This flag proposal works on 2 levels: physical and metaphysical. On a physical level, it is a representation of the Earth viewed in space together with the Moon that casts its shadow over the Earth. On a metaphysical level it is a reinterpretation of the Yin and Yang symbol, that, suffice to say, in the Chinese philosophy stands for the primordial forces that make up the universe: darkness and light.
