This week Parliament has been getting stuck into a wide range of activities for Asgardia including marking the 3rd Birthday of the Nation and bagging an invitation to the United Nations/Austria World Space Forum. ASGARDIA’S BIRTHDAY One of Asgardia’s most notable holidays happened on the 5th of Ophiuchus (Oct 12) - Asgardia’s Birthday. This is the day when the Nation was founded by Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli, our Head of Nation. Over the years, this day has become a very important one for members of Asgardia as they use it as a time to connect with other Asgardians in their local areas and celebrate their shared identity together. This was no different for members of Parliament - Some members of Parliament including Chairman Lembit Opik and Member of the Culture Committee, Cherly Gallagher - attended a local gathering at a local pub in London, UK that had been organised by Chief Editor of Space Citizen News and Asgardian Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Ivan Rosel. Mr. Rosel writes in his blog that “The party was cheerful with jokes and cheers and an epic series of photos were taken to mark that so special moment of witnessing Asgardia entering its fourth year of existence.” AMPS ARRIVE IN DARMSTADT FOR ASIC2019 Asgardia’s Space, Science and Investment Congress #ASIC2019 is due to go live today and several members of Parliament have already arrived to take part in this historic event. ASIC2019 has already attracted some of the biggest names in Science and it’s shaping up to be one of the major scientific events of the year. Chairman of the Science Committee, Dr. Luca Sorriso-Valvo has been working with eminent scientist and minister of Science, Prof. Floris Wuyts to organise the event. Asgardia’s attendance at events like this is an important step. Not only in raising the profile of our nation, but in making contributions to the international space community. The innovations for life in space will need to be a unified human effort and Parliament is certainly trying to embrace that in the spirit of Asgardia. The World Space Forum is due to be held in Vienna, Austria between the 18th and the 22nd of November - After their Participation in this event, both Mr. Opik and Ms Gallagher will be heading to the much-anticipated Physical sitting in Tallinn. A very busy schedule indeed.
