The 13 Moon Calendar
The 13 Moon Calendar
A calendar unites the people and the land.
Rich in celebration and tradition, calendars have long served as the centerpoint of culture.
The 13-Moon Calendar has been followed for over 5000 years.
What is the 13 Moon Calendar?
The 13 Moon, 28-day calendar is a new standard of time for all people everywhere who desire a genuinely new world. If the calendar and time we follow is irregular, artificial and mechanized, so becomes our mind. As is our mind, so our world becomes, as is our world today: Irregular, artificial and mechanized. But if the calendar we follow is harmonic and in tune with natural cycles, so also will our mind become, and so we may return to a way of life more spiritual and in harmony with nature.
The 13 Moon calendar synchronizes solar and galactic cycles on July 26 correlating with the star Sirius. Each of the 13 moons has a power, action, and quality which define an annual program to synchronize our consciousness with the galactic cycles.
As a perfect measure of cosmic time, this calendar is actually a synchronometer , an instrument for measuring synchronicity. Followed daily, it gives us a new lens in which to perceive events. In the New Time, synchronicity is the norm.
The 13 Moon 28-day synchronometer is a harmonic timespace matrix. It takes the moon 28 days to orbit the Earth; it makes this orbit 13 times each year. The standard of measure is the 28-day cycle, called a moon, because it is the median between the 29.5-day synodic cycle of the moon (new moon to new moon) and the 27.1-day sidereal cycle of the moon. Hence, it is a measure of Earth’s solar orbit using the 28-day lunar standard. This creates a perfect orbital measure of 13 moons of 28 days, totaling 364 days, or 52 perfect weeks of 7 days each. Because the 365th day is no day of the moon or week at all, it is known as the “ day out of time ” – a day to celebrate peace through culture and time is art !
“The Thirteen Moon calendar is an evolutionary tool to assist humanity in the unprecedented act of uniting itself on one issue central to its complete well-being: time. The harmonic convergence of humanity on this one issue, combined with the inescapable order, perfection and simplicity of following the 13 Moon calendar will lift the species as a simultaneous whole into the galactic timing frequency of 13:20.”
José Argüelles/Valum Votan, The Call of Pacal Votan
“We find evidence of its use as a prehistoric synchronic measure in the remote past of China, Polynesia, and scattered across late neolithic Europe and the Middle East.” – Dr. José Argüelles, PhD
Around the globe we find breath-taking reminders of the monumental role that calendars have played throughout human history. Why are c alendars so important?
What function do they serve in our lives? The current world calendar:
- upholds a framework of standardized church, state, and global marketplace activities
- defines the schedule of holidays and traditional cultural practices
- coordinates the worldwide socio-economic program
In essence, a calendar produces the faculty by which we operate, and the lens through which we see…
What’s wrong with the calendar we have?
- The 12-month calendar is arbitrary and irregular, lacking any correspondence to actual cycles of nature.
- Put simply by physicist Mark Comings: “The 12 month calendar has a cycle that is contrary to and out of phase with the natural annual 13 fold gravitational wave created by the Moon’s orbit around the Earth.”
- This lack of harmony, though generally un-examined, has a profound effect on the way we relate to the Universe we live within.
- Movements of the Stars, Moons and Planets have eternally served mankind as reference points for relating to the Nature of Time.
This graphic 2-dimensionally depicts the Earth travelling around the Sun:
The current world calendar divides the year as if it were a 2-D circle. 360 degrees of a flat circle are portioned into 12 subsections of 30 degrees each, giving us “30” day months. This method of calendrics dates back to ancient Babylon and provides the template for the current 12-month calendar and 12-hour clock (doubling the calculation, we get 24 hours and 60 minutes). The 12-month model for measuring time fails for the 365-day year divided arbitrarily into 30-day months leaves 5 extra days!
How does it resolve this discrepancy?
Some of the months are 31 days, some 30, yet February gets 28 days, except for an extra day once every four years (but not on centuries, except those divisible by the number four).
“30 days has Septober. April, June, and no wonder. All the rest have peanut butter, except my grandmother, who has a little red tricycle.” – Mad Magazine, circa 1958
Wonder why the months named September through December, which literally mean 7-10, are actually months 9-12? What’s in a name?
The system of 12 months and a corresponding 12 hour : 60-minute clock, is known as the 12:60
timing frequency
, and has yet to be proven as a viable measure of time. This flat perception of time does not correlate to any actual cycles of time! It is an artificial model of reality.
It is encoding humanity with a comprehension of the natural world as disharmonious and non-coherent!
For example, today on the Gregorian calendar is Tues, December 3rd. What day of the week will January 3rd be? What day of the week will February 3rd be?
The 13 moon calendar
is an obvious and ancient way to structure the year.
13
cycles of 28 days
describe the year perfectly,
with
one day of renewal before the new year
.
Perfect Periodicity
For every one time we go around the Sun,
the Moon goes around Earth 13 times.
The year has already been divided by Nature-
13 ‘moon’ths of perpetual harmony.
The 12-month calendar hides the 13th moon. The number 13 is now surrounded by superstition and is considered taboo; unlucky; evil. This fear is reinforced by cultural antiquities like “friday the thirteenth.” Often buildings have no 13th floor, or avoid constructing a # 13 apt unit. Why?
The ancient Maya had an entirely different relationship to the number 13, actually revering it at as the Key to Time itself. 13 is the Mayan galactic prime number; the Force of The Universal Movement of Creation .
Associated with the powers of endurance and longevity, the ancient vertebrate Turtle has 13 scales on its shell. “The first calendar that North American Indians ever had was Turtle’s shell…The Earth Mother, who was represented by the most fertile creature of our planet, the Turtle, showed our Ancestors how to mark the passing of each moon cycle. Turtle’s shell bore the 13 moons of the year inside of a frame that formed the circle we call the Sacred Hoop, or Medicine Wheel – representing the relationship of all life to all life.” -Author Jamie Sams
The name of “Turtle Island” to refer to Earth can represent our planet swimming in waves of radiant solar and cosmic energies.
“Without the Thirteenth Moon; without placing the Thirteenth Moon back into our consciousness, we remain absolutely trapped in the complexification of form. With the 13th we have the transcendence and also the circulation of time.” -Valum Votan
The pattern of women’s fertility cycles averages the 28-day, 13 moon ratio! Nature’s rhythms live within us!
Why has the 13th moon been hidden from us? What is to be gained by suppressing the creational principle of Mother Nature?
As prominent theoretical physicist Gerard J. Milburn reveals, “The aim of modern science is to reach an understanding of the world, not merely for purely aesthetic reasons, but that it may be ordered to our purpose.”
Living under the guise of the 12-month calendar, we have come to view nature as irrelevant – wilderness without intelligence, sentience, or order. It is from this fundamentally flawed perception that humanity attempts to progress ‘beyond the limitations of nature.’ In fact, it is our model of nature that is flawed, not nature itself.
As a comprehensive reflection of nature,
the 13-Moon Calendar is
an organization of creational elements that serves as a holistic tool for ongoing participation in life’s cyclic processes.
If humanity wish to produce harmony, we must use harmonic tools!
The 13-Moon Natural Time Calendar presents the Dreamspell – the interlacing of the 13-moon, 28-day solar/lunar round with the 13-Tone, 20-Tribe galactic spin.
13 X 20 = 260 distinct energies. This 260-day perpetual count is a perfect model of harmony – a universal expression of Nature’s order, derived from the mathematics of the the ancient Maya. Referred to as the Harmonic Module, (called Tzolkin by the Yucatec Maya) th is galactic count communicates the time ratios and patterns which unify our solar system with other star systems, and with the emanations of life-force from the center of the galaxy itself.
As a “galactic constant” the 260-day cycle does not correspond to any known astronomical period, yet the number 260 functions as a cosmic common denominator to synthesize the cycles of the Sun, Moon, Earth, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. In essence, it is the key factor of all the planetary periods. The 260-day cycle also corresponds to the human gestation period of approximately 9 months, perfectly expressing its power as a cycle governing the unfolding of creation!
We also see 260 in macro-cycles such as the grand, 26,000-year precession of the equinoxes, which author John Major Jenkins points out is like a “collective, spiritual gestation for humankind.” Even eclipses relate by a number whose factor is 260! As Jenkins assures us in his insightful book “Tzolkin” – the 260-day cycle has “multiple meanings,” as it applies to “celestial, biological, agricultural, mythological, and chronological processes.”
“
Tzolkin is the ‘key’ to both terrestrial and celestial processes
.
It’s kind of the common modulator or common denominator of the two realms. This is how we can understand Mayan astrology. They discovered the numerical and ritual key. Most important in the astrology is the reference to the human gestation period of approximately 260 days. As such, our own basic and shared rhythm of unfolding is seen to be intimately related to the cycles of the planets, moon and sun. This is more than just planets “influencing” us – rather we share the same rhythms of unfolding that the planets do because, ultimately, everything springs from the same source. Everything, on some level, has been imparted by the same rhythm of unfolding and is therefore related by a form of synchronistic correspondence.”
-Author John Major Jenkins
The harmonic numbers of the Tzolkin are as clear as our 20 fingers and toes – digits with which to measure the universe. Our body’s 13 major joints, or articulations, move us through the universe. Through movement and measure, we experience each other and ourselves as the universe.
From a whole system perspective, time, humanity, and nature are inseparable. Our physical and emotional bodies are moved by the same lunar, solar and planetary forces. Where we appear separate in space, we are unified in time.
When we structure our lives by the artificial rhythm of the clock and 12-month calendar, we expose our central nervous system, and subsequently, our entire mental-emotional body to the frequency of a machine.
Reknowned author and scientist Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D., has presented studies showing how: the stress of linear time contributes directly to an acceleration of the physical aging process, inclusive of deterioration and disease.
In modern industrial living, we wake up by the clock, we eat to the clock – we plan our lives and live our days in accord to the clock. We refer to the clock to program even our most basic of biological functions!
Quoting Mark Comings, Quantum Physicist : “ The intrinsic folly of this unnecessary yet widely promoted artificial dependance upon machine technology is that it discourages the development of, and even serves to hide the existence of, a vast spectrum of inner capacities – psychic, mental, emotional and spiritual potentials – that lie dormant within the biological human body in time.“
According to Dr. José Argüelles, PhD.: “ The simple and easiest way to reprogram your daily awareness of the actual nature of time is to follow the 13 Moon Calendar.”
Free your mind
and your world will follow!
Unlike the 12-month calendar which corresponds to no natural cycles, the thirteen moon calendar is a “solar-lunar calendar” because 365 days is the measure of the Earth going around the Sun (solar) and 28 days is the average measure of the Moon’s synodic and sidereal cycles (lunar).
Every year cycle begins not as January 1st, but instead with July 26th as Day 1 of Moon 1. The correlate dates are fixed – for example, “January 1st” will always correspond to “Rhythmic Moon 20” (the 20th day of the 6th moon).
Printed around the world by people of diverse cultures and faiths , this 13 Moon calendar is proposed as the harmonious alternative to the unnatural, irregular 12-month yearly calendar which serves as the current world standard of time.
The 13-Moon calendar is the modern dispensation of ancient and indigenous wisdom and science. These codes, numbers, and cycles were known by earth dwellers and cosmic seers of past ages, and now, by us as we reawaken this knowledge within our own living cells.
2. Why Change Calendars? What’s wrong with the calendar we have now?
In
Campaign For the New Time
, Dr. José Argüelles writes:
“
To change the calendar is to change history itself
…If we choose the 13 Moon Calendar, the species will operate by a 28-day cycle which is the female biological cycle. We will pace our daily lives by a perpetual calendar that will release the mind into the telepathic norms that are a property of the universal 13:20 timing frequency. We will find that this tool synchronizes the lunar and other world calendars according to a mathematical harmony previously unknown. And
released into an entirely different state of consciousness we will soon realize technologies that are mental rather than material in nature.
A new synchronic order of human life will unify the planet.
“ Is a calendar something more than a tool for scheduling the payment of debts (calends) or is it an instrument of synchronization? The harmony or disharmony of time is a profound matter rooted in the instrument of time reckoning that we use . There can be little question that we live more in a time of chaos than of harmony. We may also say in regard to the effect of standards of measure on the mind, that the chaos of the time is embedded in the calendar we use. If we are to leave this time of chaos and enter a time of harmony, then we must change the instrument in which the chaos is embedded for an instrument that is the very model of harmony – the 13 Moon, 28 day count.
“The Gregorian calendar, the current global civil standard is indeed the foundation in time of globalization…Only a species whose time sensibility had been captured by instruments of artificial measure could have become so alienated as to have produced the monstrous conundrum known as the ‘fast world,’ a civilization where money and technological advance prevail over human sensibility and the natural order. It is to the correction of this destructive momentum that all efforts of calendar reform must now be directed.”
The global dominance of our modern 12-month business calendar results from centuries of imperial conquest.
Last modified by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 , the “Gregorian Calendar” is the current world standard because of the forceful issuance of this system upon conquered (indigenous) peoples who lost their land as well as their religious freedoms. The Gregorian calendar presents an archaic depiction of Time. It is a product of its predecessors – Julius Caesar’s calendar and the earlier “calends” (schedule of taxation) of the Roman Empire.
Guarding the power of a patriarchial priesthood and a neo-feudal financial system, this calendar programs us – through our adherence to its systematic disharmony –to perpetuate a lifestyle of “time is money.”
Consumption over creativity, marketplace over morality, we are walking a path that is not leading us to a promising future. Now knowing we have been misled by a false understanding of time, it is our right and responsibility to explore and reclaim our true connection to Time.
3. What is a Galactic Signature? How do I find mine?
According to the Dreamspell, the modern application of ancient Mayan timekeeping, each day is assigned a “Galactic Signature” which is a unique gateway characterized by unique energies which are depicted in symbols, numbers, colors, and code words . There are 260 distinct signatures. Each galactic signature carries one of 13 Tones of Creation, and one of 20 Solar Tribes. Together, these 13 tones and 20 tribes form the entire Tzolkin matrix (13 X 20 = 260) – the sacred Maya calendar of Creation. Anyone can find their own and their friends and family’s galactic signatures right here at 13moon.com! Once you have identified your signature, the more awareness you put on it, the more it will reveal its presence and powers. Collectively, the energies of the 260 kin help us see all of life as a collaboration of Universal forces and patterns. As we explore and live with attention on these energies, we get to experience our own evolution unfolding through every day life!
4. Can you explain what an “analog,” “occult,” “antipode,” and “guide” energy is?
When you decode yourself online , you’ll find that each of the 20 glyphs has its own “Destiny Oracle” which is a combination of 5 glyphs that together express the holistic power of each archetype . We can get to know the role and span of each of the glyphs by examining their qualities and dynamics relative to each other. For example, the Red Serpent glyph which represents primal instinct is antipodes (challenge powers) with the Blue Eagle glyph which represents mental vision. These two energies need each other – they counter-balance each other to create wholeness.
Each Destiny Oracle is made up of a:
destiny power (central life energy – the signature glyph)
analog power (support energy)
occult power (hidden insight energy)
antipode power (challenge energy which strengthens)
guide power (overseeing + directing energy)
The Destiny Oracles also bring together the powers of the 4 directions , as each oracle has one glyph of each color/direction, plus the guiding power which will always be the same color/direction as the destiny energy.
By looking into the 5 powers of any day or anyone’s signature, we get to know deeper connections, find meaningful relationships between glyphs, and can attain a broader view of the role of our glyph . It is recommended to explore the characteristics and qualities of each of these 5 glyphs within this context to discover more facets of your own destiny energy, or the destiny energy of any particular person or day.
This energetic architecture of the Destiny Oracle is produced by and revealed as the radial mathematics of the Tzolkin, as presented by the Dreamspell. These simple equations provide potent clues !
5. A friend of mine told me that you can add two people’s galactic signatures and get the galactic signature energy that they create together. How do you do this?
You can add up 2 people’s signatures, or you can add up 200! Any time 2 or more people come together, whether in relationship, or just for a moment, a unique combination of galactic signature energy is created. To decode this just requires simple math! Let’s take an example – lets add 11 Storm and 4 Skywalker.
First, add the tones : 11 + 4 = 15. Because there are only 13 tones, you cancel out 13 and your answer is Tone 2. (15 – 13 = 2)
Next, add the glyphs : Storm is the 19th glyph, and Skywalker is the 13th, so 19 + 13 = 32. Because there are only 20 glyphs, you cancel out 20 and your answer is 12 (32-20 = 12), the 12th glyph being Human.
So, the final answer would be 2 Human; Yellow Lunar Human…
This is perhaps the funnest math gets!
6. I’ve heard of the Mayan prophecy of 2012. What’s supposed to happen?
Good question! According to Mayan calendrics, December 21, 2012 is a critical juncture, indicating the culminating point of the 26,000 year cycle of Homo Sapien evolution. On the winter solstice of 2012 , the noonday Sun will exactly conjunct the crossing point of the sun’s ecliptic with the galactic equator, while also closely conjuncting the exact the center of the galaxy.
Mayan Messenger Carlos Barrios shares the Quiche Maya’s knowledge of the ending of this cycle by saying , “ The world will not end. It will be transformed … Everything will change…Change is accelerating now, and it will continue to accelerate…If the people of the earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape, without having destroyed too much of the Earth, we will rise to a new, higher level. But to get there we must transform enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way…Humanity will continue, but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human…
“ Our planet can be renewed or ravaged. Now is the time to awaken and take action …The prophesized changes are going to happen, but our attitude and actions determine how harsh or mild they are. This is a crucially important moment for humanity and for earth. Each person is important. If you have incarnated into this era, you have spiritual work to do balancing the planet …The greatest wisdom is in simplicity. Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness. It’s not complex or elaborate. The real knowledge is free. It’s encoded in your DNA. All you need is within you. Great teachers have said that from the beginning. Find you heart, and you will find your way .”
As author Moira Timms writes, “ It is the Unification and Completion of all natural, cultural, religious, and prophetic time cycles .”
Let us reflect on the prophecy of Pacal Votan which declares, “ If humanity wishes to save itself from biospheric destruction, it must return to living in natural time .” Evolution is being placed before us but it is left to us as we are actually living out the unfolding of this prophecy, right here and now! To “wake up now” is to begin to change everyday consciousness, through simple, pragmatic ways, such as adapting the 13 Moon Calendar.
Perhaps the keener we listen, the more insight we will have of the face of this Shifting World Age. As we awaken to our own, true consciousness, so we come to reflect on the supreme interconnectedness of the future reaching radially into the Now. Let us coordinate together, on inner and outer planes of existence, for the dawning of galactic synchronization!
7. Is this the Mayan Calendar?
Simply put NO . Considering that the ancient Maya had more than 17 calendars, and that present day Maya in Guatemala follow a distinct version of this Tzolkin count which is generally called “The Mayan Calendar”, it would be inaccurate to say this system is The Mayan calendar. It is true that this calendar is commonly referred to as a “modern Mayan calendar,” yet while this 13-Moon Natural Time Calendar does integrate the ancient patterns and codes found in the Mayan Time Science, these mathematics are universal reflections of cosmic order, themselves not Mayan.
Also, this 13-Moon Dreamspell system integrates new knowledge that is not based on the historical Mayan Calendar , and therefore it verges on cultural misrepresentation to confuse this as the Traditional Mayan Calendar. So, technically speaking: no, this is not the Mayan Calendar, but rather, this is synchronized with Mayan calendars, and, as Dr. Jose Arguelles explains about this calendar system,”This prophetic stream is emphatically a galactic revelation of the same base of knowledge that produced the Mayan civilization of ancient Mesoamerica. The new revelatory stream is known as the ‘Wizard’s Count’ or ‘reformulated Chilam Balam.'” This 13-Moon Calendar is based on Nature’s time science of 13:20 which the ancient Maya were aware of and recorded . Because these energy patterns are universally occurring, they are present as systems of cyclic time keeping and fourth dimensional divinatory oracles. For more clarification go here
The revered Classic Maya (435-830 AD) recorded the most extensive and precise calendrical science ever to grace Earth. They tracked the concurrent cycles of all heavenly bodies and calculated dates reaching in to the distant past and the approaching future with astonishing accuracy. Their cosmic time science was so perfect in reflecting universal Laws of Nature , that its patterns correspond to countless other harmonic systems, ranging from Incan and Druidic 13-moon calendars, to the Chinese I-Ching, to the spiral form of the galaxy, to our body’s physical architecture of 20 fingers and toes and 13 joints, to our DNA codes!
8. Could you suggest some ways to access the energy of the calendar on a day to day basis?
Simply your intention to get to know the energies and consciously cycle with them is the MOST important thing that will open your channels of understanding. The energies are ALIVE, therefore they respond to our attention and focus on them !
One is advised both to look at the glyphs and tones and let one’s right brain imagine things and tune in to them symbolically, as well as to focus in on the 3 code words of each glyph and tone and decode personal/universal insights…What do the images and words evoke in you? The code words are succinct keys into unlocking our experience of the unique energies and their roles within the whole. It is the 3 code words associated with each glyph and tone that are the precise portals into understanding these fourth-dimensional time codes.
There are layers to the calendar cycles, so it is important to follow your own instinct and see where you are drawn to decode. It’s generally better to get to know one layer at a time so that you feel grounded in it before adding complexity.
Contemplation of the glyph of the day is definitely a great way to begin getting in touch with the energies. You can learn a lot by examining and getting to know the cycle of the glyphs 1-20 as they describe a continuum of development.
After exploring the 20 glyphs as a circuit, one can move on to studying the cycle of the 13 tones of creation , grasping the language they speak as a process of unfolding growth.
Then one can perceive the glyphs and tones weaving together as the Tzolkin – and can explore all the magic it stores as a radial matrix!
The year cycle of the 13 moons is something that can be grasped easily at any point, because it is always the same – as far as its flow and its gregorian correlate dates. But above all, if you’re not having fun as you explore these time cycles then you’re trying to hard! Joy is the best way to genuinely learn!
9. Could you recommend a good book that gives info about the meaning of each tribe and its associations?
Do you have a 13 Moon Natural Time Calendar ? In the back of the calendar we have some helpful charts describing each of the energies of the 20 glyphs and 13 tones, explaining their associations and how they apply in our lives.
Otherwise, the only other book to recommend on this topic is “The Mayan Oracle” by Spilsbury/Bryner, Bear and Co. Publishing.
10. Is this is a Lunar calendar? Why don’t each of the 13 Moons begin on the New Moon?
NO , this is not a lunar calendar, this is actually a solar-lunar-galactic calendar . Lunar calendars are focused solely on the cycle of the Moon, which has 2 main cycles: the synodical cycle, from new moon to new moon, is 29.5 days (what most lunar calendars are based on), and the sidereal cycle, the measure taken from where the moon appears at the same place in the sky, is 27.33 days.
Since neither of these cycles serve to accurately measure the 365-day solar cycle, ( a year of 12 synodic revolutions is only 354 days) the number 28 is used as an average of the 2 main lunar cycles . 13 months of 28 days each = 364 days, plus 1 day out of time, = 365 days. In this way, the 13 “Moons” of the calendar do not begin in line with the new moon, as standard lunar calendars do, but the use of the 28-day cycle synchronizes us with the moon’s revolutions.
11. What is the significance of the number 13?
Where the number 12 represents the circle, 13 is the enduring, continuing spiral. Whereas the number 12 represents self-perpetuating stasis, or the highest complexification of material form, the number 13 represents circulation, the power of transcendence and going beyond. 13 signifies the cosmic ratio of Time itself as the force of universal movement. Even in our bodies, it is our 13 joints ( 2 ankles, 2 knees, 2 hips, 2 wrists, 2 elbows, 2 shoulders, and 1 neck) which give us the power of physical movement. Turned taboo due to its associations with the 13 moons and the 13 cycles of a woman’s annual fertility cycle, the number 13 became thought of as unlucky, even associated with witchcraft and sorcery. 13 actually represents interconnectedness, the presence which unifies life’s movements as one magical orchestra. Thirteen scales on a turtle’s back – 13 moons in motion reflect the 13 tones of creation – the galaxy’s movement spiraling into biological life-forms.
12. Have other cultures followed the 13-Moon Calendar?
Yes! The 13 Moon Calendar 28 day calendar has been in use for over 5500 years . From the Incan, to the Druidic count, to the Egyptian, to the Essene, to the Mayan, to the Polynesian, the 13 moon calendar has been used throughout pre-history as the harmonic standard, and is now being followed the world over by advocates of Galactic Culture!
13. Why DON’T we use a 13-Month Calendar?
There’s no one answer to this question, although it seems that religious agendas are a paramount obstacle, as well as the societal status quo which seems to unconsciously determine the programs by which we operate in this reality. Here’s a bit of recent history: In 1933, the League of Nations actually voted the 13-Month Calendar to be the new world standard, in recognition of its continuity and reliability. The 13th month was to be named “Tricember.” Before implementation, however, the Vatican was able to create enough skepticism to successfully oppose its acceptance. Ironically, it was argued that a break in the 7 day week for the day out of time would cause calamity and lead to war, when, in actuality, communities join together around the world on this day (July 25th) to activate the theme: Planetary Peace through Culture!
Efforts in calendar reform continued into 1956, and as of 1992, are currently being furthered by the World Thirteen Moon Calendar Change Peace Movement – Planet Art Network. If you choose to align with us, you who are reading this can personally be a vital part of this effort!
14. Why is the new year July 26th?
The correlation date on the Gregorian Calendar, July 26, is derived from the prophetic tradition of the Yucatec “Chilam Balam” or Jaguar Priests. This date on the Julian Calendar was July 16, and was first correlated with the heliacal rising of the star Sirius at 19.5 latitude north in the Mayan temple site of Edzna in AD 692. This also corresponds to the dedication date of the tomb of Pacal Votan in Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico, in 692, whose prophecy, Telektonon, espouses the return to natural time through following the Thirteen Moon Calendar.
The annual heliacal rising of Sirius refers to when Sirius again rises into visibility after being hidden by the Sun’s light for 70 days. (Heliacal means rising with the Sun, Helios = sun.) Also marking the new year of Thoth’s Egyptian Thirteen Moon calendar, this auspicious alignment of Sirius with the Sun assures that Earth is bathed in an abundance of stellar light and information. As the brightest fixed star in the sky, Sirius has long been regarded as a link to a higher dimensional consciousness, one which is helping to quicken and evolve our planet; also associated with the Divine Feminine principle.
15. What is the Day out of Time?
The Day out of Time, acknowledged annually with global celebration since 1992, always falls on July 25th . On the 13 Moon calendar, this day is no day of the month, and no day of the week. It is inbetween the closing of the previous year (July 24th) and the dawning of the new year (July 26th). Around the planet, this day is reserved for festival and community. Central focuses are: Stop business as usual and attest to the truth that “Time is Art!” Planetary Peace through Culture , forgiveness, atonement, freeing of debts, purification, the Art of Peace, the freedom of being alive. This is an opportunity to experience true timelessness and loving kindness. Whether public gatherings or private circles, this day is a catalytic launch-pad for the year to come, a great harnessing of telepathic presence, and a perfect way to invite new participants into the harmony of the 13 Moon Calendar.
16. How does the 13-Moon calendar compare to the 12-Month calendar?
The 13-Moon year is preferable to the traditional 12-month year for it brings the regularity and consistency of Nature’s cycles. Its 28-day count provides a perfect template for business and personal needs. The chronological application of the 13 Moon calendar is the same as we are familiar with. There continues to be 7 days in a week and 52 weeks in a year, However, instead of using 12 irregularly-numbered months, with names such as “November” and “December” (which actually literally mean “nine” and “ten” – remnants from the 10-month Roman calendar) instead, names like “Overtone” and “Rhythmic” (which mean 5th and 6th moon) are used. These names denote qualities to each month which coordinate our annual journeys with the organizing principles of the Law of Time, giving us new reference points to perceive the flow of time.
17. How are the Tzolkin calendar and the 13-Moon Calendar related?
Within the 13-Moon calendar, lies a 52-year pattern in which no two days are ever the same. Known as “ the moving intersection of time ,” the energy of every day is a product of a 260-day cycle (known as the Tzolkin) as it perpetually flows through the 365-day 13-moon cycle. Tzolkin, which means “Sacred Count” is also called the Galactic Spin calendar. This round of days is a base harmonic cycle, a numeric common denominator of the orbits of the Sun, Moon, Earth, Mars, Mercury and Venus, also reflecting the human gestation period of approximately 9 months. 260 is also a fractal of the 26,000 year cycle of Homo Sapien evolution – the cycle of Earth’s precession through the equinoxes and our Sun’s orbit around the central star of the Pleiades, Alcyone. The 13-Moon calendar reflects the annual human biological rhythm of the woman’s 28 day fertility cycles. As we acknowledge the interlocking relationship of these 2 prime cycles, we are bridging the fourth-dimensional energies of Tzolkin into the third-dimensional rhythms of the 13 Moon year . Thus, we are working with a solar-lunar-galactic calendar, consciously connecting the Cosmos to the Earth, as our human receptors complete the circuit.
18. I’ve heard about 2 counts – a “Dreamspell count” and a “Mayan long count.” Please explain!
The count presented on
this website is the Dreamspell
count. Dr. Jose Arguelles, messenger of Dreamspell, sheds light on this common question:
“
The Dreamspell Count based on the Gregorian calendar synchronization date of July 26, is a precise expression of the
only
recorded prophetic tradition of the
Chilam Balam –
the Jaguar priests of Lowland Yucatec Maya. The Quiche or Mayan long count represents the chronological order of time…as such, it is a linear interpretation of the Tzolkin (sacred calendar)…The purpose of the Chilam Balam Count was to establish a basis for understanding that there exists a
synchronic order of time, completely apart from what is usually referred to as the Long Count, the linear count of days
(BC 3113 – AD 2012). The synchronic order is complementary to this linear interpretation, but introduces the human to the radial order of the higher dimensions… The Dreamspell synchronization system is called ‘cuceb’ literally: ‘squirrel’ or ‘that which turns.’
The Chilam Balam Cuceb, revised as the Dreamspell Count, and the Traditional count which is followed by the Highland Maya of Guatemala, differ by 50 days in their correlation (between now and 2004
). The Traditional count is called ‘Oxlajuj Aipop’ and is kept by the Quiche, Cakchiquel, and Pocomam. We may now define the Traditional count as the Indigenous Maya and the Dreamspell/Chilam Balam as the Galactic Maya…The two counts actually constitute a prophectic alliance…There is no conflict…The Law of Time embraces both systems in the higher fourth-dimensional order of truth
.”
19. Do the 28-day moons still have weeks?
The 28 day month emphasizes the perfection of the 4 X 7 pattern, validating the natural logic of the week cycle. The 4 weeks represent the 4 directions , so that the first week is Red (East) – power of initiation, the 2nd week is White (North) – power of refining, the 3rd week is Blue (West) – power of transforming, and the 4th week is Yellow (South) – power of ripening. Additionally, each day of the week is aligned with one of the 7 chakras (energy centers of the human body) and corresponding “radial plasma” symbols. See the calendar for specifics!
20. What about leap year?
Even the best astronomers are not in agreement as to the precise measurement of the solar year. Our year is approximately 365.2421896698 days. It is this “extra” quarter day which the February 29th leap year “solution” is accounting for – attempting to ensure that the 12-month calendar can stay in phase with the seasons and not slip out of synch (which its been known to do historically – spring coming earlier and earlier in the year.) This solution of arbitrarily inserting an extra day every year divisible by 4 (as 1964), except those completing a century, which must be divisible by 400 (as 2000) is a man-made remedy which produces 366 day years. This is not the only way to handle the quarter day.
The alternative solution recommended by the Galactic Research Institute (GRI) is to account for the time variance of the quarter day in a harmonic fashion. In other words – there are 13 leap year days every 52 years. Instead of having an extra day every four years, why not have a thirteen day-out-of-time jubilee celebration every 52 years – an entire thirteen day festival of Peace through Culture! This option upholds the integral patterns of the 13 moon calendar, remaining in phase with the 260-day galactic count and its harmonic overlay on the year cycle. (Currently, since leap year is observed, each leap year observed takes one day out of the thirteen day wavespell out of time, scheduled for 2039 AD).
As Dr. José Argüelles explains, “ To accomodate the February 29th date would throw the Year-Bearer Count off by one day, ruining the harmony of the 13 Moon system. Reviewing the Chilam Balam texts, it was clear that leap year was never considered, much less counted in the Year-Bearer Count. Thus, the year bearers remained the same, maintaining and assuring the harmony of the system where every 52 years equals 73 Tzolkin galactic spins, no two days are the same, and the entire 18,980 days of the cycle are to be repeated every 52 years in an upward moving spiral of time.”
Dr. Argüelles also recently shared on his website, lawoftime.org:
“The 13 Moon/28-day calendar is a perfection of harmony that reflects and is synchronized by the synchronic order. This is a purely fourth-dimensional order of reality, and its perfection of chromatics and harmonics establish cycles of time that are in absolute harmony with the higher dimensional order of reality. For this reason, within its own system, the 13 Moon/28-day calendar does not recognize the 29th day of February, for it would disturb and place out of synchronization this calendar with the higher dimensional cycles.
“However it does account for this day as 0.0.Hunab Ku. This day occurs every four years precisely between the 22nd and 23rd days of the Galactic Moon, and can be viewed as an extra day out of time which is no day of the week, moon or the galactic spin (Dreamspell count), hence 0.0.Hunab Ku. This is an especially spiritual day since Hunab Ku refers both to the center of the Galaxy and to the Supreme Creator, One Giver of Movement and Measure… .”
According to GRI, anyone born before noon local time on 0.0. Hunab Ku will be the galactic signature that is assigned to Galactic 22 (Feb 28) and anyone born afternoon on 0.0 Hunab Ku will be the galactic signature of Galactic 23 (March 1).
21. What are some personal benefits of following the 13-Moon calendar?
Magnified awareness, sense of inner guidance, deepened harmony with the flow of life and the peace of one’s own true rhythms , heightened sense of telepathy, increased experience of synchronicity and alignment, participation with a global family of awakening , entrainment of one’s bio-magnetic field and electro-chemical circuitry with that of the Earth’s and Beyond, conscious connection of our hearts with Nature’s hand of balance. As author John Major Jenkins says, “ When you track the Tzolkin and follow the 13 X 20 daycount for long enough, observing carefully how it patterns events in your life, you begin to see how seemingly unrelated events – unrelated in space as well as time – are really very closely related. “
22. What is Planet Art Network?
It is people such as yourself who work together as a global, decentralized organization of bio-regional groups coordinated in time by the 13 Moon Count. Promoting everything that contributes to the advancement of our spiritual evolution, our main objective is to spread awareness of the Law of Time and to change the world’s standard calendar from the 12-month Gregorian to the 13 Moon 28-day Count. Our aim is activate the potential of the human in harmony with Nature. It is our role to assist eachother in these transitional times, so that we may continue to navigate with increasing clarity. As a planetary collective, with participants of all languages, we are unified by the symbolic language of Nature’s order. We honor the law of the kin which proclaims we are all of equal value to the circle, each of us with seeds of knowledge within . Please note, around the globe, Planet Art Network kin meetings are held on Crystal days – the tone 12 day within every 13-day wavespell cycle. This act of joining in the “crystal mind-field of cooperation” keeps the web of time-trackers synchronized as all parts collaborate to make up the Whole. To establish a local Planet Art Network (PAN) node in your area , and receive a PAN starter copy of educational material for the group, contact the Foundation For the Law of Time (located in Brightwood, Oregon) via email: foundation@tortuga.com . Be sure to check their website (updated regularly by founders,José and LLoydine Argüelles) – www.tortuga.com!
23. Where do the animals listed for each of the 13 Moons come from?
The order of the 13 totem animals corresponds to the sequence of the 13 major constellations as rediscovered and presented by Hugh Harleston in El Zodiaco Maya . By studying the characteristics of the animals from a biological perspective, we can find deeper meanings of the powers of the 13 moons.
24. Did the Maya practice human sacrifice?
The term “Maya” refers to a long lineage of ancestry. The Maya who are responsible for the majority of calendrical monuments and majestic pyramidal observatories are known as the “Classic Maya.” They were on Earth during a specific window in time, about 435 – 830 AD. It appears they lived and worked with a very precise mission – that of recording huge astronomical and astrological cycles to alert future generations of the changing world age; the dawning new creation. When their job of encoding the message in stone was successfully completed, the Classic Maya left the scene. As Dr. José Argüelles writes, “In 830 A.D. the engineering team departed back to space, back to the other dimensions from which the Maya keep their watch on things. Slowly the terrestrial Maya melted back into the jungles. The time of darkness was setting in. Sure enough the conquerors came. By 830 A.D . Warrior tribes who took the ancient name of Toltec , which means Master Builder, entered the Yucatan. War and human sacrifice were introduced .”

Friday the 13 th is considered an unlucky day. There are hundreds of horror movies and books on the topic and even statistical data shows that there are an increased number of accidents on this date. But have you ever wondered how all of this came to be?
Many centuries ago, before the start of patriarchal times, Friday the 13 th was a day of the Goddess, a day to worship the divine feminine residing in all of us and an opportunity to honor the cycle of creation, death and rebirth. It was a holiday of creativity, beauty, wisdom and a day for soul nourishment.
Friday is Venus Day and Venus is the embodiment of divine feminine energy.
We feel her energy at the end of the week and it serves as a reminder to honor the days that have passed and relax and enjoy the weekend. We all look forward to Venus day because it’s when our working week ends and the two-day period of rest and relaxation begins. This is the ideal day to embrace Venus like energy and to focus on creativity, beauty and sensuality.
When it comes to the Number 13 we need to mention that it also has an extremely powerful feminine energy and many cultures believe it to be the number of death and rebirth, creation, fertility and blood.
This is linked to the 13 Moon cycles every year and the also the number of periods women experience per year on average. If your periods are in sync with the cycle of the Moon , you will shed your lining on the New Moon and ovulate on the Full Moon.
The 13th falls somewhere in the middle of the Moon cycle on average, which is why many believe it to be the midway point between death and rebirth. The point between the New Moon, a period of shedding (the death) and the Full Moon a period of ovulation (rebirth).
In ancient times when a woman was bleeding she was believed to personify divine and magical powers. Everyone would turn to her for wisdom and intuitive and psychic messages. While during ovulation she was believed to be at the pinnacle of her power and was worshiped for her ability to create new life.
Much later, when our society became patriarchal, women started feeling ashamed when they were having their periods and they were taught to ignore their amazing ability for creating new life, something sacred.
So once everything changed people started forgetting about the divine potential of Fridays and the number 13 and it’s when the idea that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day started spreading like wildfire.
But there are so many things that support the fact that Friday the 13 th shouldn’t be considered an unlucky day, on the contrary it’s a day when good things intertwine.
The lunar calendar also has 13 months, which further supports 13 as holding feminine power. Furthermore, the Moon is also representative of feminine energy and helps us to understand and deal with our emotions and sensitivities. The astrology charts not only say that the Moon guides our emotions but it also brings our potential to the light and help us better express in life. As a matter of fact, often understanding your Moon sign can help you bring more awareness than understanding your Sun sign.
When Friday and the number 13 are brought together, it’s a very powerful day for creativity and feminine energy. Moreover it’s a beautiful time of death and rebirth as it’s the mid-point in the cycle between something new emerging and something old going away.
But pat of the mystery surrounding this day may be traced backed to the pagan communities because many rituals and spells were often done on this day due to the potent energies that are present. Maybe that’s when the fear surrounding Friday the 13 th first appeared because many witchcraft followers held this day in high regard and chose it for their rituals.
But don’t think that it’s a woman’s day because we all have some feminine energy inside. It’s not an unlucky day as well. It’s a day when you should celebrate life, beauty, creativity and all the cycles in life! It’s a beautiful day and use it to get in tune with your emotions and awake the divine within!
