The multiverse’s existence can be proven in upcoming future? Yes or No?
The intricate ideas of the existence of multiverse are indeed quite far-fetched ideas and implausible to the non-scientific eye but these theories certainly intrigue the researchers and scientists perusing the field.
To even begin understanding the intricacy of the multiverse we first need to learn about the word ‘universe’.
Universe means everything that has been created, thus defining multiverse, meaning multiple universes, infinite number of universes existing parallel to each other. To get a complete grasp on the ideas of a multiverse one has to go back to the creation of our universe thought big bang. Our universe began by a big bang and almost immediately the universe expanded by a process of inflation. Although this inflation stopped in a fraction of a second but the coined ideas of eternal inflation is covered by Steinhardt says otherwise. It states that a false vacuum, an area of minimum energy and a meta-stable state, decays and expands exponentially at the same time much like a radioactive substance, However, the rate of expansion is higher than the rate of decay so once inflation started it never stops and the total volume grows over time. Quantum fluctuations in the region result in what we can say localized, small big bangs with results in the formation of new universes called bubble or pocket universes. These infinite pocket universes are far beyond our observable universes so when they are born they are totally disconnected from every other universe
To study and prove such a strange phenomenon cosmologist coined many theories and hypothesis relating it to quantum mechanics. Among these scientist its a commonly believed fact that the many world interpretation would be a benchmark to uncover and prove the existence of the multiverse. Many worlds interpretation was coined by Hugh Everett and according to this theory a wave function never collapses but every possibility of an occurrence become actualities. It can be further explained using Schrodinger experiment. When the cat is in the box instead of saying the cat is both alive and dead we can say the cat has branched off into to different worlds, one where it is alive and one where it is dead. So each possible outcome to an action, the world splits into a copy of itself but here is the twist. When the universe splits a subject is unaware of itself and its condition in the other version of the universe thus making it a bit hard to prove the existence of multiverse but there is another way of looking at it. If we say uncertainty applies to time it means that every possible future outcome must be related to the past and must be interacting with it. If we can observe it on a timescale short enough it should be theoretically possible to show the causalities that show the many world theory thus proving multiverse. Another way of looking at is to create a randomly varying oscillation in molecules and if by chance it can be shown that the molecule exists in two places at the same time but collapsing to one single place it should be possibly enough to prove multiverse.
Undoubtedly the closest we have come to determine the existence of multiverse of to prove the idea right is the existence of a cold spot which was glimpsed by NASA. Latest studies are stating that the cold spot came into being due to a collision between our universe and another bubble universe. Although other explanations like its formation due to fluctuations explained by big bang cant be completely ruled out but scientific evidence is more tilted towards the idea of it being due to the collision between two universes. Scientists are now studying the cold spot but that's, not the only thing. Its inevitable for a fact that if multiple bubble universes exist its proven by string theory that these universes would be existing in the same physical space so these universes can actually collide and overlap each other leaving behind possible signatures which can range from being cold spots to hot spots, cosmic microwave background and even incongruous and anomalous voids in the galaxies so it is believed that these signatures will be observable.
Other indirect ways it can be proven is looking for supportive evidence of gravitational waves. These waves cause ripples in space and time when huge objects pass through so they are observable and would ultimately help us strengthen the theory of multiverse by proving the law of cosmic inflation.
Ultimately the proving of a multiverse is not an easy act as still many believe it cannot even be proven yet. It requires a whole lot of technological advancements and a lot of time. The things actually get a bit complicated after its proving as well because if by any chance multiple universes are proven then it's inevitable that the laws of physics would be different on other universes from ours. This could cause a complete collapse of the basic principles of physics in our universe when
it comes down to is whether or not the multiverse can be proven or not. The proof of such a diverse and a complex theory is not normal people might define as impossible but in science, its believed that nothing is impossible except it requires just a bit of a research work. With the technological advances in the field of cosmology and astrophysics indeed the multiverse theory would be proven sooner than later.
