Actually, I'm kind of in agreement to the stance Phicksur holds. It's not as if you can tell what it is by the link itself, and randomly clicking things isn't wise - especially if you're one of the masses that tends to execute code as default. I personally wouldn't (and didn't) click it just because it's youtube and would rather prevent generating usable data for them by downloading it remotely. I'm loathed to waste b/w on my host connection in throwing that media back here without knowing what it is. The general trend on the interwebs is someone spits a link with an abstract comment - 10,000,000 people think it's brilliant, and it turns out it's just a dog in a hat and a complete waste of time, effort and bandwidth. Where as the links that are accompanied by some form of tangible details should indicate if you would be potentially interested in following it before sending GET requests.

Sustaining 200 people is by no means small*. We currently find it challenging to simply take care of the few people on ISS (maximum is SEVEN). Even if we took a minimalist approach to such a structure that is likely to be extremely unhealthy on the mental well-being of that many people in a cramped, extremely isolated environment. You have a great idea but the scale seems too large in the short term. In my humble opinion your idea is already at the level of a "large scale habitat". Perhaps scaling down to a number of smaller, mobile, and modular (can connect with others within series to make larger structures). We could staff them with 4 multidisciplinary crew members (emergency management planners, medics, and engineers). If I may add to your idea, that seems to meet your ideas: something smaller before any large-habitats, something that provides a service and contributes to society/our economy. I realize size here is subjective, my only point of reference I can rely on is current technological capability and practice now. I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future (~50 years from now) 200 humans in space at the same time on a single platform is considered small. Sincerely, Manny

I find merits in your argument, but I also find myself thinking to myself, "Go big, or go home." The vast majority of the technology used to survive in space is already well-tested and publicly available. It isn't cheap, but it is available. Who would our 'customers' be? It isn't like countries would send a spacecraft into orbit and then go, "Wow, orbit cost more fuel than I expected. I should stop by Asgardia Fuel Depot and grab some more fuel!" So, while the idea is a sound one, I don't really see it actually being feasible.

Very well said John, I've been perusing the boards and even catch myself thinking decades ahead. I think our endeavors need to be "grounded" as you've described so that when our descendants finally do "reach for the stars" they're stepping off from a strong foundation that was established by the first Asgardian works and research. We're here to ensure humanity can be at its best when that day comes.

There have been a large number of suggestions for feature enhancements on the forums. This link includes some of the enhancements being worked on. This list by no means is complete. Due to the sheer volume of suggestions, these are being prioritized and once developed announcements will be made upon their launch.

It's probably why it wouldn't be wise to weaponized it immediately. Other countries might correctly sees it as a direct threat above their heads... whatever if we say that we're aiming our weapons on asteroids and against "vilain ETs". Countries are use to deal with other countries at their geographical borders... but technically, Asgardia could be at "few rocket's pschitt" of everyone's geographical space borders. Therefore, we'll need very solid international diplomacy exchanges and international embassies on Asgardia. It's a complicated subject, and there's almost as many arguments for and against it (maybe only to install defensive counter mesures, and bringing bigger stuff from the UN when facing something bigger threats like an asteroid or the Marsians :P) . The most important thing is to not repeat the same mistakes that Earth's nations did... nor to spend 1/3 of our budget for turning Asgardia into a missiles space station.
