I work in a public hospital which, at the moment, has been converted into a Covid Hub, where, that is, Covid-19 patients are mainly treated, but I am contracted by a private company as a corporate deputy contact in the radiology department for software services and customer healthcare services. Basically, I'm a management technician (not a doctor, nor a nurse). I therefore find myself working in a place where patients unknowingly affected by Covid-19 can sometimes circulate. Even if mitigated by stringent procedures and protective devices, there is the possibility to come into contact with these patients (or with their appurtenances) as in all places with public attendance and therefore to contract the virus, a risk shared by all colleagues (in a broad sense). So I thought about vaccinating myself, considering it a correct action for myself and also from a purely solidarity point of view. In recent weeks, here in Italy, the Ministry of Health has made available the vaccine produced by Pfizer. The first doses of the vaccine were used in favor of strictly hospital staff (doctors and nurses). But now they are starting to vaccinate the rest of the staff as well. So, I gave my adherence to the vaccination procedure. I only had some doubts regarding the fact of my numerous pre-existing allergies (some of which are quite serious), but the medical staff, in a professional manner, guaranteed me prompt intervention for the possible onset of an anaphylactic shock reaction, removing even the last ones doubts I had. And they also kept me under observation for some time after the procedure was carried out. The Pfizer vaccine does not generally cause major problems: from the explanatory documentation that was provided to us before vaccination, it is clear that the most frequent side effect is ONLY a burning sensation and muscle inflammation at the injection site, which can last a few days. And indeed, some colleagues who have undergone the vaccination (some more, some less), had this feeling. In my case, I can describe a faint painful sensation like when you scratch a post-burn blister. But nothing more. Some, insignificant in number, have some fever lines (usually 2-3 fever lines) on the first day after injection and possibly accompanied by a feeling of exhaustion / malaise. Only in rare cases did the fever reach high temperatures (as far as I know, in our hospital it happend only to a couple of nurses), and it did not last long anyway. In any case it is possible to use paracetamol without problems to lower the temperature. So there are no major problems.
