ASGARDIAN LANGUAGE - NEW AND SIMPLE FOR ALL - KLINGONIAN DO EXIST ALREADY
We await the involvement of linguists, philologists and other people able to accomplish this project to create the asgardian language

We already have one language on Earth which is easy to learn : Esperanto !
Beat me too it.
Esperanto is an entirely fabricated language that is actually very simple to learn. (And I'm terrible at learning languages)

I think that Esperanto language should be used, with modifications by representation in the native languages of citizens.
I disagree with you eirene. I speak portuguese and i don't think esperanto is easy to learn at all. I believe we should continue with english as the main language.

This is not an urgent subject !
Глупая затея, от которой вреда несоизмеримо больше чем пользы. польза вообще есть?

This is wrong - Earth already has too many languages, only making differences between people. If this page was written in a new language, would any one of you be here now? Would any Chinese choose to learn Asgardian as second language and when would he perfect it? 30 years later? We need Asgardian language to be made of all the existing languages, with instant text and speech translation software. It already exists. Check another petition named "Asgardian language - Universal language" for more details.
Confirm!
Asgardia Space might look towards more advanced radio astronomy; sending of light signals through space via 22bit strings of visual binary code, in an ultra-high bandwidth. There is some relationship between extra low-frequency waves, sound waves, and ultra-high waves containing light code signals. An Asgardian language might consist of light before sound; geometry before phonetics.
Asgardia could make own sentences or words used only in Asgardia that only we understand . As '' secret code'' xD Language with diffrent sound (frequency) or develope Asgardian English with a diffrent intonation.
Already exist a language fore every country is the esperanto
I support the author because We have 12 official languages and for ease of communication it would be nice to have 1 language so that everyone understands each other.
The EU had 24 official languages hahaha.
As for me, Asgardia should have its own alphabet: it would be cooler.
I think english will do. It is very very easy to learn.
I agree. It is the most used language on earth, and if someone have problems, it is possible to use google translate from any known language yet. (google translate is available in offline mode too)

I think we dont need any national language, and merely have a kind of operational language (in which parliament and legal documents are written in). The notion of a single culture to a single nation is a fairly recent concept and this nation is not one with its own culture, but encompasses all human culture, so any national language that exists would be one of humanity itself, not of the nations creation. The creation of such a language would drift towards nationalism and such things can escalate dangerously as has happened many times historically (see 1930s Germany or Irish independence).
If we do make an Asgardian language, then we should make sure this language is accessible to ALL humans, including the Deaf-Blind.

As a former soldier, I have traveled to many countries on our planet. I have learned survival words in many languages. I am not a linguist. I tried to learn Esperanto and found it very difficult. Spanish, French and German were much easier. I am NOT fluent in any language other than English. What I have learned by listening to other people talk is that the predominant common language they had seems to be English. For this and the following reasons I believe English should be the Asgardian language.
1. English is the youngest language I am aware of.
2. English is flexible and is still being developed.
3. English is already spoken to some degree in almost every country on earth.

I don't know... The only languages i am fluent in are Romanian and English.

In my opinion, that would be too complicated. The most prevalent is English.
统一的语言能够更加方便你我之间的交流,但是针对一门新语言普及和教育也需要花费一些时间。
May take a long time. It is best for everyone to master English as it is the world's first language.
Аз не виждам нищо лошо в паралелното използване на няколко езика в Канада и Швейцария

I had barely learnt english
I couldn't agree more.

Klingon is cool, but I think that eventually there will be linguistic drift. Asguardians will naturally develop their own language much like the Trade Languages in Africa, or like the corruptions of latin that became the Romance Languages. Lets see what Asgardia does. Whatever people speak the most should be the National Language. Provisions should be made for all Asgardian communications to reflect the language of the citizens until an official language is established. Even then, official communications should be in more than one language. The constitution needs to provide for linguistic changes. We need to be flexible.

Languages evolve. Esperanto is a good example of a created, common language, yes, but it has been around for a while now and I have yet to meet someone who has tried to learn it, let alone can speak fluently. I'm sure when we move to colonies, in space or other planets, a common language will eventually evolve. Just as all modern languages have evolved, it will be far more robust and easier for all to learn naturally than a created one. Until then there's always Google Translate! (other translating software exist)

I say no to a new language. I say no to a single language. Google translate is already quite good and spoken word versions are in development (Google Search). Plus if Asgardia manages to pull off what Dr Igor envisages then we will have a nation of intellectuals that can think tank and make sci-fi a reality. A unified language is way down the list. Let's become a nation first.
Common language idea sounds cool but also sounds so hard to make it real. I am not sure if everybody can learn it.
We can use international language English.
I agree we have to, in a long term, have one language for Asgardia.
My opinion is that we have to create one from scratch, very simple to learn, with basic rules.
By the way, if someone is interrested, we're already creating one
I think for first is Na'vi (From the Movie Avatar) not bad.
The language sounds very melodic and a dictionary is already available. Of course, the vocabulary is still very limited, but with enough resourceful minds the language could expand rapidly.

It would be counterproductive to develop yet another language for the sole purpose of having our own language. English is known as at least a second language by most educated people on Earth. Its what this site is written in. Resources should not be devoted to making communication more difficult. Over time an Asgardian slang will naturally emerge and eventually qualify as a separate language. We should let this happen organically vs force something contrived down everyone's throat at this point in time.

If communication is to be helped by adopting a language then by necessity as few barriers as possible should be put in place to that adoption. Creating a new language from scratch would make every grammatical point and every word a barrier to understanding, thus negating the entire point of having the language. What would be most sensible is to start from an existing set of rules and words, then subtracting anything that makes learning and speaking it difficult for non native speakers. Removing irregular verbs and applying the rules behind regular verbs to the word base in order to create logical and easily understandable alternatives. Where words share identical meanings deleting the more complicated and keeping the most simple. Make pronunciations phonetic, etc. If it was done in this manner then we would instantly have a language that would be improved over time, rather than having to waste years developing a language that is a bar to entry and a barrier to communication with the nations of Earth.
im agree with create a new lenguage, not in use other, and well may be be easy to learn if we create ways to make asgardians can study it easy.
for now I will prefer better translation systems.
I am completely agree with Haroeris. The man said everything.
BTW. Beside my Serbian native language I have learned in school English, from TV German and little bit Spanish. And now I'm trying to learn Japanese from internet.

Language is like a any tool, the more you use it, the better you become.
Now is internet, movies, animes, comic/manga & books mostly on English. Which is good for practice and there you go, we have common language.
Try programming/coding in IT, English is much better choice.
I hope you guys get it now better picture. :D
Tumo out.
I guess that English is good for communicating with each other, but talking about a unified language I preffer Klingon instead of creating a new one
