October 12th, around 6pm, that was time for the long ride in the Light Rail Transportation line in Kuala Lumpur, going through that heavy drenching rain (real heavy!) just as one might witness in warm Malaysia at this end of the Southwest Peninsular Monsoon season.
We made it mostly dry to the mall and found that special place for this special event: the DC Comics Café in Putra Sunway Mall. Convenient for its proximity to that same LRT line that helped us get there in minutes from our Northern home rather than being stuck in traffic for hours!
As we were finishing sticking up to the table our freshly printed pictures displaying our Asgardian pride and announcing the event, we didn't have to wait long: our first friend was already joining us! We had already met in Hungary in early August so it was nice to meet again for such an occasion!
We exchanged on the purpose of Asgardia, our lives in KL and shared ideas and understanding about the newly formed Nation!
Wow, one year already!! Asgardia is one year old!
Then arrived our unlucky friend, stuck in traffic in his Uber-ride with a small accident on the way (small fender bender), coming all the way from 31km away (about 20miles), arriving two hours after the beginning of our Celebration!! Thank you to have valiantly braved the storm, overcome the traffic and not renounced to joining us! You had so much to share about your studies at the National University of Malaysia and your research at its Space Science Centre that would you have not come, we would had been at a loss! We learnt so much from you!
The best moment for me was when you shared the difficulties you have been meeting to be taken seriously by your fellow researchers while speaking to them about Asgardia... and the subsequent decision we made together to go and organise a presentation about our Nation (and its future upcoming scholarship opportunities to be offered!) to explain to them more in depth what Asgardia stands for. I personally had that project to share about it with absolutely no idea as to where to go but thanks to you, we have now identified this public of potentially interested people and can proceed to share with them what is so dear to us!
All good things have an end: it was time to say goodbye... We immortalised that moment with a few pictures (thanks for the DC Comics staff!), to later realise that since we hadn't had real dinner, going out to a Mamak place to eat together would make it easier to say goodbye! :-)

Hello Asgardians. Hello family! This is my candidacy for mayor in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. :)

Many here already know me, as they have already talked to me or follow my scientific dissemination work on Instagram and some of my social projects that I also promote there. But for those who do not know me yet, my name is Thor, I am a gender fluid transgender person, that means most of the time I identify as a non-binary person, but sometimes I also identify as him or her (rare sometimes but it happens haha). My most used pronouns are: They/Them.

I am currently 24 years old and participate in some student projects related to Astronomy, Space Science and I also have other personal projects, similar as concern for children and young adults with disabilities. I have been an activist since I was 15 years old, I am always looking for a more equal world for all of us.

Well, I read the entire constitution of Asgardia, talked to some Asgardians from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where I reside. Being a representative of Asgardia is not just a position, but it also requires professionalism, improvement and, above all, being open to debating different opinions with the people you are representing.

And so, to start a more active trajectory in the political life of Asgardia, I asked myself three essential questions and I would like to share them here:

"Why would I become a mayor representative? Why Asgardia? And why me?"

Well, according to our nation's constitution, the goals of Asgardia are:

- Guarantee peace in space;

- Ensure equal opportunities in Space for all Asgardians residing on Earth, regardless of geographic, financial, technological and other particularities of the countries of their terrestrial nationality;

- Ensuring the protection of planet Earth and all humanity.

And me as an activist Asgardian who fights for the rights and equality of any human being, especially minority groups like LGBT+, refugees, people with economic problems and people with disabilities. In addition to working incessantly for the insemination and dissemination of space science and culture to these audiences. I felt "invited" to participate in this nation and help create actions to expand social work and scientific education for vulnerable groups.

These are some of my future projects for Asgardia:

- Bring in new residents from Rio de Janeiro and elsewhere.

- Assist in the development of Asgardia.

- Be a legal representative and be more active on social media promoting Asgardia.

- Bring new ideas to be discussed and possibly developed in the Asgardia.

It took me a long time to apply as I needed to think about whether this would be useful for Asgardia and how I could help Asgardia and the Asgardians as a whole, not just those in my home state.

Olá Asgardianos. Olá família! Esta é a minha candidatura a prefeito do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. :)







Muitos aqui já me conhecem, pois já conversaram comigo ou acompanham meu trabalho de divulgação científica no Instagram e alguns dos meus projetos sociais que também promovo por lá. Mas para quem ainda não me conhece, meu nome é Thor, sou uma pessoa gênero fluído, ou seja, na maioria das vezes me identifico como uma pessoa não-binária, mas às vezes também me identifico como ele ou ela (raro, mas às vezes acontece haha). Meus pronomes mais usados são: Elu/Delu.



Atualmente tenho 24 anos e participo de alguns projetos estudantis relacionados à Astronomia, Ciências Espaciais e também tenho outros projetos pessoais, semelhantes como a preocupação com crianças e jovens adultos com deficiência. Sou ativista desde os 15 anos, estou sempre em busca de um mundo mais igualitário para todos nós.




Bom, eu li toda a constituição de Asgardia, conversei com alguns Asgardianos do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil onde moro. Ser representante da Asgardia não é apenas um cargo, mas também exige profissionalismo, aprimoramento e, acima de tudo, estar aberto a debater opiniões diferentes com as pessoas que você representa.



E por isso, para iniciar uma trajetória mais ativa na vida política de Asgardia, me fiz três perguntas essenciais e gostaria de compartilhá-las aqui:



"Por que eu me tornaria um representante à prefeito? Por que Asgardia? E por que eu?"



Bem, de acordo com a constituição da nossa nação, os objetivos de Asgardia são:

- Garantir a paz no espaço;

- Garantir a igualdade de oportunidades no Espaço para todos os Asgardianos residentes na Terra, independentemente das particularidades geográficas, financeiras, tecnológicas e outras dos países de sua nacionalidade terrestre;

- Garantir a proteção do planeta Terra e de toda a humanidade.



E eu como ativista asgardiano que luta pelos direitos e igualdade de qualquer ser humano, especialmente grupos minoritários como LGBT+, refugiados, pessoas com problemas econômicos e pessoas com deficiência. Além de trabalhar incessantemente pela inseminação e divulgação da ciência e cultura espacial para esses públicos. Me senti "convidado" a participar desta nação e ajudar a criar ações para ampliar o trabalho social e a educação científica para os grupos vulneráveis.







Dito isso, gostaria de compartilhas alguns dos meus projetos futuros para a Asgardia:

- Trazer novos moradores do Rio de Janeiro e de outros lugares.

- Auxiliar no desenvolvimento de Asgardia.

- Seja um representante legal e seja mais ativo nas mídias sociais promovendo a Asgardia.

- Trazer novas ideias para serem discutidas e possivelmente desenvolvidas na Asgardia.

Levei muito tempo para me inscrever, pois precisava pensar se isso seria útil para Asgardia e como eu poderia ajudar Asgardia e os Asgardianos como um todo, não apenas aqueles em meu estado natal.

During a recent Q&A session online , Lena De Winne, the CEO and Vice-President of NGO Asgardia, addressed the question of ID cards and passports.

“Once the process of Constitution voting is over, it will be one of the next steps of the Administration, to look into the ID cards, and eventually passports,” she commented.

She warned that the process will take some time: “It will not be extremely fast. It will be done very properly, very meticulously to make sure that what is done works and it works universally, and it’s totally secure.”

Who can receive and ID card and a passport, and why is does it take a while? De Winne explained: “It will be only possible to receive ID card, and eventually a passport, to those who have voted for the Constitution and have identified themselves as real people. This is one of the reasons why we are still running the voting. Our IT team is verifying that those who voted are actually real people older than 18 and have voted only once. That's why those votes that are not valid are deleted. Once this is all done and checked and verified and the results are published, those who have voted and been recognized are entitled to request ID card and eventually a passport. But they will have to present themselves and identify themselves with the existing documents. It will be a lengthy process, but it will be a totally transparent and valid process.”

Documents will have to be picked up in person, she said. Asgardia plans to have embassies on every continent, because “it's philosophically representative of what Asgardia stands for, because from space you do not see the borders. The borders are drawn on the maps, the borders are in our minds. Asgardia, as the first in world history space nation, is standing up for the unified humanity through space and its vision from space,” De Winne said.

She acknowledged that for logistical purposes, “we will have to see closer to the date which other locations might require representation or consulates.”

De Winne said that passports will come later, and ID cars are more important, as they “will be integrated with the National Identification, like banking system and social security system. This will be a process which will be happening in parallel with the development of the Solar as the currency.”

She also said that passports (especially used as travel documents) are “absolutely amongst our goals. That will happen.” But for now, she said, ID cards will happen sooner – “they have more practical purposes.”

Dear Asgardians,

To build better future, not only working for Asgardians but also performing for all human kind, putting effort into technology, science and international trade to benefit  and add value to people's life can create concrete base for Asgardia's public reputation and increase it's assets.

In order to deal with restrictions about international trade in our territory; creating and sustaining bureaucratic communication with NGO’s, schools, other communities and close Asgardia Districts are my personal goal.

Today, on 31 July 2017 (15 July 0001 by the Asgardian calendar), 100,000th Asgardian voted in support of the Constitution of Asgardia, the first-ever space nation in the history of mankind.

Asgardia congratulates everyone who has accepted the Constitution, is celebrating this historic event, and grants the 100,000th voter a unique present -- an additional 500KB of storage on the Asgardia-1 satellite, which will be launched into space in autumn of this year. Files uploaded to the Asgardia-1 satellite will remain in space and in Asgardia's history for the entirety of Asgardia's existence -- meaning, forever.

According to the results of the voting, which will be processed in the next few days, results will be published, specifically:

- What percentage of those who participated in voting accepted the Constitution;

- How the preferences of Asgardians were distributed during the voting on national symbols -- the flag, the coat of arms and and anthem of Asgardia.

Also, the final results will be summed up and prizes will be awarded based on the contests that took place online earlier. Follow the news!
