No additional comments were added. **Department Roundtable Updates** **Administration (Nik).** Getting caught up after being on break. Revised project submission memo and proposal guide; reposted to staff areas for cross-posting. Finished department Scope & Staffing Outline for Projects area. Staff approved. No responses to query emails for intake interviews for new candidates. **Media (Ryan).** Buzz is fading, time to review and assess current needs. Community involvement is lower. Hard to play middle-man between tiers of the community. Working to to coordinate news release and contact with internal media and officials. Will try to position C.A. media closer to NGO Asgardia content staff. Recognizing the schism between community who desires involvement and those who possess the technical skills. The big picture needs technical help, not social help. Professional help has fallen out of social engagement. **Projects (Dominic).** Strong focus will be for Projects to slow down engagement attrition. Idea submissions is underwhelming; partially community engagement and promotion. Ideas received thus far do have merit but do require significant development. Round A of proposal development is still being tested. **Localisation / Archives / US Advocate (Christina)** The US chapter needs more engagement due to changes in staffing. Localization seems to not be needed as much right now; shifting it to lower priority. **Chapters (Alan).** Acclimating to new position. Looking forward to department overview. Large challenges with engagement and activation of advocates and staff. There have been several resignations and releases, thus leaving vacancies. Four new chapters are being initiated. Developing a standardized approach to Facebook presentation, staffing positions, and the release of news updates. If we cannot reconcile unofficial pages with the more active chapters, we make a few contact attempts then proceed forward with supporting active groups; if an existing page or group is inactive or cannot be aligned then we continue to move forward as best we can. Social Media staff are asked to keep an eye out for active members who show constructive initiative for potential engagement with their national chapter. **Issues** Much discussion about community engagement and involvement. Professional contributions have waned. Improve Science-Technology-Engineering-Maths (STEM) research engagement, open-source scientific community. Allow credentialled conversations. May need to go back to promotional and planned posts. Follow member suggestion of topic of the week, a safe place that is heavily monitored, in order to encourage orderly conversation. Safe environment, psychological space free from trolls. Explore Ryan’s paper on safe spaces. Format the report for release to staff release and one for community release to encourage respectful discussions. The shift from Posting Guidelines > Code of Conduct shift was delayed. The Code may work better than ‘rules’... explanations and reasoning are less punitive than guidelines. Create a Scientific / Professional advisory panel can help with constructive community and technical engagement. Ought consider using community standards of professional status, yet balanced with social skills. Can provide technical guidance to member discussions. Improve circulation of news and updates across chapters. **Official Updates (Rebekah)** Community engagement is down. Officials are responding by providing more news and content. There has been much work; officials are very focused on “doing” and it can be hard to remember to “tell” about everything that occurs. Officials are planning to build infrastructure for increased technology workload that allows for more collaboration and partnerships. Groundwork is being laid for future development. Hello all! The team to start compiling the community suggestions for the Asgardia Consitution has been gathered and are now working on pulling all of the great suggestions from the Asgardia community into one document. They will be gathering all suggestions made up until and including February 26, 2017 and compiling them in the below document. The community can view their progress but will not be able to input their suggestions, only the community members can. Please be respectful of their work and of them giving what spare time they have to help complete this important project. There is a deadline of March 31, 2017 set for completion with a stretch date of April 15, 2017. After, this document will be sent to a legal team who has experience in constitution law to pull together into a full legal document. Hello everyone! Big news today in regards to the Constitution. Lena de Winne has posted a request of the community to help in gathering a summary of all of the great suggestions that have been made by everyone. "Legal experts of the Asgardia team will very soon start preparing a draft Asgardia Constitution. Asgardia community members have been discussing this a lot over the past months. A number of very good ideas on the issues to be covered in the Constitution have been put forward. May I kindly ask you to make a summary document with all the ideas which the community wants to propose to be covered in the Constitution?" So, in order to expedite things, we ask people to please reply to this post with your name if you are willing to help out with this request. We need at least four willing people to help out with this as it needs to be done in a very timely manner. **EDIT FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION** We are **NOT** putting together a constitution, we are **compiling suggestions** from all of the community into a document for legal experts with experience in constitution law to put together into a draft to be reviewed and voted on by the community. No **one** draft of a community created constitution will be considered as a whole. It will be **reviewed** for merit and will be compiled with all of the other community member suggestions in the document. For the sake of **transparency**, all community members who help with the compilation will have their names posted in a working thread within this sub forum as well as a view only link to the working document for the community to view the progress. As details about the legal team are released, it will be posted in the working thread as well. Deadline for people to step forward will be this Saturday, February 25 at 9pm -5 GMT. All persons who offer to help will receive an email from the adminteam on Sunday, February 26 during the same timezone day. The link to the working document will be posted on Monday, February 27. Any constitution suggestions made after Sunday, February 26, 2017 will not be included in the compilation. We cannot keep up with all new suggestions and compile the ones already put forth here in this forum and through other social media outlets. Also, only the compilation document created by the community team of volunteers from this thread will be submitted to Asgardia Official. Hello Asgardians! Civic.Asgardia is spearheading several initiatives and creating a proposal for a program that would promote access to technology, equipment, and training is one of them. The name of this program is subject to change. Basis of the program came from a suggestion of donations of computers/computer components to people who could not own one or upgrade to the next level. People unable to upgrade their phones as the demands of mobile technology and data grows greater. Some are unable to get the basic computer training they need to acquire a better paying means of employment. **EDIT: Expanding for a clearer understanding of what this initiative is meant to be:** What is suggested is making technology accessible to those who cannot afford it. Yes, the Raspberry Pi computer is a great way to allow everyone to get a computer, the logistics and funding of that could be worked into this initiative. However, think about the functioning computer pieces that many people have lying around their house but they did not make the move into their next upgrade. Not everyone takes it to a tech recycling place (I'm still trying to find a legit one in my city) and it eventually ends up in a landfill. Why not pass along those older components to people in their local area whom that component would be an upgrade? An old laptop that has been sitting on a shelf after the newest one has been purchased could go to someone who desperately needs a laptop to do some consulting work. The last version of video card sitting in an old case and motherboard in a corner or closet somewhere could go to a community member who needs those components to finish building a computer to use for school or their children to use for school? Someone who's found the perfect job but they have no clue how to put together a power point presentation and the online resources are too confusing could benefit from the expertise of either in person or remote tutoring on the programming and putting together an effective presentation. Same could go for any program needed to upgrade skills or take that extra step to be more marketable or help someone actually put together that system that they've gathered peices for or troubleshooting a tricky software glitch they have but can't afford to take their system to the repair place. Arranging a monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly 'Asgardian Tech Swap' where community members could get together with their spare components and swap them to help others out? Start a 'tech wanted' list for the community online that people could post up what they're looking for or tutoring needed and others could arrange to help. Eventually it could be moved into a larger program where fund raising could bring computers and internet into third world village schools or community centers to help them to start to catch up with the rest of the world. So please, try to think along these lines. Keep it simple, obtainable and of true benefit to the community. --- We would like for this to promote Asgardian’s helping Asgardians as well as their local communities. From February 1 - 28, 2017 we are opening up the floor to community input on what the program would entail. When the suggestion period closes, we will be opening up spaces on the committee to put together the proposal for the application to be submitted to Asgardia Official for their approval. Hello Asgardians! The first round of quarterly project proposals for 2017 is beginning. It will run from Feb 1 - Mar 31, 2017. We have developed a project proposal guide that has been approved by Asgardia Official to help the Asgardian community contribute to the building of our nation. This proposal guide helps Civic.Asgardia, the civil branch of Asgardia, to prepare cogent and concise material for review to obtain an official endorsement. The goal of a project proposal is to: 1. Identify what needs to happen 2. Explain why it needs to be done 3. Persuade the reader that your team has wisely considered a problem and has a realistic plan and resources prepared to perform the required tasks. In addition to having a consistent, attractive appearance, the information should be easy to access. It should be well-organized. Balance an easily scannable overview with sufficient technical details to demonstrate that your team has thought through the process. **Download the Project Proposal Guidelines Document pdf** ###**Guidelines** **Prerequisites:** Project Leads must be verified Asgardia Members. Only one (1) proposal may be submitted at a time by any member. **Proposal Formatting:** Proposals must be submitted in an electronic format following the outline established in this guide. Text must be in English and maintain a simple Arial 12 point, single spaced, 0.5” indents presentation. Accepted submission formats are view-links to cloud storage (such as Google Docs, Microsoft OneDrive) or stand-alone material in a .DOC/.DOCX format. **Organization:** Your proposal should have material organized into Front Matter, Main Body and Supporting Documents. **Deadline:** Submission rounds occur each quarter of the year. Completed proposals must be submitted by the END date of each round. Proposals received after this date will be entered into the next round. Documents must be emailed to adminteam@asgardia.space with a subject of “Proposal: (title).” **Response:** Endorsements will be announced in the months following the submission deadline.
