Today is the third anniversary of the formation of Asgardia's parliament. Chairman Opik closed the meeting with a brief review of the translation services that were trialed and the topics covered during the meeting. After reviewing the action steps next needed to be taken, Chairman Opik reminded the MPs of the next weekly meeting time.

After a brief break, the next section was a brief word from Asgardia's Prime Minister, Lena De Winne, and a presentation by the Minister for Trade and Commerce, Mr Ben Dell. In the presentation, Minister Dell outlined the mission and goals of the ministry. He updated parliament on the progress that had been completed so far on business proposals that had been so far. He also presented a rough outline of the timetable for setting up a business in Asgardia as well as a draft for the budget for the ministry. Minister Dell then answered some questions from parliament with the emphasis that there would be open communication between parliament and the ministry in the future.

The next topic of discussion for the day is the economic development of Asgardia. The MPs reviewed the financial targets set out in the budgets of Asgardia and how to reach them. They held a discussion on Resident benefits and how to approach them. They debated solutions and how business should be held in Asgardia.

On 28 Taurus 0005 (22 April 2021) held their weekly Q&A meeting on Zoom with the Chairman of Parliament, Lembit Opik. The meeting was short and focussed on the agenda for the Asgardia Legislative Forum (ALF) that will be held on 02 Gemini 0005 (24 April 2021). He outlined some of the topics that will be discussed during the meeting. Parliament will be testing several different solutions for using artificial intelligence for translation for Asgardia parliamentary meetings and their integration into the technological outlets used by Asgardia’s parliament. The Minister for Trade and Commerce, Mr Ben Dell, and committee Chair, Mr John Fine, will have some time to do a presentation about business in Asgardia, Chairman Opik will speak about his weekly meetings with Asgardia’s Head of Nation and the plan to have Asgardia’s Prime Minister, Lena De Winne, attend part of the meeting. Other topics that were discussed during the meeting were preparations and dates for future meetings both digital and physical. A physical meeting of parliament was still planned to coincide with Asgardia’s fifth anniversary. The main issues facing whether it will go forward or not depends on the state of the pandemic, and ascertaining the location in which it will be held have yet to be confirmed due to allowing access to all parliamentarians around the world. Deputy Chair Salvos Mozakitis spoke briefly about the weekly committee chair meeting, a legislative proposal system suggested by AMP Michael Chirino, and how it would benefit parliament to look into using it. He also outlined a conversation he had with Science Committee Chairman, Luca Soriso-Valvo about how Asgardia can interact with and contribute to the scientific community. The MPs then had a freeform discussion about the topics for the upcoming ALF and future meetings of Asgardia. Chairman Opik then announced that there would be a possibility in the future for meetings of parliament to be broadcast to the public before closing the meeting for the day.

On 14 Taurus 0005 (8 April 2021) held their weekly Q&A meeting on Zoom with the Chairman of Parliament, Lembit Opik. The preparations are underway for the next Asgardia Legislative Forum (ALF) which will take place on 02 Gemini 0005 (24 April 2021) and the agenda should be set before the next Q&A meeting. Chairman Opik and the parliament are currently exploring different options for translations for their meetings. It is their hope that for the ALF an artificial interpretation service could be employed to increase parliamentary inclusion. Parliament also discussed the next digital sitting which is expected to be held on 1-3 Leo 0005 (18-20 June 18- 20 2021). There will be two pieces of legislation submitted by Minister Chirino and Minister Shoemaker up for a parliamentary vote during the meeting. The suggestion of inviting Ministers to the ALFs was raised and discussed. Chairman Opik spoke about the first meeting of the new cabinet of Asgardia ministers and his bi-weekly digital meetings with the Head of Nation. Deputy Minister Salvos Mouzakitis gave a brief report on the weekly meeting of committee chairs which he facilitated. Several deputy chairs would be attending the weekly meeting until the vote later this year for the new chairpersons would be held. Parliament discussed the issues of bringing business into Asgardia as well as Resident numbers. Chairman Opik assured parliament that Minister Dell was hard at work and going through the backlog of business proposals submitted by Asgardians. He would be getting an update of Minister Dells’ plan to share with them in a future meeting. The meeting closed with a presentation by a group of MPs about some projects that they were working on and hoped to get approval for soon.

After a midday break, they moved onto the next voting point in the agenda which was the government structure. Chairman Opik reviewed the structure and explained how it would work. Head of Administration to the Head of Nation, Lena De Winne, reviewed the budget of Asgardia for 0004 which is up for approval by Parliament. She explained that the report covers up to 15-December-2020 and went through each part to help with clarity. She also discussed how MPs can get involved with their local communities and what support can be offered to them. Dr De Winne also spoke about the status of the Resident Cards that are currently under development.
