It is hard for people to witness climate change around the world, therefore making it harder to believe for some where the changes aren't as obvious.
Where I am currently living, in Banff, Alberta, there is currently no snow on the ground. The current average temperature this week is sitting somewhere between -2 and -8 degrees Celsius The coldest we have reached so far this season is about -10. This time
last year,
Banff had already been buried beneath snow for more than a month and temperatures had reached down to -40 degrees Celsius, averaging between -15 and -20.
This could just be a coincidence. Yearly cycles, rainfall, etc, could all have an effect on this... but were warmer temperatures, less rainfall and effects such as these not some of the many factors scientists said would change with the upcoming climate shifts?
Definitely something worth looking into, even for a skeptic such as myself.
Share with us an example of how your home town has shifted due to climate change, and whether you believe it is the result of the earth's natural cycles or due to humans altering climate! Scientific sources are more than encouraged.
P.S. The picture I have posted is of myself standing in front of the Athabasca Glacier... which has retreated 1.5 kilometers and lost more than half its mass in just 125 years. Source: NASA.
