Search engine and PM functionality have already been requested..... as has qoutational abilities. If these simple to deploy things had been implimented, then maybe this wouldn't be a recurring topic....

Also would be great if you can create forum as "conversation friendly" space e.g that we can replay on exact comment without spam of whole topic (as it is on fb done).

I don't think it should be some "exclusive club" - But I don't think it should be totally open, either. There should be public accessible sections, certainly. Not everything is supposed to be public though. If you disagree, then I expect to see a link to your published medical history... There's legitimate cause for not wanting everything to be publically available to all, and as this forum appears to be the primary interaction society wide then it'd make sense to feature areas that are not public accessible. It's definitely a valid point you make with regards to signing up to skim the site, but IDS should clock that pretty rapidly, as that doesn't behave like a "normal user" in the slightest. Even a sysadmin patrolling the logs intermittently should spot that. Editing robots.txt would imply trust that such contents would be respected. Companies wanting to maintain an outward appearance of respecting such simply rent services and deploy their crawler from there. There's a fourth option for finding out who you are.... OSint. As you've admitted to using this username in other places, I'd wager it'll pick back quite a bit of data - and enough little clues and it's almost amazing what you can find out...

A handy reference Christina, thanks. Yes a private forum would be contrary to the whole point of why Asgardia has come to be. It is not intended to be an exclusive club for the few, or I certainly would not be here. Reha, you can have the normal privacy anyone can expect in a forum, but you should be aware of what that actually means. 1) You can change your publicly displayed name in your User Profile https://asgardia.space/user/profile/edit (only you and the admin can see the full info). 2) You only get to login to the forum with your Asgardia ID, so only Asgardians can post. My displayed name is the common name I am known by everywhere online, in work and on the radio. This is different from my birth name which only family use. To find out who I am you must ask me, hire me, or hack Asgardia. The site admin can edit the site "robots.txt" so that search engines and bots are kept out, but it impossible to use a forum and also have total privacy. I think you need to be realistic about what "private" means, and what can be done online. "Private" is something only you know, or the people you have "privately" contacted. Posting in a forum or website is a public act like standing in your town centre and having a loud conversation, or putting up flyers and posters. Thought: How do you know that I am not a criminal or government spook with an Asgardia membership ? Right now I can read your posts, and send them to someone else if I wanted, and closing the doors will not help if I were someone you were worried about, because I am inside the doors already, even if membership stops. If you really want privacy anywhere online, never use your real name, repeat a username, or an email address you used anywhere else, never post or tag pictures of yourself, and always use a VPN that does not keep logs, and use a privacy enabled browser. Unless you are doing all of those things it is impossible for a site to be private. Making a site private, does not stop it from privacy abuse. Just ask the millions of people listed on https://haveibeenpwned.com (check your own email addresses). Just enjoy meeting new people and express yourself as you would in any public space, and you won't have anything to worry about.
