The problem with burning gas like that is it's primitive, caveman primitive. It's not surprising much failed to occur via. Also, splitting the hydrogen via electrolysis would of offset any "efficiency gains" of the process. Nowadays hydrogen generators can be quite compact and not all utilise combustion. Some of these can recycle 99.9999% and thusly run for months on a litre, and we can split the hydrogen off chemically, too, potentially with on-demand capacity meaning there's little requirement to store hydrogen, as hydrogen. Other things that may fit your "psudoscience" definition would be the likes of Shawyer's EM-Drive and Rossi's E-Cat reactor. Although possibly not good examples as both of these systems have papers out for peer review, but they're commonly viewed as "pseudoscience" purely because folks are generally unable to sufficiently explain the mechanism on which they operate. This doesn't mean they don't operate, however. IMHO the only way to truely confirm/discount something is to actually build a model and test it... Granted, I'm not instantly able to ascertain the operating mechanism of for example, but that's not to say it doesn't operate. Although not the clearest diagram I've ever read, it's obvious they seem to think this can power two residential fridge compressors(does this get hot?) constantly, and has capacity for other devices. There's only so much it's possible to learn from such a diagram, with the next logical step to build and test. I think I understand a little better, but am still slightly shoeless. I postulate it operates via some interactions of rotating and counter-rotating magnetic fields providing for linear acutation - or linear acutation providing for rotation. Maybe even both. The only way to truely find out is to build, test - experiment.
