Although I could've simply chosen to put my real name as my username, I still wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to have an alias. אבינדב (Hebrew is read right to left), or in english, Avinadav, is a Hebrew name I picked out while I was inspiring myself to go to Israel to see a good friend of mine. I picked it because it was one translation for Patrick which means "Noble" as Avinadav supposedly means "My father is noble." I feel like it is very relevant considering the father of our nation, Igor Ashurbeyli, is literally a nobleman. I am not only referring to the constitutional monarchy, but to his earthly heritage as an Azerbaijani noble. Considering most interactions will be within this platform I wanted to honor the tradition of the online alias.

In my candidacy I wish to represent a broad concept of this nation. To be successfully democratic the people must be diversely educated, honestly informed, and free to express themselves peacefully without judgment or fear of reprisal. To be a society we must work together and understand not only what our leaders want for the nation, but what the citizens want and need as well. This will always be a complex struggle as not everyone's desires can be completely fulfilled. This is the result of compromise and cooperation and it makes for a stronger nation.

Although I wish for everyone's voice to be heard, I must be fair and state what my thoughts are on the subjects that have been discussed thus far. At first I will train a single security detail, and from there I will move forward to a more administrative approach.

The First Stage is Training:

Training is key to a strong security force. This is not a military force, however it will be a force that upholds the laws of our nation.

I will have a military touch on some of the aspects of the training. I received my specific training from The United States Marine Corp. This slight touch of military training is to ensure that everyone within the security team is fit, has honor, and the courage to uphold the law. I myself,  at first will be training along side the first security team.

Training Phases will be as follows:

Phase 1:

The Break Down- This is were you will be tested. The test will consist of an Agility Test. An Endurance Test, and a 3 mile run.

Phase 2:

Strength Training- Thinking about going to the gym everyday? This will be your favorite phase.

Phase 3:

Martial Arts- Which branch of Martial Arts is to be determined.

Phase 4: Leadership Training- This is where you will get your backbone. You will learn Justice, Judgment, Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Endurance, Bearing,

Unselfishness, Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty, and Enthusiasm.

Phase 5:

Law and Order: This is where you will be trained to understand, and to be able to uphold the laws of our Great Nation.

Phase 6: Graduation- Here you will be able to either move on to become part of a security detail, or will help me in training future secruity personal.

After I have found a few candidates that can run the training phases on my behalf. I will move onto my true position. This position would entail security briefings with the governmental bodies of Asgardia. Well, here I am: A dreamer, a humble man, a commoner amidst a sea of others exactly like me. Not in the sense of character but those also jammed in the cogs of adult responsibilities. Wake up, prepare with the same routine, drone through mindless squabble that life has procured for us, return to the home in which we work so hard to possess. Rinse, repeat. Eat, breathe. Consume, be consumed. Appreciate, be disrespected. Force positivity, hope for more.

I believe we are all led to this dream for our own agendas however the goal is the same: be released from these earthly bounds and have our lives mean something. To be the forerunner for the future of man. That calling, yearning, for our presence to equate to substantial meaning. A deeper understanding of our universe and purpose within it.

This shall be my prologue. Our prologue. To keep our dreams alive. To never stop dreaming. To be inspired, in miniscule ways, that may lead to a larger sum. That is our hope. My hope.

As Asgardia moves forward, we will need people who are willing to speak out. The formation process of any nation is a critical one. Currently Asgardia does not have a fully functioning governing body. Because of this we have no buffer against the good will of the creators and initial members being co-opted. We could easily become a dictatorship or simply oppressive.

I admit that I don't know Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli personally and I don't know much about him. No matter how good a person he may or may not be, he needs to be held accountable. I want to make sure Asgardia becomes the nation promised to us. We need people who will speak out if things go wrong in these vital early stages. I hope You can agree with me on that.

SUMMARY

The Certified Asgardians ("Asgardians") having concerns and grievances with the operation of the interim government of Asgardia ("Asgardia") hereby submit for consideration by the Head of Nation of Asgardia, Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli ("Head of Nation"), this petition of grievances and demands to ensure the stability of Asgardia, the functioning of Asgardia, and the sucess of the establishment of Asgardia as a formal nation and member of the international community.

GRIEVANCES

Asgardians recognize the official forum of Asgardia ("Forum") as fundamentally special. The Forum is the only location where Asgardians may associate and regard the right to freely associate on it as paramount to our ability to exercise our rights to speech, to assembly, and to petition our government in accordance with international law. The Forum's moderation and administrative staff under the direction of the Lead Community Administrator ("Forum Team"), have designated the Forum as like any privately-owned forum, with the right to speech revokable at any time without due process, public record, or public accountability and have dismissed and discouraged discussion on the topic.

Asgardians recognize the Head of Nation's requests for feedback from Asgardians regarding his Decrees and proposed documents and have acted in good faith to provide this feedback to the Head of Nation.  The Forum Team has unduly restricted Asgardians ability to discuss the Head of Nation's Decrees and proposals and there is growing concern among Asgardians the Forum Team has not faithfully executed their duties to relay feedback to the Head of Nation.

Asgardians recognize the need for transparency and public accountability in Asgardia, both in its interim government and future formal government, in order for Asgardia to function in accordance with the Decrees of the Head of Nation.  Requests for clarification, deadlines and timelines of Asgardia's public activities, publication of policies, publication of existing offices of Asgardia, publication of existing public office holders of Asgardia, and means to relay formal complaints, petitions, and other ordinary business between Asgardians and our government have been unanswered by the Forum Team.

Asgardians are concerned that Asgardia has become dysfunctional due to unwillingness or inability of the Forum Team to faithfully execute their duties and that furthermore the Forum Team may have intentionally withheld information from the Head of Nation and exceeded the authority granted to them by the Head of Nation.

FURTHERMORE, Asgardians are concerned that the Head of Nation has not received the requested feedback regarding his Decrees including concerns that provisions and proposals of Decrees N3, N4, and N5 may conflict with international law and jeopardize the Head of Nation's ability to negotiate Asgardia's recognition by the United Nations.  Asgardians recognize that we are essential for Asgardia to be recognized as a legitimate and sovereign nation by the international community and that our approval of the Constitution, the Declaration of Unity, and of Asgardia are the means by which Asgardia can be in turn recognized by the international community as the first space nation.

THEREFORE, the undersigned Asgardians declare that we no longer have confidence in Asgardia to operate as our government.

DEMANDS

We, the undersigned Asgardians, demand from our Head of Nation:

A statement acknowledging and addressing our concerns.

Direction, dismissal, and appointment, as necessary, to and of Asgardia's officials and the Forum Team in order to ensure Asgardia's ability to function as a government.

The publication of all existing offices of Asgardia, the names of all public officials of Asgardia, and the means by which Asgardians may conduct ordinary business with Asgardia and its ministries.

Recognition of the Forum as a location where Asgardians may freely associate and speak with each other and to establish transparent, publicly accountable due processes by which individual Asgardians may have this right revoked for specified periods of time in accordance with international law.

Recognition of Asgardians as essential for Asgardia to be recognized as a real and functioning nation by the international community.

Further consideration of Decrees N3, N4, and N5 and publication of any necessary revisions to make the Constitution, Declaration of Unity, and the processes by which these and other founding legal documents are ratified and enacted into law in full compliance with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations in order to ensure that Asgardia is able to succeed in gaining recognition from the international community.

I am also formally requesting that Asgardia send an e-mail to all certified Asgardians notifying them of the petition and ask that you put your duties to Asgardia before any personal considerations.

Second, my apology to all Asgardians for taking the liberty of writing this petition myself without further input.  While this is fairly normal for petitions to governments, I would have preferred to draft it as a group, but given the short, short time we have before elections and the time necessary to collect signatures, I felt it was necessary to get this out quickly.  I only waited 'til Monday to see if Dr. A or the other officials would take any action to address concerns (and also I was busy Sunday).  If there is a clear consensus that this petition as written is unsatisfactory and needs substantial revisions, I have no objections to discussions\revisions\new drafts by other Asgardians to that effect.

Some thoughts\explanations:

I have procedural concerns about the way I've proposed to submit this petition, but there is no established procedure.  I used a petition process that is standard in my home country and I hope the procedure and goal is sufficiently clear to all Asgardians.

I tried to cover many of the points raised by individual Asgardians and was mindful of specific incidents, but I was intentionally vague as to the details.  I didn't see this as writing a criminal complaint or anything, just notification to our Head of Nation that there are growing, serious concerns on several overarching issues.

I believe "no confidence" is the most appropriate term to describe the current situation between Asgardians and Asgardia and the one most likely to be understood by everyone, including Dr. A.  Typically no confidence votes cause a government/administration to be dismissed and replaced, but I have no illusions here that that is necessarily how the petition will be interpreted by Dr. A.

I considered a way for Asgardians to sign without putting their legal names on a forum viewable by everyone with internet access, but ultimately I decided that this is a public petition and so we have to keep everything public record in the end.  Everyone's names would have to be published at the time of submission anyway, so I hope everyone will have the courage to participate in this democratic process.

ALSO, I humbly ask any Asgardians who are bilingual to please kindly translate the petition into non-English languages, repost it in the appropriate language forums, and direct people to sign in the main petition thread.  The majority of Asgardians do not speak English natively and could easily miss it if they don't check the main part of the forum regularly, so every translation directly contributes to all Asgardians' ability to participate in our government.

Per this post by Asgardian official Rebekkah Berg, there is no process by which Asgardians may petition our Head of Nation, Dr. Ashurbeyli directly for redress.

The current process is that Lena De Winne decides by her own personal judgement whether an Asgardia may petition the Head of Nation.  There is no review process.  There is no appeal process.  There is no policy for issuing responses or explanations for why a petition is hidden from Dr. Ashurbeyli rather than being disclosed.
