I disagree with your view on this topic. •

“Better person” is subjective, first of all. This sentence holds the assumption that one cannot live a fulfilling, informed, or meaningful existence without incorporating religious elements into one’s life. This is a subjective experience you are expressing as this is not the case for me. There is nothing so exclusively valuable in religious teachings that it cannot be found objectively anywhere else.

 Again, that is a subjective experience. Though this observation may be something that resonates with you, it’s not a universal experience for those with an atheistic disposition. •

 First of all, you are failing to consider the historical and cultural context with which many of these early scientists lived; many of these early scientists would be tortured and burned as heretic for providing any sort of evidence against the conventional teachings of the Catholic church which, then, held a lot of state government power. Galileo’s insistence that the Earth revolved around the Sun, and not the other way around as was taught by the Church, actually caused Galileo to be convicted for heresy. Even if any of these early scientists were atheistic, they sure as heck wouldn’t have been open about it. 
Not to mention the basic principals of evolution didn’t start solidifying until 1859, which is 132 years after the death of the chronologically lattermost scientist you mentioned, Isaac Newton. 
Secondly, to quote Neil DeGrasse Tyson, “Does it mean, if you don’t understand something, and the community of physicists don’t understand it, that means God did it? Is that how you want to play this game? Because if it is, here’s a list of things in the past that the physicists at the time didn’t understand [and now we do understand] [...]. If that’s how you want to invoke your evidence for God, then God is an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance that’s getting smaller and smaller and smaller as time moves on - so just be ready for that to happen, if that’s how you want to come at the problem.”

This is a subjective feeling you are having. I was raised 17 years of my life within a theistic religious structure and did not acquire a fully developed sense of true empathy until after I left my religious teachings behind; the empathy I learned was through normal human interaction. Because that is literally all it takes. Again, there is nothing so exclusively valuable in religious teachings that it cannot objectively be found elsewhere. The practices, of religious teachings are social constructs and social constructs can be created outside of religious disciplines. 
In fact, my religious upbringing allowed for me to “other” outsiders and restrain empathy for them and their behaviors that conflicted with my religious teachings. 
 So in final summation, sure, co-existence is possible because people already co-exist in these conditions as it is. If you are asking if we, as Asgardians, should attempt to hybridize scientific understanding with theistic religious teachings in order to become “whole,” the answer is no because it is too subjective and would be a great imposition to people like me whom feel just fine and complete without religious teachings, thank you very much.

hola creo que en asgardia el tema de la religion debe de tratarse mas como... individualista ya que es en este tema donde todo se convierte en caos, en buscar a la rama a la que se pertenece o en que si no piensan iguale ya no vale. esta es una gran oportunidad para ser abiertos de mente y sensoriales lograr conseguir algo mas grande aparte de dividirnos por el simbolo de la fe. hello i believe that in asgardia the subject of religion must be treated more like individualist since it is in this topic where everything becomes chaos, in search of the branch to which one belongs or in which if they do not think the same not worth it. this is a great oportunity to be open minded and sensory achieve something larger apart from dividing us bythe symbol of faith.

I entirely agree to Sylvain Rochon. (fr ?) There is strong AI and weak AI, weak AI simulate using algorythm like CBR, strong one are alive. One day, maybe humans will upgrade herself inside the cyberspace, then the difference between AI and human brain will become blurry, until then, giving basic right to ANY evolved life form, could be a good idea, if i were a alien, i would not visit earth, they don't garantee alien's rights and safety ^^

As a futurist, technologist and engineer myself, AI will be very important to Asgardia, but not because it is special. AI is already all around us in our pockets, web and applications. Intelligent or "smart" systems will just keep evolving to serve their purpose better, which is to say to serve our purpose. They have no emotions or goals that are self-initiated. We could call them SI (Simulated Intelligence) as one of you put it. We can and should keep progressing with those ideally until the point where humans are hardly needed to work at all, and can enjoy life and passions to our fullest capabilities. This is what I believe is the destiny of Humans: to be free and creative contributors to society, not because we need to do eat and sleep, but because it is felt in our bones and we need to. "True AI" in this conversation however needs to be defined as AI that is advanced enough to develop a form of true consciousness. This is an entirely different debate, one that has been tackled many times in science fiction, most notably in some famous episodes of Star Trek: TNG when the sentience of the character Data is put on the stand. Ultimately, humans are organic machines and we are programmed to certain functions ourselves, to be creative and adaptive. We have a brain that is elastic and can change as well (reprogrammed) at our whim. We regenerate and procreate, creating new little "organic computers" that run around and gain purpose of their own based on their free will. Will we make AI one day that has free will? Question is more along the lines of whether future AI will be able to create one, or if we'll make one, for whatever reason. One that can reprogram it's purpose that is. The question is invariably "Yes". It is part of our nature to do what can be done, even if it is risky. So circling back to AI Policy. I don't think there is a need to discuss primitive AI. However, if one day AI sentience emerges, whether the AI itself is built around a "body" that is organic, metallic or other, they should be treated with the same respect as humans in my opinion. We're perhaps 15-20 years away from this point though, so I think there is limited need to discuss this right now.
