While many see this as folly or fancy ("flight of fancy" to be precise), I see it as the next step. To launch ourselves into space on more than just a 'visiting' term is something man has wanted since before it was aware of flight.

The idea that, someday, we can see family albums with children looking up at the stars and pointing out 'Earth' as a cool planet to visit someday, is something that I, for one, would welcome in my family tree.

My cousin stated that this is ridiculous... it would be like Christopher Columbus going from country to country and pointing to some 'unknown' land across an 'uncrossable' sea and stating "Imagine having a colony there and someday becoming a sovereign location of our own!"... would he have been laughed at, certainly... but look at us now! A sovereign country of our own.

While I may not make it to Asgardia in my lifetime, I can CERTAINLY see my children and my grandchildren thinking nothing of their AMAZING dual citizenship and basking in the knowledge that someday it will be the 'norm' and they had the vision 'to be first'!

Piggy backing off of anime, can cosplay also be a form of expression? I also caught glimpses of steampunk, futuristic, and sci-fi being mentioned and I just want to say it all sounds great! Also, more on cosplay, I am currently a business major, specifically, I'm majoring in Entreprenuership, and I think a Cosplay Café business will be great! I am still brainstorming the concept, but if I could use Asgardia as a concept and base the café off of it, all the while promoting Asgardian's ever growing culture, recruit more citizens, and use the Asgardian currency, the conversion to Solar, to help the Asgardian economy grow, I'd be very much ablidged to do so! I think I will further discuss cosplay cafés in a new discussion forum I will compose titled Cosplay Café, so if you're interested, please keep a lookout! And I believe I can complete the above mentioned task if my burden was lightened, I am running as a candidate, and I believe if I were to become a leader, scholarships and grants would motivate me to achieve my dream of the above aforementioned goals for Asgardia! So, I invite you all to please invite your friends, family, and followers and vote for me! As a leader, I will promise to do my absolute best to promote the best interests of every Asgardian to make a better Asgardia!!!

Imagine a family friendly place where you can cosplay and eat and meet and greet people like you, but on this channel you can only meet and greet people. Please give suggestions of what you would like in Cosplay Café, what would you like the employees to wear, what would you like to wear, what would you like to eat and drink as you meet and greet people? What would you like to read or play or have playing in the background, do you prefer manga or books or news, do you prefer music or quiet, do you prefer anime, cartoons, movies, shows, marathons, news, or sports? Do you prefer online, interactive, card games, board games or arcade games? What are your thoughts on dating simulations or live action role playing, what genre? Do you prefer photo booths or a more professional backdrop and props? Would you like the employees to sing or do tricks, how would you like to be greeted and said farewell to, how would you greet and say farewell, how would you like employees to respond, how would you want employees to treat you? Would you like karaoke, would you lIke to have tea parties, would you like to participate in trade shows where people auction something of value like costumes or accessories and have them model or demonstrate how it works, would you like to auction something in the trade show and model or demonstrate it? Would you like to be featured in the Café's bulletin or newspaper or magazine, would you want your picture to be featured on the wall, what would you like to see on or in the bulletin, newspaper, and or magazine, what about the wall? What theme should the Café have, should it be permanent, or change everyday, week, month, or year? Would you like to participate in workshops on the weekend where you can give and receive tips to write fanfiction, short stories, or make costumes, etc.? Would you like a dressing and makeup room to get ready, would you prefer it if the employees could help you get ready, do you mind unisex bathrooms, should there be professional beauty, hair, nail, makeup artists, and wardrobe employee's that help you? Would you like a place where you can go upstairs and or outside or somewhere private and or and reserved? What stores or shops would you like around the Café, would you like it to be big or small, spacey or crowded, in a house or shop, in shopping centers or malls, would you like cosplay conventions to be held there? Should there be friendly competitions where you can win something, what should customers win? Should there be discounts, how should things be priced, would you like to pay it forward by paying for someone else's meal or drink by paying extra and put the amount on a sticky note on the wall? And last but not least would you like to work and or live there?

For these are additional reasons why I found myself wanting to represent and move towards Ministry of Science.

I would love to be considered to be a representative to Asgardia!  First, to be able to jump on board of such an amazing opportunity to begin with is unreal!  I've been dabbling here and there in local politics.  I feel I can represent fairly and blindly.  I'm always around ready to listen to anyone.  I would like to get pushed further along the line and get mixed in to policies with the Ministry of Science.  I'm currently studying Environmental Science w/ concentration in Natural Resources and Conservation along with a minor in Organizational Leadership.  Plus, it will force me outside my comfort zone, and I need to be outside my comfort zone.

I'll rant a little after the main point: I would like to print and distribute some brochures for Asgardia or (space colonization on it's own). I will pay to print them and hand out as many as I can, but I am no graphic artist. Can someone work with me to design one?  I have one idea; a three fold, one piece of paper pamphlet and the front says something like, "If you were to time travel two hundred years into the future and spend the afternoon with a descendant, describe the world you see around you." Then on the inside an explanation of how imagining the future is more than prophesy, It explains the direction you think humanity is heading in", blah blah, Asgardia, future, ect.. I actually already have a start to this (better worded than thank goodness). That's just one idea.

Okay, now a little rant. This website is either "barely active" or my posts are even lamer than I think. I recently saw someone post "no one's gonna read this". I was shocked to realize how right he was. I think one person has liked a post of mine and I've gotten one reply.

I really believe that if we don't gather face to face in some way, this whole project is on the fast track to "waiting for a miracle". If you're in the Hampton roads area, tell me who you are and let's figure something out. I have one person willing to meet. Distributing these brochures is a great excuse to meet up and do some fun work for the cause.

The future of Asgardia relies principally on three pillars. One is the sociological part of nation building and includes things like law and politics. The second is research and the third is education.  All three of these pillars are imperative to Asgardia’s survival, but that survival rests on one particular area of research more than anything else; cheap, safe access to space. If Asgardia becomes relegated to a piece of Earth somewhere mired in economy and politics or a trip to the space colony costs a million dollars and has a 40% chance of failure the dream will have failed. My platform is three-fold to reflect these pillars.

We need new technologies and clever applications of existing ones to fulfill this dream.  Research is where our hope lies right now. The new space race among the nations of Earth has not been well defined, except by money of course, but one technological breakthrough will decide the winner. Whoever gets the cost of a trip to orbit down to a hundred dollars per ticket with a safety rating above 90% will win the space race hands down.  What happens if another country besides Asgardia gets this technology first? It starts with an m and ends with -ilitary. I believe incredibly strongly that everyone should get to go, and that we should not bring our old nationalism and sectarianism with us.

In the sociological realm, we must clarify the representation and election process and promote in-person meetings and community gatherings.  The web site and forums need a lot of work, but the end outcome should be people gathering to facilitate a government that we all feel a part of. If Asgardia remains only online, we run the risk of not looking serious and being solely a social media platform.

Lastly, we must accept that it may be generations before the colony is established and self-sustaining. We not only need great researchers now, but we must look ahead to training the great researchers of the next generation. An education program that acts as if it already is a space colony and trains the Asgardian leaders of the future can be ours now on Earth, if we will reach out and grasp it. I propose that the first community centers for Asgardia should be education and research centers to combine the bright new ideas that come from learning with the research that is so vital to our success. We should promote our ethos of fairness and secular internationalism not only in what we teach, but in who we teach to. Asgardia is for everyone who wants a positive future for all of humanity regardless of all Earthly stereotypes, borders and foolish class systems.

That’s why I believe in Asgardia and it’s mission. It’s constitution, while not perfect, is a gleaming beacon to a humanist future that upholds all the freedoms and progressive ideals that represent the very finest of human culture. I have little political experience, but I am a PhD in physics who has been an advocate for space colonization since seeing Gerard O’Neil on tv in 1977. I have been looking for and researching the breakthrough technologies that will finally free us from rockets for fifteen years now, and I am ready to lead us towards them in the name of humanity, in the name of Earth, in the name of Asgardia.

Asgardia is an immense opportunity to take the lessons of history and modern day, and combine them into a new nation with a new mission: to bridge the humanity of now with the spacefaring humanity of the future, and beyond. As a leader, it will by my responsibility to facilitate this process, for all citizens, equally and equitably. I am particularly concerned with designing Asgardian government to resist corruption, and to prevent bureaucracy from becoming burdensome over indefinite time. As a biologist, I also seek to work with my fellow citizens to find supplements and methods to help the human body adapt to long term life in space; like resveratrol which helps resist muscle atrophy in zero g, or chlorella which assists survival of otherwise lethal levels of radiation and other stressors. There is much work to be done, but ever we are guided by the ultimate goal of building a bright future for us all, in Asgardia and for the human race as a whole.
