There's so many thrilling things about Asgardia. However,  for me, the most exciting and natural one to start with is the sense of opportunity. As the world's first space nation, we have a unique and compelling opportunity like no other: a chance not to start from scratch but leverage the knowledge gleaned from the past to build something worthy of the future.

Asgardia represents the opportunity to take a well-deserved break from trying to topple an unequal status quo and create one that's outright better to begin with.

Who Am I?

I am a young journalist living in Australia. I am passionate about history, technology, film, TV, video games and books.

Living in a country that's very much dominated by a two-party politics. I hope that the open-ended nature of Asgardia will allow me to have my say in a way that traditional politics doesn't necessarily allow.

What Will I Do If Elected?

Strive to ensure Asgardia develops strong, articulate and evidence-based policies in addressing concerns around inequality, media laws,  technology, economics, ecological sustainability and free speech.

I abhor the idea that the world exists in black and white. In all that I do, I am driven to explore and delve into the nuance in the world - no matter how contradictory.

In particular, I want to focus on helping Asgardia develop norms and regulations that enshrine and encourage a diverse and accurate media landscape. The news is a public good. We should take a more direct role in maximizing the good it can do.

Asgardia is perceived by many as a initiative that gains no ground, a dream for some that were born far too early for 'intergalactic' exploration/colonization/diplomacy [E.C.D], a dream of a star-wars lifestyle. but personally for me the Nation of Asgardia is much more then such. The first significant steps for a united humanitarian nation, the first steps to breaking down this agenda of Statewide-Nationalism that has plunged humanity into crisis for over thousands of years.

Asgardia brings light on the discussion of a united humanity, a people united under the one flag and one anthem. Although this perception of humanity is still in her infancy and seen as impossible by some, personally I would argue once humanity perfects intergalactic E.C.D and intelligent extra-terrestrial life is discovered, humanity will expel the concept of humanity being the only intelligent life in the universe, therefor uniting the people of earth to pursue the protectionism and conservation of the Human Race.

However this unification of humanity does not need to begin souly after the perfection of intergalactic E.C.D, and that is exactly what Asgardia is doing, we are laying the foundational steps for when such interaction happens so we will have a back-bone to develop and build onto.
And this for me is the utmost important initiative that humanity could be progressing towards as of right now, and for such to progress fluently and smoothly the leadership of such should be compiled of Educated and passion-driven people of the cause.

For me the unification of humanity does not mean the expulsion of ones culture/religion/ethnicity, although united under the one nationality, to express pride in ones culture from where your origins lay is also a significant factor in the identity of a human.

I'd like to be considered for the honor of a position in the government in what is, and will be, one of the most unique and history changing concepts since the wheel was invented. A nation, that is in all aspects a nation for the whole world. I can think of no better legacy to leave our children, and our children's children, than a world where people are respected and treated by their humanity, not because of their origins and/or backgrounds.

Listen. Reflect. Plan. Act. Those are the four words my mother taught me to live by. She always said that "A good talker is a great liar". Claiming that I am the best candidate is not provable but I'll let you gut feeling decide. Whosoever gets to be part of Asgardia's leadership, let's all thrive for honesty, transparency, prosperity, and equality for all Asgardians.

Hi there, my name is Peter Cartledge and, like you, I have recently become an Asgardian. Since childhood, I have always looked to the future. I have done this while always being mindful of the past. I don't believe we should be slaves to our past, as individuals, as communities, states or nations.

I have dreamed of humanity spreading out beyond the confines of Earth, to seek out knowledge, make discoveries and grow into a healthy society where the group is respected and this individual is cherished.

To this end, I seek a position in the governance of Asgardia, to help steer us along a path never taken before in all of human history. A path that leads to the right of each and every individual to seek out, find and achieve their own potential while at the same time building a strong, supportive and nurturing community.

Well, I can't believe I am a member of Asgardia. It has been a dream of mine since early childhood to be involved in affairs beyond the Earth's atmosphere and Asgardia has allowed me to realise this dream. To this end, I will devote all my efforts to making Asgardia a solid reality, a place of hope, adventure, exploration and knowledge.

I want Asgardia to be what most people in the world want their home to be. A place of peace, security and opportunity.

I want Asgardian citizenship to be something everyone will aspire to and something everyone will cherish. I want it to be the beginning of the end of terrestrial jealousies and conflicts. I want everyone to become Asgardian.

Let's move ahead and see what we can build here. We are in this together, all of us.

So, here it is. I embark on my journey to space today, on board the space station Asgardia.

I was amongst the lucky 5% to have found out about this project before everybody else, and managed to guarantee my seat at the table.

I'm confident with time, my peers will come to understand the gravity of my intellect, and that in order for Asgardia to thrive, I need it's responsibilities on my shoulders.

My day is coming.

It's my fate.

Our present and our future are all entwined as we bravely step forward into the unknown to create a better world and indeed a better universe for us all and for those who come after us. It will be difficult at first and we will face many challenges but if we remember the reason for it all, the purpose; we shall not falter.

I firmly believe that Asgardia should refrain from a Constitutional Monarchy. The proposition should be withheld from the final Constitution. The proposed system is far too outdated, and has no place in the state of the future. Rather, we should shift our focus to a technocratic governmental system. As we see in modern Britain, a monarch is but an unnecessary formality that only remains today because of conservative and sentimental views. Not efficient or logical, at all, and not fitting of the world's first space nation. I am sure most citizens agree from what I've seen. This is not what Asgardia was meant to be, and I hope we can change that before it is set in the Constitution. I will leave a poll going so people can share their opinions on this matter in a clean and easily review-able format. Thank you, hoping the best for the future of Asgardia. Our first mistake cannot be our last.

I'd like to start by apologising if this is in the wrong category, but I have a suggestion.

As of yet it would seem as if there is no agreed upon way to handle leap years in the Asgardian calendar, so I have a proposal. I think every four years we should change Year Day to Sol Day (or something in the same vain), and allocate that day 48 hours rather than 24. That way we don't need leap-year calendars or anything, it simply becomes an extension of Year Day. We don't really need to even change the name of Year Day every four years, but I think it's nice to give that longer day some differentiation; it seems quite special. As Asgardia is a space nation, we don't need to worry about Earth's day-night cycles as much. Allowing a day to span over two nights seems rather fitting.
