What if the universe as we know it now was not started with a big bang but with a chemical process that changed the previous structure and compounds.

For example if we would mix helium and hydrogen and that was the main compound of the universe then maybe a chemical process has lead to the separation of these 2 elements. It sounds maybe illogic but it was taken as an example, maybe the chemical specialists could find a more logical explanation.

Maybe the universe was full of oxygen and a chemical process burnt all oxygen except for the oxygen that was enclosed in the water of the universe.
