Fellow Asgardians of Edmonton District,

I'm running for mayor because now it's time to create our future. It's time for something new, something completely different. They say time changes everything, but you have to change things. For thousands of years, the ruling governments on Earth have squeezed their populations in misery and despair by waging perpetual wars, destroying our environment, and obliterating species of life forms in their narrow interests of power and wealth. Now, governments even want to militarize space. Things on Earth are just getting from bad to worse.

It's time to create something fresh. Replace despair with hope, endless wars with everlasting peace, inequity with fairness, self-serving politics with science to serve everyone, the bad and the ugly with good. Let's create a government that truly listens, that solves problems instead of creating them. Let us make what once was science fiction a reality for everyone.

As your mayor, I will uphold the Constitution, laws, and values of Asgardia in the Edmonton, Canada District and beyond. I will dedicate my time, knowledge, and resources to leading the continued development of Asgardia in our city, but above all, I will be your servant first.

I have just received the news from the coordination office that I have won the Mayoral Elections. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who voted for me and also to those who didn't - I'll catch you next time! Special thanks to Garrett and Marina for running. Garrett, I count on you to be the Deputy Mayor, assuming that there will be such a position. Marina, I hope you still want to make this world better, and I would welcome you on the Mayoral Council. Anybody else would like to join the team, please let me know. I will put in the time and effort, and I will respect your time restrictions but I need your help, ideas, and opinions. Please join me on this exciting journey. Once again, thank you all!

The Japanese Obayashi Corp., wants to build an operational space elevator by the middle of the century. The device would carry passengers skyward at about 200 km/h, delivering them to a station 36,000 km above Earth in about one week. Japenese scientists will test the concept of the space elevator system very soon from the International Space Station down.
