For in person events, are there going to be one in each state or more like a convention?

Dec 20, 16 / Cap 19, 00 20:34 UTC

Hello, Oregon here! What about a travelling convention? Visiting major cities in each state?

Personally I was thinking what Ryan stated. Roving events around a region. Then probably a roving yearly Country wide event that is in one region one year, another the next, etc.

If we have a meeting here in the northwest. I will be able to meet in Salem or Portland Oregon. If in Washington State I'll be able in Longview or Portland Oregon.

I agree that roving meetings should be a focus. With the option to webcast certain events that go on. While we can't always make everything, everywhere...we could plan/save for upcoming times.

I agree with that.

If we all plan it ahead of time we can pull it together. Well I'd like to add we should promote our selves a bit, by having the meet ups in public places for most of the events. On the side we would have our private meetings. To enter we would have to run our ID or show proof.

We would discuss more in-depth in person. I say face to face can be highly effective.

Top, I totally agree. Something to think about might be to have our certificates laminated to provide identification when setting up meetings with other Asgardians. Curious to see what other possible types of ID will be as we go forward.

Yes we can't be having people sneak in to our meetings that aren't actually Asgardians! That would be horrific, better put a retinal picture on our ID cards too to make sure they match the person carrying it! Just kidding. I think the forums were a fantastic start to opening up communications.

I like the idea of roving conventions, in regards to having an ID for the events, I think we should make some small enough to fit in our wallets, it might be a hassle to haul your certificate around everywhere. The ID could have your distinct ID number on it with your name and picture on it, kind of like a drivers license.

I like the idea of conventions in cities, gives us a chance to do promotions and sales if necessary. Here's my suggestion in the best way to do that. Use regions instead of states. For example the southwest conventions would be places like LA, San Diego, Phoenix, & Las Vegas. The regions should then over lap at strategic locations so citizens can connect to each other

Great comments so far: I like the organization starting up. I second the webcasting! I'm in the remote North CA coast and remote access would work best for me most of the time, considering that the nearest airport or train station is over a 6h drive away. I'll keep my eyes on this thread, anyhow.

I also suggest we pick themes for gatherings, and hold different types of them in varying sizes. I see us attending larger conventions, but smaller meetups could happen more frequently as well to allow us to socialize and bond locally within West Region. I've been a part of a few of these types of smaller meetups with other communities, and lifelong friendships can form from the get-togethers. Successful meetup themes usually revolve around food, are set in an accesible place, and can include online chats/video for those unable to attend in person at a specific location. In turn, the social bonds formed at small gatherings can help build community to organize larger events like conventions...

Great ideas here but I think we must consider this very real possibility. Once the general public gets a better idea of who we are, we will get labeled a cult or maybe something along the lines of Scientology? Maybe a little discretion for the moment might be a good idea?

Greetings and Salutations to the West. I am Captain Jason of the ACP, we are a shipstate of the nation of Asgardia, based in Gunnison, Colorado. We embrace the scientific pursuits of humanity and are currently accepting applications for crew and civilians to join us. Right now, our ship is theoretical, but our cause is great, as is the entire nation. If you are interested in applying, please see our post on the United States sub forum. Thank you!

Onward, Upward.

I think what Ronin said will more than likely happen. Once everyone realizes this is true and Legit, there will be some scrutiny. But we will over come all of it and everyone will be surprised on all of this.
