Magnitude 6.8 #earthquake shook eastern province of Elazig late Friday : The death toll from the powerful earthquake in Turkey has risen to 41, the country's disaster relief agency said Monday. The 6.8-magnitude quake shook the eastern Elazig province late on Friday. Tremors were also felt in neighboring countries including Syria and Georgia. The last body trapped under the debris was recovered, Mehmet Gulluoglu, head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (#AFAD), said in a tweet. Earlier on Monday, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca told reporters that 18 out of 86 injured were under intensive care at medical facilities. Out of 1,607 injured people, 1,516 have been discharged from the hospital, while 45 people who were trapped under the debris of houses and buildings have been rescued, according to AFAD. A total of 948 aftershocks were felt, it added. Despite the rise of online advertising, the Super Bowl is still advertising’s biggest day, with major brands throwing down as much as $5.6m for a 30-second spot. Fox Sports stated that it sold out of its inventory back in November. After an array of stark white, a rainbow of color and a yellow brick road a tad bit too on the nose, the final look in Virgil Abloh’s debut Spring/Summer 2019 Menswear collection was a shocking—but in hindsight, natural—departure. In a fully reflective metallic poncho, Playboi Carti strode out proud making a bold statement about both Abloh’s new position and exactly what goes down at the end of the metaphorical rainbow. On July 20, 1969, NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins successfully completed the Apollo 11 mission which culminated in Armstrong taking that fateful space walk on the moon’s surface, telling those listening, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Armstrong’s legendary accomplishment is chronicled in Damian Chazelle’s latest film, First Man (opening today), which the Hollywood Reporter has called a, “sober, contemplative picture [with] emotional involvement, visceral tension, and yes, even suspense, in addition to stunning technical craft.” Although the six American flags which have been left on the moon since Apollo 11 have been confirmed to have turned white due to alternating days of searing sunlight and 100° heat and days of numbing-cold -150°, there’s no mistaking the technicolor impact that the mission had on various facets of industries. Since the days of the space race, designers like like André Courrèges, Paco Rabanne, and Pierre Cardin, have attempted to sartorially predict what the future held for society – whether forecasting the daily uniforms for the masses — or more esoteric fare for those on the fringes as drastic changes occur in society. In 2017, for example, we're seeing the return of Paco Rabanne's signature metallic chain-metal dresses, which first walked the runways in the 1960s, and were "in" again in the early-aughts during Paris Hilton's heyday. Now, they can be found in Paris nightclubs on twentysomethings like Bella Hadid. To boot, white go-go boots are back as well—a trend that similarly took off in the '60s along with Space Age style, starting with André Courrèges and was later recycled during the Studio 54 era. It celebrates the 50th anniversary of humankind’s first step on the Moon on 20 July 1969. For the first time in our 200,000-year existence, we were not solely bound to Earth anymore. The theme is devoted to our nearest space neighbor to celebrate the incredible achievement of landing on the Moon and to spark consideration of the value of the Moon in humankind’s future space endeavors. By Resolution 54/68 of 6 December 1999, the General Assembly proclaimed World Space Week, to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition. The dates commemorate the launch, on 4 October 1957, of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik I, and the entry into force, on 10 October 1967, of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies. World Space Week is the largest annual space event in the world. It helps build up the workforce of tomorrow by inspiring students, demonstrates visible public support for the space programme, educates the public about space activities, and fosters international cooperation in space outreach and education.
