If i look at the topic, i can not repeat often enough how much a standard like markdown is needed ( which is similar with the current wild life experience called forum syntax ).
OT: There should be no difference between a shifted and non-shifted enter. Markdown would only add hard breaks ( BR's ) if at least 1 empty line has been added to the content. That would solve, whatever we actually experience regarding side effects.
