The Chairman of the Parliament visits South Africa
The Chairman of the Parliament Lembit Opik arrives in South Africa today on a working trip. One of the main reason behind his visit is the verification of the identity of an Asgardian MP, Charles Metet (Kenya), with who were unable to attend the first parliamentary conference in Vienna.
On 14 September, together with AMP Ben Dell (South Africa) and AMP Metet Charles (Kenya), Mr Lembit Opik plans to meet with members of the local Asgardian community and talk to them about their dreams and wishes for Asgardia. The event is scheduled for 17:00 at the Marriott Towers in Century City, Cape Town.During this meeting, Asgardians will have an opportunity to get to know and interact with Mr Opik, the AMPs, and each other. They can discuss their vision for the future of the first space nation.
Beauty contest winner, Mrs. Cape Town, will also take place in the event. Lee-Anne van Renen, is part of the Role Models Foundation in South Africa, which provides counselling and crisis intervention. Mrs Van Renen sees the parallel with Asgardia, which will become a role model for the rest of the world and any future space nations. She is an example that proves that women do not need to stand back for men - when it comes to Asgardia.
During his trip, Mr Opik also plans to hold several meetings with local opinion-leaders. On the evening of 13 September, he is to meet with Minister Alan Winde and Dr Willie Cilliers of the AHi Western Cape during the Business Leader Awards event.
