I would just like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE for your support and donations.  Do to your efforts, I am, as of April 1st, 2018 by decree, a Member of Parliament for District #1, English!  I am still a little shocked to tell the truth.

Next step?  To find out how Parliament meets, get some procedures down and then start tackling business!  I am off to investigate!

Ivan informs me that there are now buttons available to donate for candidate's entry  fees.  So check to see if your candidate has been able to get their fee in.  Myself, from what I can't really tell if my fee is in or not.  I donated 10 dollars before, but do not see it so I can not tell.   With 2 days to go...I do not know where that leaves me.

I see that my message board is blowing up. I might have missed some friend requests.  If I did accept,  try with drawing it and then requesting again.

I am very grateful for all the support,  kind words and votes that I have received.  I wanted to make a difference and to keep Asgardia as close to our core concept as possible. I wanted to be different from other candidates and only offer what I thought was achieveable, not something that wasn't.

At this point, I am unemployed and do not have the fee. I have heard nothing about fundraising, so it looks as if I can't be elected regardless of votes. Unless something changes,  I want to apologize to you all. The fee blindsided me. I was unemployed by the time I knew about it.

To those running,  I encourage wisdom, prudence, integrity and honesty in your dealings. You work for the citizens of Asgardia and no one else... not even yourself.  Remember that.

I am still trying to find the funds....but in case I can't  ... I wanted you to know.

It is with deep regret, that I withdraw from the Parliamentary elections.  I refuse to pay a "fee", "donation" or to fun raise. I see corruption in the future. Right now...I am even considering giving up my citienship and leaving the volunteers. I have lost faith in Asgardia.

If you voted for me, I thank you. I told you that I wouldn't be bought and I meant it. I will not fun raise and be beholden to anyone for putting me in office. Anyone who become a member of Parliament will have bought their seat or had someone else pay for it.  So chose wisely...

For me...this has become a farce. I am told that I am over reacting.  That other nations do this. But the point of all this, is that we didn't want to be like other countries. ..we wanted to be different.

Further, it appears that the first Parliament will be nothing but a tool. It might be disbanded within 6 months.what does that make it?  Just a tool to rubber stamp policies?   I will not be a part of that either.

I will hold off 24 hours. ..then I will pull my canidacy. ...

Yesterday was very sad for me. I lose my job, 5 days before I was due to be hired. I was shocked when I got the call saying that I wasn't to report to work. I am very angry about it, it was unfair, but their is nothing I can do about it. So, it is back to job hunting for me. :-(

In between filling out applications and interviews,  I will be more active around Asgardia.  Doing volunteer work and campaigning for Parliament.  I just posted on my FB canidate page, so go check that out.

Currently,  I'm interested in reserving the governments of many of the Sandinavian countries,  such as Norway, etc.  Their system of governng seems to work very well and their citizens seem happy and pleased. Plus, they stay off the world stage for the most part. Perhaps some of what they do for their citizens might work well will the Goals and Concept of Asgardia. I would love to hear from Asgardians from those countries!

I will be checking in more often and be more visible again. So be watching! I foresee a rough start once Parliament is elected. Getting times and procedures set up so that Parliament can proceed smoothly might take months, especially with the level of bickering I've been reading lately! Discussing issue s in a civilized,  adult manner?  Well I can only hope that when disagreeing that we do not devolve into shouting matches and not get anything done. I know that I can discuss things in a calm and professional matter, I hope everyone else can too. I assume,  that we will be in charge of setting our salaries? MPs are supposed to be paid. I haven't heard much more about that. As a citizen,  I don't like the idea of Parliament choosing it's own salary. That could lead to corruption and graff. Anything the first Parliament does, can set a prededent and that could be dangerous in the future  (yes..I belive in a future and future parliaments! So we really have to think things through as best as we can for the future. )  I think I would rather see a non partisan oversight committee of some sort to set fair wages for governent employees.  After all, it is the citizens money that we are stewards of. I'd  love to give myself  $60,000 USD for each of 5 years! Lol I am not sure how the rest of Asgardia would feel about that, though!  Lol  if I could get at least 20 dollars an hour, for 8 hour of work per weekday, then I could work solely for Asgardia and not have to worry about finding a job for 5 years! Just so you know, a good administrative assistant in the USA gets about 20 dollars an hour, an experienced one gets 25 to 30 dollars in the bigger companies!  This is an MP of Parliament! I'm sure you want us spending more than a couple hours chatting! Not to mention,  if we have to hire staff...like a researcher and a secretary to help research and write up drafts, handle emails from Citizens with their concerns, etc.  If I have to pay others out of my pocket, then I would need to be paid more.

At the moment I'm debating on the first order of business, when Parliament logs in for the first time. I think the HON should swear Parliament in and declare the first session to be officially started. Then Parliament should set Officers. The Speaker or Chairperson who presides over the sessions; a Clerk of Record who calls the votes,reads the minutes, records MPs who are present and the votes and whether the bill is passed (which then would go to HON for signing). So governments, such as Congress and Parliament, also have a Master at Arms...but being virtual I am not sure if something like that.

Scheduling and Committees should be discussed. When does parliament meet in session? When do committee and hearings take place. This might be the job of the Clerk of Record to make sure all the MPs know when Parliament is in session, when committees are in session or holding hearings or if there is an emergency session called, etc.

Once the big group is settled, some committees need formed. Like a Committee on the Judiciary. ..to hold hearings and vette Canidates for that Ministry. A committee on Commerce and the Economy.  A Budget committee, etc. These committees hammer out details and then bring their proposed bills to the full Parliament for voting. Dividing up the various things we need to seal with might help with the headaches of trying to do everything all at once or in a hit and miss fashion. A budget needs to be established immediately,  so committees know what they have to work with, and yes, how the government will be paid.

Next, would be getting the Ministries going. The Committees holding hearings on canidates for that position. (Budgets for the Ministries will need to be considered too! They will need staffs and supplies.)

Next is tackling issues, like the Solar, IDs, and the Economy. (Businesses will be taxed, we will need money to run the Nation! No income /Personal tax...though donations are greatly appreciated!  We also need to establish Embassies and Consulates. Finally,  provided we can run relatively smoothly as a Nation, we can work on getting UN recognition. Recognition would open doors to deal with other sovereign nations and boost our credibly.

So, even though you haven't seen much of me...I have been thinking about how Parliament might work. So far, my deductions on how to set things up, seem sound. I am sure it will be mass confusion when it starts , but at least I have a plan! I am not sure if anyone else has really considered HOW we are going to do this! Lol

Well...that is enough for now! Tell your friends to get out and vote!! I don't care for whom, just vote!! Asgardia needs you to step up!

Happy New Year Everyone!

2017, was a rough year for me. Lost a job. Got a new job and have been trying to cope with training and a new schedule.  Then the holidays hit with the assorted chaos that they bring.  Right up to New Year's Eve.  I awoke early and found a text from the lady I love telling me that she is very sick.  I spent the last day of 2017 crying and getting drunk.  This morning, she tells me it isn't as serious as I think.  She has always been a crappy lair....

Today, 2018 begins.  I have had my cry. The Holidays are over and I am back.  I declare 2018 to be a "YEAR OF HOPE".  Hope for me. Hope for the Lady I love.  Hope for Peace. Hope that life will be better for everyone. Hope for Asgardia's future. Hope for Elections. Hope for a wise and just Parliament. Hope for Wisdom. Hope for Vision. Hope for Unity.  Yes, let Year .0002, 2018 be offically a Year of Hope.

Sorry that I have been away for a while. Between  starting a new job and the holidays,  things have been hectic.  Once New Year's is done, things should settle down. I am still around  and reading posts, I just haven't had a lot of time to be able to reply.

I just want to take some time to thank each and every one of you for your support!

As you know, I have been busy lately settling into a new job and all the challenges that involves.  Yet while I have been away, I have been checking on Asgardia even if I have not been writing much.  I am overwhelmed by the positive responses I have been receiving!

My votes for Parliament have shot up, which is very encouraging.  I have had several new friend requests here, including several from new Asgardians!  A big hello and welcome to Asgardia, to all of you! :-)

I am still trying to answer posts.  My life should be settling within the next week or so, then I plan to be back answering questions and sharing my views for the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage EVERYONE to vote! Vote for the candidate of your choice, but please vote !  So far voter turn out has not been spectacular, so we need everyone to be involved!

Sorry I haven't been visible much lately. I have just started a new job in a factory.  After a week of training on a tough line, my hands have taken a lot of abuse.  My fingers are currently swollen and sore, so I am reduced to one finger typing at the moment.

I have about another week of torture ... I mean training and then hopefully I will get the shift I want and get off this line.  I have worked at this company before and rarely ever worked on the line I am being trained on.  I know the people on 3rd shift, they know what I can do and they wouldn't be silly enough to put me on this line ever!

Still ... I am on probation/training for 60 days so I don't have much say about things. I just have to kep trying and ignore the painful fingers.

I am still reading as much as possible and one fightr typing when I can. You know my hand is hurting when I am having trouble picking up my mug of tea and tying my shoes! Lol

My name is Dan Feegz and I am an Asgardian citizen. I am an artist, student of science, a born leader and maybe slightly arrogant. Don't be fooled. I am a compassionate human being and I am excited to be a member of such a movement. Space is something that has always peaked my interest. The fact that we are making a nation outside of earth for the purpose of human progression into space was a godsend for me. I am running to be a member of parliament. I am going to weigh in here with something that is not going to make me popular, but that I think needs to be said.

The Constitutional Age limit for Parliament.

Many believe it to be unfair and want it changed right now.  While I agree that 40 or over might be a bit much, it is not a matter of AGE that is the issue.

The topic that is being ignored is: THE RULE OF LAW.

When you become a citizen of Asgardia and vote for the Constitution, you become bound to it.  It is the Law of the Land as it were.  The Constitution is the governing Law.  Should the First Parliament be seated they will be sworn in and expected to defend the Constitution of Asgardia.

Is the Constitution prefect? No. There are many things that I do not agree with, but, none the less, it is the Law.

Once Parliament is elected, they can hold a Referendum (What we call a Constitutional Convention in the States) and change the Constitution.  This is good and bad.  If the Citizen vote for a Referendum, then they open the Constitution up for changes, which the citizens may or may not agree to.  A Constitutional Convention is nothing to be taken lightly!  In my own state, the State wanted to change the State Constitution and called for the Convention, the voters turned that down rather soundly.

It would be possible I believe to have the Head of Nation create a decree waving the restriction for just this election.  That, however would set a dangerous precedent.  If we wave it for this election, then when the next one came, you would want it waved again, all the time disregarding the Constitution which is the Law by which the government runs.

Also, if you have the Head of the Nation wave this item of the Constitution, what is to stop the Head of Nation from waving any part of the Constitution?

Further, we are trying for United Nations recognition. One of our points is that we have a government and a Rule of Law, i.e., the Constitution voted on by our citizens.  If we disregard our own Constitution, then that will put us in a weak position in our attempts at recognition.

While the age restriction is very sad, things need to be done correctly.  If you are a citizen and running for election, then you agreed to the Constitution.  If you just seek to change it ad hoch, then you are disregarding the Rule of Law, what kind of representative would you be?

Therefore, let us do this the RIGHT way. Vote in the Parliament, create a Petition to Parliament for a Referendum on the Constitution, being very specific that it is for changing the age  limit for Parliament (You don't want to open it so we can just change anything we feel like!), Parliament should then hold a special vote so the citizens who voted for the first time, may decide if they would agree to allowing the Parliament to change the stated purpose, such as the age limit of Parliament.  This does not mean it would automatically become 18 and over. Parliament would decide.  That is where your potential dangers come in, if you legally allow them to change the Constitution, then they can as they see fit within the confines of their mandate.  Once voted on by Parliament and approved by the Head of Nation, it becomes and addendum  to the Constitution and thus, Law.

This is how government works.  By voting for the Constitution, we all agreed to that.

One final note, I joined Asgardia in the hopes of a better future. Not only for myself, but for Humanity. Asgardia, gave me hope.  If we can cavalierly disregard the Law whenever it pleases us to do so, then Asgardia has already failed.  It would not be the place I was hoping for where I could feel protected and safe, where good people protected my rights and I protected theirs.  If they just decide to throw away the Constitution and wave the age limit, I will withdraw from the Parliamentary Elections and most likely leave Asgardia all together.  I will not be a part of a farce, nor will I put in all my hard effort for something that could be changed tomorrow on a whim of the populace.  In ancient Rome, they called it "bread and Circus."   Meaning to appease the populous.  That, is not a good way to govern.

As you may have noticed, Talamon has vanished and my legal name is now on my profile.  Talamon was my Pen Name/Gamer for several years.  when I first came to Asgardia I did not know what to put in for a username, so I went with an old standby.

However, since I am running for Parliament, I had to put up my real name.  So, what is in a name?  It sounds pompous to say that my name is Carol Lynn Lockhart.  Carol Lynn is my REAL first name. I have no middle name, I grew up in a wealthy family and at the time, pompous was in.  I actully got off lucky.  lol  you should hear my brother's name!  lol

Kudos to the wonderful people in Support!

After chatting back and forth via email, we found out that the reason my Candidate profile would not post, was because all the attached documents had to be PDF. That was the hang up!  My resume was a Word document!

But now, it is submitted for all you fine Asgardians to read!

I am running for Parliament, District #1 - English.  Read my profile and my blogs.  I have been working very hard for Asgardia behind the scenes and have a very good idea of what is going on.  I also work on getting things fixed, as demonstrated by getting my profileup and running!  (Sorry, Ivan.   They are still working on the Icon issue!  Several people, besides me, have been after Support about that!)

Have you ever had... "One of those days."?

Such is my morning today.  I got very little sleep, about 4 hours worth.  It is a dark, rainy morning. Kind of gloomy.  I got up, changed all my clocks for Daylight Savings Time.  Took a nice hot shower and made myself some Jasmine Green tea (My favorite is loose leaf Jasmine Green by Rishi!  It is the best!!).  I took a sip of tea and though that civilization had finally arrived!

So, what do you do on a rainy Sunday morning?  You check to see what is going on in Asgardia!  this is where the faceplam comes in.  I open up the website and see that changes have been made and an election popup in in play!  Yeah!  Open it and look though it...  My parliamentary candidacy is missing!   *sigh - faceplam*

This is not a good thing!  Especially since I haven't finished my tea yet!

Yep. That meant rewriting my application to run for Parliament, District # 1 - English.  I am trying to look at it as an exercise in cultivating patience. It is now done and submitted.  Whether you vote for me or not, if you would kindly check to see if my is listed with the other candidates for District #1 - English, I would appreciate it!

I see that the messaging and notification icons are still missing in action.  Vexing, as it is difficult finding out what is going on around here. lol

I think today might just turn out to be a whole pot of tea sort of day!

I am sure that you read the tragic incident in New York City yesterday. A man take a truck and runs down bicyclists on a bike path, killing eight people and injuring others. Why?  According to the letter he left in his truck, it was because his extremists beliefs.  What he really did, was commit murder and he is a criminal.  Do not magnify his ugly crime.  We throw "terrorist" around too freely for the sake of a headline.

This crime, was not about religion.  It was about following an extremist group that advocates violence. So we call it terrorism. The man that shot people in Las Vegas did not do it out of ideology, so he is a murder, because we don't know his reasons for that attack. Governments are saber rattling and threating war, this is detaunt. (Who in their right minds think that launching a Nuke is a "good idea"?????!!!!!)  It all of it is pure madness!

All the Hate and Violence, has to stop!!  I would rather see Asgardia grounded, than to see Mankind take Hatred and Violence into Space with us!  I have seen it on the FaceBook pages.  It was stopped the second it was posted.  But, it is a daily fight!  It is time for Mankind to grow up and stop acting like spoiled children!

Asgardia is a state of being. It is, what WE chose to make it!

We believe in Hope . Hope for a better Future. Hope for Humanity. Hope for Peace. Hope for Unity.

We believe in Compassion . Helping others who are in need. Not everyone is a scientist or an engineer. But we all want to help.  We can do clerical work. We can plant and water plants for food and trees. We can help build!  If two strong men can lift a beam into place, I can use  the power toque wrench and put a bolt on!  Together, we can get things done.  You can be passionate about something, just remember to be compassionate at the same time! :-)

We believe in Love and Acceptance .  Everyone is welcome here.  We don't see the labels or boundaries!

We believe in Peace .  No more wars.  No more violence.  We want to defend Earth from Space borne threats, not fight with Earth.  We believe in not fighting with each other.  Again, be passionate and yet compassionate at the same time!  We all have different points of view, different goals and different priorities. This is were compromise comes into play.

It is not about religion.  It is not about race. It is not about culture clashes. It is not about orientation. These are the tools of extremists and bullies to control people with.  They want you to live in fear.  They want to control you and get you to do what they say.  They want you to follow them, believe in them.  They want zealots. Cannon fodder to be used and thrown away.  Whether it the fascist alt-right or ISIS, they are all the same.  You don't see their leaders strapping on bombs or driving vehicles through crowds. no, they send FOLLOWERS to do that, because followers are expendible. If they are so sincere and passionate about their beliefs - then why aren't they out there championing their cause?  Because they are bullies.  When the dust clears, they want to rule.  They want the power that the extremists and zealots give to them. Those that FOLLOW, give these people power and control. Stop being a sheep!  Stop following these radicals!

Instead, follow peace.  Follow compassion.  Follow Hope.  Follow unity. Follow love!

YOU, chose who you are every day when you wake up. YOU chose whether to Love, or to Hate.  YOU chose between RIGHT and Wrong and sometimes you have to trod in the gray areas.  But you still, chose!  That man decided to get into a truck and kill people.  It doesn't matter WHY he did it.  He killed people.  That is wrong, it is a crime.  Don't call him a terrorist, or religious extremist. Call him what he is; a murder, plain and simple. Call him, a criminal, he is one.   Do not glorify the deed or incite panic giving him his "15 minutes" of fame!

Do not be a follower, the good and kind person that you are. Even if you have to do it alone.

Instead, be a leader. Lead by example. Do not give you power to just anyone (including Asgardia), but carefully consider who it is you are following.  Do they adhere to peace, love compassion, mercy, unity?  Or do they speak about hate from their platforms (wherever or who ever they maybe), do they encourage you to be against someone or something?
