I personally retain similar views of England. As in, why would anyone bother... it's not that special. I could think of many prettier things to go an look at and many more civilised places to spend some time. A similar effect is possible on a smaller scale, too - for example people migrating towards the beaches in the summer months. I've never considered the land meeting water that special but this is likely because I grew up around it. I would suggest it's mostly born of perspective. Something you see every day rapidly becomes less amazing even if it is pretty special to begin with. Such becomes "background noise" and is then only noticed by those generally absent this "noise" - similar to how when in a busy resteraunt you can focus on a single persons conversation and autonomously filter the excess without effort.

India has the reputation for being 'The World's Largest Democracy'. Politicians and public figures wanting to associate their brand with democracy want to go to India to say they are somehow associated with democracy. It is all publicity and optics for the news media and schmucks who consume media without processing.

There are dozens of countries without UN recognition and many that are recognized by one or less member nations. Probably the most famous right now is ISIS. UN recognition is tremendously important for us, but what other countries think generally has very little effect on the ability of a government to function.

It is not the UN recognition within itself that is the proof of legitimacy, the measure being recognition by other nations and the UN is not a nation. However, it is made up of nations, and if enough of them agree that we are a nation then by extension most others should conceed to the matter. As previously mentioned, this is not an assurance with several nations not being recognised as nations by one or more nation but this doesn't seem to represent any severe hinderance, as long as most tend to agree.

The creation of our own currency holds no specific advantages that I'm aware of. It does carry some distinct disatvantages. To actually do anything with it you're going to have to convert it into another currency, no-one anywhere will accept this - reducing the value of any given transaction concerning this currency. Then you have the overheads involved with maintaining the currency, prevention of fruadulent currency entering circulation etc. This will rapidly exceed the value of the currency. If you're thinking cryptocurrency, then definitely the energy involved with processing the blockchain will cost more energy at residential rates - and in some cases, even business rates - than it "produces" or "confirms" money in a very short amount of time with any new currency and is past that point with several existing.

No breakfast (or lunch) for me. I get up around 08:30 every day and I have my first meal of the day around 16:00 to 17:00. That's called Intermittent Fasting. I have been doing this for about a year and half; it's not difficult if you "ease" into it progressively.Many health benefits to this approach, especially as a way to keep my weight down. I'm pretty simple. Do whatever you want in your spare time, be where you need to be for whatever job you have when it's time for work. Mix up routine and work days as needed to avoid getting bored or complacent.

I really like your routine. Is it possible to modify that for those of us who tend to work later into the evening? It also takes me some time to really get moving in the morning, and I should, but don't eat breakfast either. And as I keep looking over it each time, I realize I should really work on my routine for my health. Somethings are also not easy to do when living with my other half. I love her, but sometimes our ideas on schedule don't always work together. It is a great idea, and again, does remind me I should work on my routing discipline.

I don't think religion has any real factor on the treatment of women. It is often used as an excuse for treatment, but it not the actual cause of mistreatment. The problem is the way men think about women, and the way women allow themselves to be treated. Women are treated (by some) as objects. This is done through modeling, prostitution, pornography, or forced marriages. The circumstances that caused these women (and girls) to be put into the situation may have given them little choice, but the mental image of women being weaker or less capable than men begins at this stage. By seeing women in such compromising or objectifying situations, it causes both men AND women to see women as weaker, needing protection, or less capable than men. Because of this mindset, others subconsciously treat women unequally. Women don't get promotions because, subconsciously, men don't see them as strong as a man would be in that position, so they get passed over. When it comes time for pay increases, that same stereotype causes women to be treated as less capable than a man. The same difficulties apply in scholastics, entertainment, and politics. The rare woman who refuses to fall into the stereotype then gets labeled as 'bitchy' or 'cold' or other similar negative adjectives, thereby attacking them socially in an effort to 'put them in their place'. So, there is no easy solution to the problems women face, but it IS within their power to change people's attitudes by standing together, united, and acting to remove all the possible ways that women can be treated as objects and playthings. It also cannot be a man who does these things for them, because of the way it would be portrayed, where a man had to help a woman, thereby the woman was too weak to do it themselves.

Well OP, I'm from India too, and I would disagree with your premise. Women are treated the same everywhere regardless of the religious tendency. Fear of religion doesn't serve to discourage people from doing bad stuff. Not anymore, which is one of the reasons why we don't need religious boundations anymore. In the context of Hinduism, there is a statement that I don't quite remember. It goes, ".....Shudra pashu nari, sakal tadna ke adhikaari". Now I'm no linguist but that statement is clearly is alluding to women and people of "low caste" and how their maltreatment is justified. In Christianity too, women are not treated aptly. I believe there is a clause that says that a woman must be a virgin till her marriage, failing which she is liable for death (or something). Islam clearly doesn't allow equality, although things are changing. So regardless of religion, women are treated not-nicely. Therefore changes must happen, not in the way that neo-feminists and SJWs want but in the direction of true equality. None of that gender-neutral language and mansplaining, etc crap.

Age is likely to be a factor with resisting the stresses involved with launch via intense chemical thrust. It's also likely to slightly more problematic with low-G environments with a lot of organs. A "space travelling program", eventually, would be a good idea however failing to pay attention to any critical details when attempting to create a website doesn't bode well for being able to safely maintain life in space, I'd not expect this anytime soon. I'm to understand in official capacity there is vague plans for some sort of orbitial station - possibly similar to ISS, or using bits of when it hits end of service life in 2025(there will be modules with much usable service life after). I'd not imagine this to be a permenant habitat - like the ISS, few crew and regular rotated off the station. Such would be most likely to be the start of us into space, and it's unlikely IMHO that the general population would have access, even if they could get themselves there. Like the current space-based initatives, there's a lot of trust involved and this trust cannot reasonably extend to the greater population.

I have been trying to not be too critical of things but I have to agree with EyeR on this one. The role of leadership is to communicate. When you think, conceptually, about what we should be doing right now it boils down to a few things. 1. Asgardia's 'leaders' communicating with their staff about what they want them to be doing. 2. Asgardia's 'leaders' communicating with their customers (us) about what they are doing. 3. Asgardia's 'leaders' communicating with outside leaders about what we, collectively, are doing to be recognized as a nation. As far as what is happening, 1. might be being done (I'm not on staff so I cannot honestly testify one way or another). 2. is haphazardly being done, with notices being put into subforums where it doesn't make a great deal of sense sometimes. 3. might be being done, as far as the Asgardia website is being said, Igor is contacting national leaders. Now, it is a bit unfair for me, as a non-member of staff, to be criticizing how staff and leadership is doing its job as I don't actually know what they are doing. Considering the likely weight this will gain over time, and the number of users as much as the userbase themselves (most are of the type to use facebook it seems) then there is definitely an unmet resposonsibility to protect these users, and their data. As this represents the offical "social" nature of our infrastructure also, currently and for the given future, it is certainly worthy of a lot more attention than it was initially granted. Everything on that list is entirely about forward progression with regards to something we would actually *need* to be doing in order to enable other and better things. Like actually exhibiting enough features to possibly be considerd a nation or actually getting that nation into space, long term. Or even existing long enough to let that happen.

I say it is possible without even an existence at all. You don't need an overseer to do the kinds of stuff governed by physical laws. And if even there was such a being taking care of such a massive project, then he would not want to give one damn about some silly primates on a nondescript planet in a remote space in one of the universes under his/her control. So he/she might as well be absent from existence. None of the rituals that we humans do to please such entities (if they even exist) are of any consequence. I say focus your money and time on the development of humankind, not the filling of the pockets of so called godmen and the satiation of your guilt and obligation towards a self created God. Agnostic Unitarian here. There's probably a God. It probably doesn't give a flying flip about what you do to worship it. In the grand scheme of things, God will not come to bail your rear out of the fire unless you are particularly lucky, so don't depend on it. Nope. It is pretty clear that Asgardia is a secular nation. There is nothing that Asgardians as a whole must / should do in relation to religious rites or practices. What you are doing here is no different than if I said "Asgardians should celebrate Festivus". As awesome as a celebration it is (especially the airing of grievances and the feats of strength), I have no right to impose that view or belief on any of my fellow Asgardians.
