beloved service animal just a bit earlier today.

The whole of Star Wars and sci-fi fandom grieves at the loss of an icon of the genre.

Rest well Princess.

2016 has been awful. I'll remember Carrie Fisher for the rest of my life, that's for sure. Thanks, Carrie, rest in peace.

2016- Many people who shaped the pop culture has died. Prince, George Micheal ,Carrie Fischer. I think our civilization's is rebuilding - a new culture of science,innovation and art need to replace the old.

I'm finding a little comfort in this. Maybe you will too.

I'm still impacted because the new and I will for a very long time, but I will always remember her.

Once more another legend in the culture arts (film , etc.) Has sadly passed away in 2016. A memorable person who will stay in the hearts of many. Rest in peace Carrie Fisher. You are gone but you won't be forgotten.

Too bad that Carry didn't lived long enough to see an actuall "renegade" civilisation found in space,with her own eyes...She truly is one with the Force now....

I've grown up in the Star Wars world. May the force be with her O:-)
