I am not looking for the flying car, the friendly AI or the faster-than-light travel, although those would be amazing things to behold. You find me here looking for our natural path as species, I am here hoping for the renewed exploration of our immediate borders and a different frame of mind.
I hope for the most radical of individualistic philosophy at the micro level to create a symbiosis with the most holistic perspective of our reality as homo sapiens at the macro level.
I hope for the most egoistic of our fellow humans to realize that the only smart thing to do in the long term for the survival of the one is to ease the wellbeing of the rest.
I hope for a future where personal growth through physical and intellectual experiences is encouraged, and societies grow and evolve thanks to the amalgamation of multiple individuals creating new cultural paradigms.
We need to understand our differences. First of all our physical ones, because we are women, men and intersexual humans of different ages, constitutions, skin colors, etc., looking for a new and better society. But we are also marked by our cultural differences, and we have to acknowledge that we may almost never share the same identical way of looking at the world. What is good and evil? Ethical and unethical? Necessary and optional?
Once our differences are a recognized obstacle in our communication, we have to overcome them, assuming that there will always be new problems to solve, and work together towards a common goal: the survival and betterment of humankind.
We need to remember the importance of sciences and arts; the parallel importance of utility and beauty. We need not forget that our environment (our city, our planet, our solar system, etc.) are part of what we are, and as such deserves to be respected, protected and nourished.
We have to think a find reason for being alive than just to collect material possessions.
We have to go forth as our best version of humanity, creating now a better tomorrow for those who will come after us.
That is my kind of future.
