Startup Monday. Week 03.09-10.09

Asgardia is always interested in researching and promoting startups in addition to more established companies that could help further their goals. Today we look at four companies who all work with technology to help improve our lives.

For example, a new mobile app was launched on March 8, 2018, to celebrate international women’s day. The app is named after the startup company which goes by the title of Safe & the City.

The main goal of the app is to reveal London’s worst areas for street harassment so that men and women can plan their routes around it.

Asgardia strives for true equality between all Asgardians and ensuring the safety of its residents is paramount, thus apps like these could be of use.

Safe & the City has been engineered to build personalized walking routes that circumvent areas with high numbers of reported sexual harassment incidents.

Routes are based around information gathered from crime data, the amount of lighting on a street, the number of businesses open and crowdsourced reports of sexual harassment on the street.

Moreover, technologycontinues to better our everyday lives from smartphones, GPS-trackers, and sport-watches to wireless headphones and more, everything becomes digital and portable.

Thus, Qualinx aims to contribute to the best user experience of portable devices by offering an essential building block: the ultra-low-power radio.

Qualinx was founded in 2015 as a spin-off of the well-known Technical University of Delft (TU Delft). The company commercializes the innovative and tested Digital/Discrete-Time RF (DRF) technology for various ultra-low-power radio products. The main concept behind DRF technology is a digital and digital-like implementation of RF/Analog blocks via new circuits, systems, and architectural innovations.

Another company is Sigfox. Sigfox deploys a low-bandwidth dedicated network that is already present in 45 countries as a way to create a global, simple, low-cost and low-power connectivity solutions. As billions of objects worldwide will be connected to the Internettheir data will be stored in the cloud and Sigfox wants to participate in the digitalization of this environment.

The company was founded in 2010 and is a recognized global pioneer and leader in a sector that is already disrupting business models and aims to transform all of society. The ambition of Sigfox is embodied in their slogan “Make Things Come Alive.”

A slogan that Asgardia can appreciate as they strive to make the world beyond Earth come alive for everyone.

Finally, a large part of “Big Data” is in the form of gridded data such as “arrays” and “raster data.” Traditional representatives include spatiotemporal sensors, image, simulation, as well as statistical data.

Thus, rasdaman is using their SQL-embedded array query language to become a pioneer and world technology leader in flexible, fast, and scalable array analytics.

Their patented principle “What You Get is What You Need” maximizes Quality of Service and minimizes latency.

Asgardia is open to start-up companies and encourages every Asgardian to bring their business into Asgardia’s jurisdiction in order to help the economic growth of Asgardia.
