Union with SpaceX

Has this been considered? I must say I am rather new to this. However, in regards to becoming a self-sufficient space nation the goal should be to obtain a permanent residence in space.

I am not sure I see the benefit of a union with a for profit corporation with huge ties to the US government. I also doubt SpaceX would see any benefit. Asgardia cannot be a leach, it must make its own future.
