Tahirih, also known as Qurrat al-Ayn, was a prominent poetess and scholar in 19th-century Iran. She was a fearless advocate for women's rights and a vocal critic of the oppressive patriarchy that dominated Iranian society at the time. Her assassination in 1852 by religious zealots was a tragic event that shook the country to its core. Tahirih's life and work were shaped by the tumultuous political and social landscape of 19th-century Iran. At the time, the country was undergoing a period of significant change, with various factions vying for power and influence. Tahirih was a member of a religious movement called the Babi Faith, which sought to challenge the dominance of the Islamic clergy and promote a more egalitarian society. As a woman in a male-dominated society, Tahirih faced numerous obstacles in pursuing her education and expressing her ideas. However, she refused to be silenced and used her poetry and writings to advocate for women's rights and gender equality. In particular, she argued that women should have the same access to education and political participation as men. Unfortunately, Tahirih's outspokenness and activism made her a target of the conservative religious establishment, who saw her as a threat to their power and influence. In 1852, she was lured to a meeting under false pretenses and subsequently assassinated by religious zealots who opposed her ideas and influence. Tahirih's last words were a powerful testament to her commitment to women's liberation. As she was being strangled to death, she cried out: "You can kill me as soon as you like, but you cannot stop the emancipation of women!" Tahirih's legacy is an important reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the dangers faced by those who dare to challenge patriarchal power structures. In many parts of the world, women still face significant barriers to education, political participation, and basic human rights. The fight for gender equality is far from over, and Tahirih's courage and commitment continue to inspire those who seek to create a more just and equitable society. Today, Tahirih's message is more important than ever, as women continue to face inequality and discrimination in many parts of the world. Despite significant progress in some areas, there is still a long way to go before women achieve true equality in all aspects of life. Tahirih's life and legacy serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for women's rights, and her words continue to resonate with those who seek to create a more just and equitable society. OHOU! I have sent a message to support@asgardia.space detailing the issue and am still waiting to hear from them. In the meanwhile, the profiles of 8 out of 10 new added friends return the same problem when attempting to send private messages: "An error occurred. Try again later." I received suggestions (thanks Ethan!) to test on mobile vs. laptop (even tested with Opera touch, a nice and smooth browser) but had the same results with the same error messages on Android.
