i agree with xuthal..the near near future will bring correct and immediate translation of the spoken word... in my opinion a "meaning" will take more time to be completely transported via short texting in a forum...but it will be possible if we think future tough.. i think a common language would be great.. even if it would be something completely new. for now and for pragmatic reasons only i would stick to the most common language used ONLINE.(as we are online for now) i think we all know what that is:) and if that changed let me know http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats7.htm warm greetings A's

Completely accurate, context aware "Universal Translators" will never happen, because they would require the machine to read a person's mind. Anything that strays from formal language will become completely incomprehensible. Choosing a language, as opposed to letting "Translators" do the work, is the only option. Whether it be Mandarin, English, Esperanto, or Lojban.

The creation of a language would be a wasteful task. Technology is improving the automated translations at a very high speed. Within a few years we will be able to auto translate everything correctly and there will be instant sound translation to follow for sure. It would be more usefull to ensure that the translation technology is applied to these forums as soon as possible, So that all citizens can use a shared platform, instead of different forums for each language.
