The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission is a spacecraft designed to impact an asteroid as a test of technology to see if it can change the motion of an asteroid in space. The goal of the mission is to see if intentionally crashing a spacecraft into an asteroid is an effective way to change its course, should an Earth-threatening asteroid be discovered in the future. DART’s target is the binary near-Earth asteroid Didymos and its moonlet, which pose no threat to Earth. This mission is targeted to launch at 1:21 a.m. EST, Nov. 24 (06:21 UTC), aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. In tonight's top story: The COP26 climate summit is now underway in Glasgow, Scotland, with world leaders and delegates from roughly 200 countries hoping to hammer out more aggressive climate commitments over the next two weeks. Ahead of the climate summit, G20 world leaders wrapped up their gathering in Rome. It was hoped the world's top economies would head to Scotland with a solid climate action plan. But as Mike Le Couteur reports, the meeting ended with few concrete commitments.

Queen Elizabeth II released a video statement Monday as the COP26 climate summit gets underway in Glasgow, Scotland. She said that the "time for words has now moved to the time for action" and called on world leaders to leave the conference as a community with a plan to address climate change. The Queen also reminisced about her late husband, Prince Philip, saying addressing the impact of the environment on human progress was an issue close to his heart. She said in 1969 he told an academic gathering that if the world pollution situation wasn't critical at the time, it will become "increasingly intolerable" in a short time. She also said her son Prince Charles and his son Prince William have had the same drive to tackle climate change. She also said she has "drawn great comfort and inspiration" from the enthusiasm of people, including youth, for calling on people to "do their part" and urged those attending COP26 to "rise above the politics of the moment" and take action.

Seit Wochen ist Cumbre Vieja aktiv und noch immer hält er die Bewohner La Palma in Atem. Seit dem Beginn des Vulkanausbruchs im Süden von La Palma mussten schon mehr als 7.000 Menschen ihre Häuser unterhalb des Vulkans in Sicherheit bringen. Mehr als 1500 Häuser wurden bislang zerstört. Ernsthaft verletzt wurde bisher niemand. Teilweise lag die Asche so hoch, dass von Häusern nur noch die Schornsteinspitze herausragte. Ein Ende des Ausbruchs ist, nicht absehbar - und die Geschädigten fragen sich, wie es für sie weiter geht.

La lava ha dado cierta tregua a la población pero una de ellas, la colada tres, ha destruido este jueves algunos edificios que se habían salvado y los científicos esperan que se acabe sumando a la colada primigenia y se dirija hacia el mar. Mientras, preocupa la calidad del aire, sobre todo en los municipios más próximos a la erupción, por las elevadas emisiones de dióxido de azufre.
