Hi William, I read your platform and think you will be an amazing leader, so please read my platform and give your valuable vote for me if you think I'm suitable for that. Good luck!!!!!
That's kind of the point. It can end hunger by producing 400 tons of dried algal protein per colony/per year.
Harvard Health blog states that a person should take in 15-25% of their daily calories in protein consumption. The WHO (2007) Technical Report on protein and amino acid requirements in human nutrition states that the best estimate for a population average requirement is 105 mg nitrogen/kg body weight per day, or 0·66 g protein/kg body weight per day. In many developing countries protein intake falls significantly short of these values (from the US National Library of Medicine). Throughout the developed world, animal products and cereals are the two most important sources of protein; in developing countries this order is reversed. In low income countries only 3 % of total dietary energy, as an indicator of diet composition, is derived from meat and offal, 11 % from roots and tubers and 6 % from pulses, nuts and oilseeds. The remainder of the dietary energy is mainly derived from cereal-based staple food. Although the production of livestock has increased in developing countries, the consumption of protein in these countries with people consuming the most limited amounts of protein are continually decreasing. Undernutrition, including insufficient consumption of protein, remains a persistent problem in the developing world, and although many diets within these developing countries are deficient in the quantity of protein compared to recommendations, the quality of the protein also strongly comes into focus.

How do you factor global warming and the decrease of the earth’s drinkable water supply into your development of ocean colonies and in what ways will such colonies contribute to the current environmental issues the world faces?
How do you factor global warming and the decrease of the earth’s drinkable water supply into your development of ocean colonies and in what ways will such colonies contribute to the current environmental issues the world faces?
The Ocean Colonies will address both these issues head on... The numbers below are from a single operating ocean colony, I envision tens of thousands of these colonies.
A. ) to counter the energy problem, we would employ OTEC's, as the heart of the colonies can produce more power than the colonies can use, through a clean and green process. The extra energy created can be stored in large power cells that can be transported to municipal or nation customers on an exchange basis. That's straight electrical power from the turbine. The other energy byproduct of the OTEC is the production of 66,000,000 cubic ft of hydrogen PER DAY!
B.) The OTEC will also produce distilled water, once again what is not used by the colonies could be transported to those in need. Estimated at 175,000,000 gallons per day.
C.)Food - each Ocean Colony would produce an estimated 400 tons of protein (in the form of Spirulina) per day!
The Spirulina grown will have the effect of acting as a sponge pulling CO2 out of the air. This will not seem like a lot considering the vast amount of atmosphere that needs to be cleansed to reverse global warming but imagine 1000's of these colonies wrapping the equatorial belt of the earth all acting as a CO2 sponge.
Cultivating all this blue-green algae, Spirulina will have the added side effect of pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere. Bluegreen Algae is 20 percent Carbon by weight so a colony producing over 800,000 tons of dried Spirulina each year will remove 600,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year. To counter water vapor (another and much more abundant greenhouse gas) The colonies will cool the equatorial belt with the water pumped up from the ocean's depths. Keeping the Ocean temps below the runaway threshold of 80.6F/27C (this is average ocean temps not average equatorial temps) To see Climate change in reverse would take an estimated 15,000 Colonies operating.

If I have my way, Asgardia will be the first country to begin developing the Aquarius Project's ocean colonies. Though I have seen that Elon Musk is interested in this as well, perhaps I will be able to bring him onboard as our visions mesh.
I think we should always be seeking it, need to know who's on the block. Seriously though, China has built the worlds largest radio dish for the purpose of discovering extra-terrestrial life, it's twice the size of the Arecibo Observatory. Seth Shostak has told the US Congress that extra-terrestrial life will be discovered in the next 20 years. I stride the fence on the pro's and cons to first contact. Half of me stands with the Star Trek Federation approach, that we can be diplomats and traders with another species and the other half subscribes to the Dark Forrest theory that everyone out there is a hunter looking to pounce on a weaker civilization until they themselves are annihilated by a greater species and taken off the board.
What do you think of the current state of ocean pollution? Should we solve the problem before colonizing the ocean, or will the ocean colonies somehow help with the pollution after they are formed?
I don't think that we wait for the colonization of the oceans. I think that the colonies themselves will clean much of the oceans up, but the colonies will only be along the equatorial belt (best spots for OTEC power production). But I would hope that the Colonies under the Asgardia Kingdom would help fund cleaning operations for the oceans that they will owe so much to.
By providing the lessons of self governance, people will live in a much smaller land area and for most of us a tighter population density then we are used to, much the same as it will be when Asgardia is built. A city floating in space will be dense with people and no where to go. I see many challenges that will need to be overcome and the Ocean Colonies will mimic that.
They will create the financing needed for space exploration and projects that will be needed to get us to the Asgardia space station. Along with financing a space elevator which will both speed up and drop the cost by 90 percent of getting out of the Earth's gravity well.
It will produce food for the Space Colony as well as the people of Earth. There will be no reason for hunger once the Ocean Colonies are up and running.
To be part of what directs humans to the stars. Ultimately I will probably never get to see Lunar or Martian colonies, or the city in the stars (Asgardia) but if I can help set things in motion, and help steer humanity in that direction...thats what I get out of this.
There was a line about the Bird Men of the Moon, if a person can hold 1/10th of their body weight (a 15 pound dumbbell for a 150 lb person) in each hand and flap, they would be able to wear a suit with a large surface area set of wings and in the low air pressure (equivalent to being at an altitude on Earth of 11km) would be able to fly. That just sounds exhilirating! Though rigourous even in low Lunar gravity.
The OTEC power plant works due to Delta t or temperature variance. Warm water enters an evaporator or low pressure chamber allowing it to boil at a lower temperature (80.2F). A small percentage of the warm water (temperatures of about 84F) is flash evaporated. The expanding steam turns a turbine attached to a generator creating electricity. This is Thermal Power, but the water is heated by the Sun making this Solar, without the Solar heated water the process would not work.
For those that don't know what In-Situ propellant production means, it means ships heading to Mars would make their fuel to get home by collecting and processing materials found in the course of their exploration in route or once arrived at the destination (Mars). This would replace the need to carry dead weight, fuel, for the return trip it would just need to be processed there for the return trip.
I haven't spoken to Elon about a contingency, but i would think that if it can not be processed on site (Mars) then either the return fuels are carried there and back or its a one way trip. But I don't think that it will be that big of an issue, in the last few years we have discovered an H2O ice table at the Phoenix landing site. Water, obiously can be broken back into Hydrogen and Oxygen by placing an electric current through it. Hydrogen and Oxygen are combustable and therefore a fuel source. Water ice has also been found at higher lattitudes and thought to be in the lower lattitudes as well.
Other ways of getting the ingrediants to synthesize fuels there are by solid oxide electrolysis, processing atmoshpheric gases, Sabatier Electrolysis, RWGS (A break down of CO2 into Oxygen and CO) Electrolysis.
Point is the materials are there, it is just coming up with the best ways to refine them for what we need.
While anabolic steroids increase proteins in cells, especially those in musculoskeletal muscles, they would not prevent atrophy. Atrophy occurs because of limited use (someone bed ridden) or limited pressure upon the muscles (ie gravity) bigger muscles produced by anabolic steroids would just be bigger, weak muscles in a low/no gravity arena.
There are some great theories on the colonization of Venus, and some good reasons to do it. Venus is closer than Mars, meaning lest fuel to get
there...and
get back. Venus is roughly the same size as Earth, meaning the gravity there would be pretty much the same as here at home. The problem is Venus' runaway global warming! It is closer to the sun meaning it receives more energy making it hotter, the thick clouds of CO2 (with a little Nitrogen and H2SO4 (sulfuric acid)) The surface temp is hot enough to melt lead! Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system so what can we do to colonize it? The best ideas I have heard there is to build floating cities. 30 miles from the surface the pressure is very much like Earth, meaning that a colonist would not need a pressurized suit to walk around (though you would still need Oxygen tanks) . Once Venutian Colonies are built, terraforming could be possible though, those clouds are full of co2 which gives us something we need, O2 or oxygen, we could mine the clouds creating Oxygen for the colonists and raining graphene (a form of Carbon) down on the planet. Intruduction of lots of hydrogen would create water and graphene, the water falling to the surface would create oceans. but any methods of terraforming Venus will be an undertaking unlike anything Humans have done before! But if the atmospherice pressure could be brought down significantly then yes it would be inhabitable. Here is a very good article I found on it...
https://www.universetoday.com/113412/how-do-we-terraform-venus/
Well maybe because thus far a machine has not built a house here on Earth. :) We are moving forward in leaps and bounds in the robotic tech. And I have seen giant 3d printers that built a house so maybe it is finding a way to meld these to fields and get it to Mars first! But I still think that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. And it will be easier for "boots on the ground" to direct either the machines or other "boots on the ground" in the building of the first colonies on Mars. One-Way Light Time (OWLT) from Earth take approximately 4 minutes to reach Mars, meaning that it is at least 8 minutes for Two-Way Light Time (TWLT), Talk about LAG! So it is at least 8 minutes before you know if instructions you sent were even received, this makes controlling something on the surface of Mars very difficult and time consuming. A better way may be for the colonists to direct building from an orbiting ship for a faster response time. incidentally, the average delay for TWLT for the Mars Express is 13 minutes.
Europa has always been a prime candidate for human habitation and quite possibly, life, as beneath the ice it is believed that there is an ocean of water. Tidal flexing from the extreme gravity of Jupiter keeps Europa (the smallest of it's moons) much warmer and quite possibly geothermal activity. It is believed that the ice shelves react as a form of plate techtonics. I think that given our (human) resourcefulness and frontier attitudes that we (humans) could colonize anywhere if we had a reason too. Though it may be more of our adaption that allows us to live in such places rather that trying to find a way to heat these remote moons.
How does a new State or Government obtain recognition by the United Nations?
The recognition of a new State or Government is an act that only other States and Governments may grant or withhold. It generally implies readiness to assume diplomatic relations. The United Nations is neither a State nor a Government, and therefore does not possess any authority to recognize either a State or a Government. As an organization of independent States, it may admit a new State to its membership or accept the credentials of the representatives of a new Government.
The procedure is briefly as follows:
The State submits an application to the Secretary-General and a letter formally stating that it accepts the obligations under the Charter.
The Security Council considers the application. Any recommendation for admission must receive the affirmative votes of 9 of the 15 members of the Council, provided that none of its five permanent members — China, France, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America — have voted against the application.
If the Council recommends admission, the recommendation is presented to the General Assembly for consideration. A two-thirds majority vote is necessary in the Assembly for admission of a new State.
Membership becomes effective the date the resolution for admission is adopted.
At each session, the General Assembly considers the credentials of all representatives of Member States participating in that session. During such consideration, which routinely takes place first in the nine-member Credentials Committee but can also arise at other times, the issue can be raised whether a particular representative has been accredited by the Government actually in power. This issue is ultimately decided by a majority vote in the Assembly. It should be noted that the normal change of Governments, as through a democratic election, does not raise any issues concerning the credentials of the representative of the State concerned.
My thoughts are that Asgardia will need to show that it has the capability of governance. I think that it would help if it had its on nation state, and I only see two ways of that happening, Asgardia Citizens move to Antartica or we build Ocean Colonies whereas each Colony or group of Colonies would serve as a self governing state under the flag of the Asgardia Kingdom.
Another option is to begin being recognized as a governing body by other nation states and UN members until one is willing to back us as a member state.
About 25 years ago when I first read The Millennial Project. But it never seemed like the world was ready, until now. Learning of the Asgardia Kingdom and their future plans I realized that the time was right and that I needed to do my best to help merge the Millennial Project (The Aquarius Project is the first step of ) and the Asgardia Kingdom to make that reality happen.
The main activities will revolve around energy production through the OTEC power plants, Spirulina farms, sea-steading (farming a colony created ecosystem) mining/sifting rare metals from the ocean water and tourism.
In the year 1800 the population of Earth was about 1 billion people. In 1900 the population grew to 1,650,000,000. In 2017 the world population had exploded to over 7.5 Billion people. These people are in competition for food and resources. As we march into the furture this population will continue to grow, current estimates say that by 2050 the population expands to 9.8 Billion and at the turn of the century Earth's population will have eploded to 11.2 Billion. I don't see any choice but to expand to the stars. at what point will the Earth be unable to support the needs of the human population. The nonhuman population (animals) will have all been extinct by this time. I believe that if we don't get off the planet we will witness the destruction of the species and quite possibly the world that we live on.
Absolutely, an operating Ocean Colony would produce electrical energy, Hydrogen (66M tons per day), Distilled Water (175M gallons/day), Protein (algal protein 410 tons/day) and that's not including the seasteading. The algal farms are the begining of an entire ecosystem created around each colony...Each colony would profit from sales of sea food, sea silk, tourism, sifting of magnesium and other rare metals from ocean water...
Parliment Members will be paid a $5oo dollar US stipend per month for service to Asgardia. For a time at least. The Head of Nation and founder of the Asgardia Kingdom, Igor Ashurbeyli , has personally financed the project up until the Asgardia Parliment and Government councils are elected, after which he will pull his personal financing and it will be up to the Asgardia Kingdom to figure their own financing out from that point on. (July 01 2018)
At that time I was mostly writing science fiction so, yes I have always been interested in science, space, and the galaxy. One of the great payoffs for science fiction is the imagining of science future. Through the years we have seen many technological advances that started as science fiction dreams. Just look to Star Trek, communicators = cell phones, automatic opening doors, particle beam weapons, etc.
Right now all you have to do to apply to become a citizen of the Asgardia Kingdom is to follow this link to https://asgardia.space/en/ then click on APPLY in the upper right-hand corner.
Yes the elections are being held through 09 March. Parliment consists of 150 members elected from 13 districts. The districts are selected from the most spoken languages of the citizenship of Asgardia with District 13 being a hodgepodge of the languages left. Here is the election breakdown taken from the Asgardia website;
All of the votes received in each of the district are counted if they do not exceed the number of seats for each district. If they do exceed the number of seats, the most recent votes are counted first.
Example:
Assume the I am from the French district, which receives four seats in Parliament. In this district, four Members of Parliament are to be selected from nine candidates.
I am not nominating myself, only voting for others.
In the French district, I voted for all nine candidates. My votes are given to the four candidates for whom I voted most recently.
In the English district, I voted for three candidates (fewer than the 71 seats in Parliament), so my three votes are given to the three candidates.
In the Russian district, I voted for six candidates (while the number of seats for the Russian district is five), so my votes are given to the five candidates for whom I voted most recently.
Right now, there are no challenges present you simply have to have the desire to become a citizen, read the constitution and then accept it. That's it.
The only actual proof that I know of, is the fossilized bacteria that was found on a meteorite and traced back to Mars. I am not looking for life in outer space, I am attempting to get life
into
outer space. I believe that if we do not get humans into colonies in space, the moon and other planets like Mars, that we are doomed as a species. Eventually, a nuclear exchange will take place and we, as a species, probably will not survive it.
Mainly that it is a clean slate. We will form a new society and I am interested in seeing how it evolves. More than that though I have a belief that as a species we need to begin seeding the galaxy with colonies. It is the only way that I believe we can survive. Every few years a new country acquires nuclear arms, the eventuality is that someone will use them and there will be retaliation and as nuclear exchanges escalate we may not survive as a species. We have to get ourselves beyond Mutually Assured Destruction by getting beyond the range of these weapons. I do not see the feasibility of banning the weapons, you can not force a genie back into it's bottle.
I have had a plethora of hobbies, interests, and jobs. I have 3 wonderful kids and a wife. But in the back of my mind, I have always been looking for an opportunity to start the Aquarius Project, which is the first step of the Millennial Project. I believe in how it could fundamentally change the world.
Have you already told some of the other citizens about your plans of merging the Millennial Project with the Asgardia Kingdom? What do they think of it?
I have, I have been communicating with Engineer Citizens through Facebook to begin discussing my plans to attempt to steer the Asgardia Kingdom in this direction. It has been met with a favorable response from many of them. This was the reason I chose to run for Parliment.
Wih the many Earth-like planets being discovered in the
Goldilocks Zones
it is hard to believe that there could
not
be life out there somewhere but I also believe in the Fermi Paradox which asks if there are aliens, Where Are They? Why haven't we found conclusive proof? Thus far we have not intercepted radio waves or other broadcasts, we have not found conclusive proof of their technologies or had one land at the White House to say "Hi Ya'll"
Thus far, in real life, I have only met citizens that I already knew and had directed towards considering becoming a citizen. Some did, but others I have met in the facebook groups and from what I can tell they are all sharp thinkers and very capable individuals.
I have jumped into this rather late after realizing that most of the platforms of other candidates have no plan only what society they would like to build. They have no idea how to get Asgardia going as a true nation. Now I am trying to get the word out about my platform. It is an uphill battle for sure but I am receiving votes from those that have found me and my platform.
The deep welling process of the OTEC power plants will bring huge amounts of Nitrogen rich waters (from about 3900 feet deep) to the surface. Each Ocean Colony will pump about 43 Billion gallons of this water, extremely rich in Nitrogen , to the surface each day, about 70 tons of organic Nitrogen will be deposited around the Colony each day. Phytoplankton can convert 78 percent of this available Nitrogen into protein. At this rate, 55 tons of Nitrogen would be converted to protein PER DAY! Of the dried weight of agal protein, 13.4 percent is Nitrogen, so 55 tons of Nitrogen makes 410 tons of algal protein each day! Each Colony could produce 195,000 tons of dried algal protein per year (Figures drawn from The Millennial Project written by Marshall T Savage)
Cultivating all these bluegreen algae, Spirulina, will have the added side effect of pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere.
I was born to be a Starship Captain alas I was born in the wrong century. I have dreamed of going to space most of my life but I don't know if it will happen in this lifetime. I can be satisfied though if I am successful in setting up a plan to get the colony there. I will do my work here for their future their.
The Colonies would be built along the Equatorial belt between the tropics and ring the planet. This is the area of the oceans are the warmest, typically between 80F/26.66C and 84F/28.88C degrees. This gives us a rough difference in surface temps and deep water temps, temperatures at 3900ft/1189m at about a 43F/6.1C temperature difference. This temperature difference is vital to how OTEC works. Warm surface water is pumped through an evaporator (low pressure chamber) when the pressure is lowered to .49 psi seawater boils at 80F/26.66C the expanding water vapor turns a turbine creating power. After leaving the turbine the water vapor passes through a condensor unit where cold deep ocean water is pumped through the condensor tubes. The warm water vapor condenses on the tubes producing distilled water and lowering the pressure throughout the system, in turn causing the warm ocean water to boil...thus powering the system.
Asgardia seems to be a new thing since it was announced only in 2016 - have you personally seen the Asgardia-1 that was launched into space? If not, how do you believe something that you haven’t seen with your own eyes?
No, I haven't seen the Asgardia-1, but it's not the satellite that I believe in, it is the 500,000 people from different countries and cultures that have come together to try and make the dream of Asgardia a reality that is worth believing in.
In the future, absolutely, but there are many obstacles to overcome. Solar Radiation, zero gravity, etc. I don't think living permanently in space will be the problem. The physiological changes that the human body will go through from permanent habitat, will most likely mean those that choose to live in Asgardia, might never be able to return to Earth's gravity. Those that decide to leave the station and be once again
ground bound
will probably have to settle for habitat on the moon or possibly Mars.
The biggest challenge is that I decided at the last moment to launch a campaign. I polled citizen engineers on the idea of the Aquarius project and space elevator. As we were and are discussing different aspects of these two steps I began to realize that none of the platforms out there have a real blueprint for funding, getting us recognized as a lawful independent and self-governed nation to the UN. So I decided to run and hopefully help get some of these steps headed in a real and capable direction.
The Ocean Colonies will provide enough of each (power, finance, and protein) for both Terra Firma and the Space Colonies. I imagine 1000's of these Ocean Colonies each producing electrical power, Hydrogen (66M cubic ft per day/Ocean Colony) H20 (175 Million gallons per day per colony) Protein from Spirulina farms (producing 400 tons of protein per colony per day)
While we are trying to get into space it is of utmost importance to save the planet that we are currently on. The biggest pressure we put on the Earth is our gluttonous need for it's resources. We drain the Earth of fossil fuels, burn them and put pollution in the air. We are overfishing the Oceans and burning the rain forests to make room for more buildings and grazing lands.

Yes, my family and friends support in this venture as in most of my others. Maybe, because I am strong willed (hard headed) and driven to accomplish my goals. I have a can do and get out of my way attitude that I think they respect.
As I read over many of the Platforms out there I am finding many people promising UBI (Universal Basic Income), Universal Healthcare, whether we need a military and how much money we can generate in asteroid mining. All noble quests but useless for a Nation State that only exists on a letterhead and Facebook page. We have to have a nation anchor on Terra Firma that is independent of all other nation states. We have to have a GNP to build the wealth of nation before we can build a nation in the stars. I pledge to develop a series of islands from which to build our nation state from.
Phase 1 will be the Aquarius Project, the building of sustainable islands that ring the equator. These islands will allow us to seek recognition from the international community and allow our claims of sovereignty.Sovereignty will grant us the authority of a state and allow us to govern ourselves. Secondly, the Aquarius Project will allow us to begin developing a GNP that will fund phases 2 and 3 of Asgardia.
Phase 2, The Bifrost Project, will be the building of a space elevator that will be attached to one of our islands from the Aquarius Project. Bifrost will be built to lift cargo to 70 miles above the Earth’s surface, thus relinquishing the need for cost prohibitive and unreliable rockets.Once the Bifrost Bridge is in place, we will finally move to Phase 3.
Phase 3, the Asgard Project, in this phase, building on the accomplishments of Aquarius and Bifrost, we will begin building the great nation in the stars.
What we are missing in the Asgardia Kingdom right now is a blueprint to the orbiting city. I have found one and I pledge to give the Asgardian community DIRECTION to accomplish our goals. .
Personally, I don't think that one nation in it's lonesome, should lead the first step towards an Ocean Colony. Rather, a cooperative front of multiple nations leading the endeavor. One nation alone leading the endeavor would not be as beneficial compared to the collaboration and teamwork of multiple nations.
I voted again for you Spers, I'm waiting please for your revote confirmation of the final round, Good Luck, https://asgardia.space/en/elections/candidates/Arabic/23829/

I am a 26 year old veteran that has the know how and experience to provide security for this great idea collective, I have the ideas to protect this great new nation of like minded thinking people for the future. In order for this ideal to proceed it must have a person that that knows how to defend and protect all involved. How do we provide protection to people in every nation? One problem that I forsee is trying to either impose or protect some law in every other sovereign territory. an Asgardian who generally commits crimes in the eyes of Asgardia - but in their homelands - cannot easily be prosecuted. Or the prosecution is powerless (I hypothesize) if there is no justification for the perception of criminality in the nation where the act is perpetrated.
Meanwhile, if we wanted to defend a right of a citizen somewhere where the right is not recognized, we would not necessarily have just authority to engage in policing or security in those nations in defense of those rights. That is to say, their law would not justify our practices even though we might feel very strongly our Asgardian citizens have those rights.
What do we do to overcome these twin problems of being decentralized in a world of old centralized powers?

The point of the Aquarius Project is to funnel both energy and finance into the Asagardia Project. This is done by creating islands around an OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Converter). This would be the largest solar project ever achieved as there is approximately 200 Million Megawatts waiting to be tapped. Energy will become one of Asgardia's primary exports. Energy that is not derived from petroleum, energy that is not ripped from the Earth.

Dear Asgardian Brothers!
Tomorrow 04-04, we remember the 50 years of the death of the "Man who had a dream".
Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the perssonalities that had great influence in my formation.
I do not need to tell you how much this man has been or should be important to all who fight for equality in the broadest sense.
Let's take this date to reflect a bit on how hard we are actually doing to make Martin Luther King Jr's dream a reality. There are few people on the face of the earth who are worthy of good memories. This home is one of them. In a society where we used to construct statues for criminals and Genocides, and give names to Streets, Parks and Avenues, honoring Hypocrites without character, we Asgardians must express our respect for the ideals of this enlightened human being named Martin Luther King Jr.

Everyone wants to talk about getting to space. Trust me i have the same goals in mind. However we have to remain realistic. Both with the possibilities and the time frame this will happen.
So here is my input on the future of space occupation. We will Fail.
Really! We are going to fail?
Im not trying to be negative. Just realistic.
Failure is not a bad thing. In fact it is what pushes us to do better. If we do not let Failure get to us we will accomplish great things.
There is a famous qoute. Most should have heard it before.
"I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that wont work." Thomas Edison
If we remember this and hold it true we never will truly fail.
There are several steps it will take to get a base going. several years if not decades.
In my opinion one of the best ways we could accomplish this feat is utilizing Tesla Boring Technology.
This New Boring system will be 100% automated. The machine is planned to be able to dig and lay support all by itself. The current system is digging the tunnel and a separate machine that will lay the support. Doubling the manpower needed.
But why spend so much time digging a settlement opposed to a modular system?
Ok i know it is just a movie. But The Martian starring Matt Damon brought up a serious issue.
One of the Airlocks Malfunctioned Blowing out a piece of the Hab. And to my amazement he fixed it with "Space Duct Tape" I laughed so hard at that by the way. That was the most nerve racking thing about the movie. Just a thin material and duct tape between you and the harsh martian elements.
Having a Base Literally part of the planet, would protect against a vast majority of the elements. It would also Better allow us to insulate and regulate temperatures inside.
Having several Airlock redundancies would protect against total failure and would give time for repairs to be made.
Once a main shaft is built off shoots can be constructed with smaller compartments. This means man power. If you want to colonize space it wont be just sitting at a desk with an augmented reality display.
It will be dirty, and it will be stress full. And i hope all of you out there are ready. I know i am, and if the funding was there. I would be the first to sign up. It will take blood sweat and tears to make our dream a reality.
This is still very far off. I just wanted to give a realistic approach to a topic that id heavily debated straying from what would even be possible.

If you read my Parliament platform and the post 'Road map to a realistic future' I'm sure you and I would have a lot to discuss.

I agree with you, bad word choice on my end.. It was more of a response to the plethora of posts about living in space. I just wanted to give a realistic approach.. This would cut down tremendously on supplies needed for construction.
Good ideas here! However, and this is just a personal feeling, I resent the word "colonisation" as I feel we should start afresh with different concepts rather than having the expansive ways of the past. Maybe "exploration" could be more neutral? Anyway, just my 2 cents!

With the age debate over we must now focus on the future. It is vital that we come together as a nation and make progress. While there still needs to be change regarding the age requirement we must follow the Constitution as it currently stands. When Parliament is in session they can address the issue for future Elections. This isn't discouraging, if anything it is driving me more to be apart of the change we need. We must not be bound to the politics and norms of the past. We must branch out and evolve. Asgardia is revolutionary, its laws should follow suit. We cannot repeat the past. The past has proven inefficient and non functional. It may be a risk to take but with no risks taken how can we expect anything other than the same broken politics that already exist today.
I invite all to read my platform.. Currently it is still tailored to Parliament but i plan to roll out updates frequently. Also please follow my twitter handle for communication
