I'm well versed in Space operations and have a huge passion for our space capabilities and what the future may hold. Growing up I used to gaze at the stars and wonder if I would ever have something to do with space exploration and such. I made part of that dream a reality and had the honor of serving in US Air Force Space Command, working in space operations, which were some of the best times of my life!

In my opinion, being computer literate means that one is evolving to be a citizen of the future. The computer is simply a tool that can be used for good or evil, just like using a hammer.  This explaination is a primary reason that you find computers and their connections everywhere. That is why I propose every Asgardian be computer literate. We all need this to survive in the future; in many ways, we would not have space/lunar/Mars travel without the use of computers. To keep a space platform/habitat  in orbit will require a computer to use attitude thrusters to stay in place.

Asgardians need to be comfortable when using these new tools!

How about all people's software/hardware be able to use a  form ( flavor ) of LINUX as well as Windoze environments? Open Source is  far easier to work with with no secret APIs that Gates/Windows use. I  know that Windoze is  using a " pay to play " version of their  software in Windows 10 when used in a business. Even Windows 10 has the  roots of the new monthly fee based Operating system for users. My next   O/S will be LINUX based, with a Hypervisor connection to run my older  Windows based software that I use ( and paid many $$$ for the license  fees ) . The nice thing about the LINUX versions is that MUCH older  hardware can use it. You DO NOT need to upgrade your equipment like you  do every time you buy a new version of Windoze, which many manufacturers  count on to make more profits with.

I first bought a  copy of UNIX, when I built my first Server back in the early 1980s. Both  Novell and then Gates had proprietary languages to " talk " to other  computers. Only higher level colleges, nuclear weapon's labs, CERN  and  us ( Cray Research ) had connections on DARPAnet using TCP/IP. It is  time to create our own, special communications  language and possibly  hardware to truly keep Asgardia communications secure. If you remember,  STUXNET was the virus that smashed all of the centrifuges that are use  to create atomic devices. The same type of virus could bring Asgardia  out of orbit into a fiery destruction. I think that many vehicle suicides may have been caused by someone manipulating their Internet controlled vehicles. Control by others has been proven in both jets and automobiles.

I'm reading " Oath of Fealty " by Mr. Niven. He describes a " city inside a building " arcology. Arcosanti arcosanti.org is a working model of such an arcology. Since Asgardia will be located off-planet, it must be able to provide all the needs of our citizens.

We may want to see what extra we may need to provide the habitat that is to be off-planet. We must rely on fusion power, whither we let the Sun ( yes, it provides us with energy by fusion ) or design our own powerplant. Fusion power could supply enough electrical energy to use EM-Drives as the means to keep Asgardia safe while in orbit ( yes, I studied the math and design of the EM-Drive and it DOES work ) and since we already have the " solar wind " to deal with, escaping radiation is the least of our worries off-planet.

The human and electronic needs could be met in several ways. Yes, solar panels can help but cannot provide enough power at the present day efficiency at 20-22% energy efficiency per sol ( a pure sun mesurement, with no interference of any kind ). We will NOT have falling water or wind turbines to generate power like Earth has ( and is used ).

To be honest, I think that an arcology like Arcosanti would be a suitable test environment to find out what works and does not work before we Asgardians commit to living off-planet. There are many remote islands for sale relatively cheap that could allow us to deal with the human psychological issues ( my parent handled psychology issues as an Assistant Administrator at a large California School District ) and these issues can be as important as the physical issues.

Note: I have been busy fixing and calibrating telescopes for tomorrw's eclipse. 98% totality here. I also have to ask if an astrophysics student would have an interest in our group.

I intend to have my blog become more of a way to communicate about possible problems and solutions to meet the goal of having the first self contained habitat off-planet. Any questions are welcome; I'm NOT a person who has all the answers but I will try to research the answers; we may both learn something new to apply toward reaching our common goal.

IIMany of the problems I have observed can be achieved with the proper use of computers. My former boss at Cray Research, is the head of Supergrid Systems. Their goal is to make " smart communities ".

Smart communities have access to all of the considerable knowledge posted on the World Wide Web. The next step is to add more AI to be able to access this store of knowledge AND TALK AND LISTEN TO YOUR REQUESTS IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE. That means more sensor work is necessary. As a worker in the Robotics field, I or a team of experts could give an AI the Ears and voice the computer would need. I worked to support the Translation Department at JD Edwards, which translated their software into 20 different languages. They used Windows, We could use LINUX ( no license required ) or UNIX ( Cray developed UNICOS  a very good UNIX based language ) that DOES required licenses to use.

One good reason to port all applications to LINUX: many of the applications we need are already created for LINUX, including most of the Windows based applications that connect to Windows secret API ( application programmers interface ) to work. ALL areas of the LINUX operating system are available to be modified by hardware or software experts. Asgardia has many more software experts; I'm only a hardware expert. I only do software mods when forced to, like speech recognition.

For Asgardia, I'm willing to donate time and hardware to make this type of " supergrid " technology possible.  How?

One thing I have noticed is the fact that tax breaks for companies is to make many types of physical assents have 0 value after 4 years. Every 4 years, companies by new hardware and sell off the former assets AS CHEAPLY AS POSSIBLE, so as not to incur more tax liabiity! Perfectly good assets are sold off at a pallet load at a time. Many of this equipment is sold off public places, like eBay or Craigslist. Most of my components were sold to me privately. The racked servers were once part of a supercomputer used at NCAR. I'm just upgrading those systems with new components to change from a room full of computer to 2 cabinets of supercomputer.  Much of the pallet loads of equipment of all types gets recycled by throwing things away. Many of the 3rd world countries populations would cry to see these pieces of equipment thrown away. LINUX has one vry good reason to use it; older computers are still supported on LINUX. Windows has a history of making equipment obsolete even when working wth an older version of Windows.

My comment: Make Asgardia be a fully connected supergrid inside our space, or Earthbound habitat. We can secure the habitat and plan for redundancy backup. We Asgardians can use the collective knowledge from our system to solve many problems, from basic health needs to creating learning opptunities and making impossible things into reality. HAIL ASGARDIA, THE NATION-STATE OF THE FUTURE!

Originally, our www, also called the Internet was developed as DARPAnet. At Cray Research, our " burn-in " supercomputers under tests before sending them to customers, were used to help people at CERN  and the US labs that designed our " physics packages " known to others as Hydrogen and tomic bombs. Keeping DARPAnet connections stable was one of my jobs.

Everything that involved communications was STATIC and easy to fix. We had " thumprints " called STATIC MAC ADDRESSES that could easily track down the broken hardware.

NOW, we can have " spoofed " MAC ADDRESSES that can make many connected computers look like ONE computer.

There is no really secure way to protect this problem. The original TCP/IP was never designed for MAC ADDRESS SPOOFING.

For example, say you are expecting a valuable package to be delivered to your house. It has your addresson it and is going to be delivered to that address that was scanned by your postal system.

Some nefarious person wants your package ( think of the DEA, FBI or Homeland Security ) and just uses the SAME ADDRESS SCANNED to intercept your package. That is the problem with spoofed MAC addresses.

A note: I have approximately 10 orginal Network General Sniffers with the ORIGINAL SOFTWARE that will have hardware upgrades like the original equipment I used on DARPAnet. THEY CAN BE USED TO INTERCEPT TCP/IP PACKETS that can be decrypted by a supercomputer like mine or like the ones used by the U.S. Government near Salt Lake City in Utah.

If  you go to excray, you will find that I'm listed there to prove my  bona-fides. The robotics companies went bankrupt shortly after I left.

I  normally shun leader positions, like management positions. If I see the  future of a technology, I'm willing to be a team leader. Several of the  petitions I see support areas I have worked in. I am willing to be a  Technical Manager that handles the many technical issues that must be  used to build our arkology in space. I have also given everyone a way to  help fund the building of the arkology. ( my name for a habitat in  outer space ). As I posted, I'm happiest in my lab(s). E-meetings are  best, I prefer " video visits " but only audio or e-mail is okay but  teamwork can suffer as a result. Yes, I have done these things when they  were expensive. Now, even laptops have these tools for " video visits  ". Colorado has made it MANDATORY to have healthcare providers treat  video visits the same as doctor office visits. That could mean UNIVERSAL  FREE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL ASGARDIANS!

I  was not seeing the forest; I have implemented several computers for  video visits and forgot I could just take snapshots too. Yes, I get my  best problem solutions in the shower. That is also when I solved  problems at Cray Research.

This is me standing next to the unfinished rack of my $10,000 supercomputer. It will use the patented IOS to manage data inputs and outputs. The IOS ( not pictured here ) can have up to to 1.5 PETABYTES of on-line data storage. At Cray Research our MP-64 Project  ( that was canceled due to a CEO I will not mention ) had 64 cores. My system will use 128+ cores in this single rack that I have here. Many of the racks are salvaged from decommisioned supercomputers. The irony: most of the motherboards came from SGI, the company that bought the remains of Cray Research. Many of my co workers still work at sgi.

A lot of time in leadership things are pretty clear cut, but the rest of the time you need to be creative. Not everything is black and white and the people need a person who can see and embrace the grey in the world. People need a charismatic and intelligent leader who will view things from all sides and weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. I feel I am that person. I have lead on a small scale and I have lead on larger scales. I instill confidence in others and can keep things light when the need arises. I thank you for your consideration.

I was raised in Silicon Valley. When I was 10 years old, I was fixing tube televisions. I built all of my test equipment from  Heathkit catalogs. When I was in my teens, I repaired, modified and used Citizen Band 2-way radios. When Personal Computers were designed, I had several S-100 based systems. Working IMSAI and Byte-8 Computers. I worked at Cromemco, then Advanced Micro Devices, testing 9080 CPUs, EE-PROMS, RAM, wafers and finished products.  I learned how to repair and calibrate all of the equipment used at AMD including the $multi-million Test Equipment. I was offered a management job but turned it down. I like to work with equipment more than work with people. I also learned how to work with high power microscopes to repair and test microcircuits and use Micromanipulators

After being trained, I decided to work for Data General because the pay was better and AMD refused to match what Data General paid me. Data Genearl taught me Failure Analysis using the Deming System of Statistical Analysis to reduce failure rates of ANY product.

My next job was my dream  job. Helping Design and Build the Y-MP Supercomputer for Cray Research in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, a one hours drive from my birthplace, Ladysmith, Wisconsin. I used all my skills as a scientist to research the speed of a pulse sent through a single gate of the 5-4 gates and the newly designed 16 gate gate array Cray used to upgrade the X-MP supercomputer being sold at the time. At home, I self-trained as a UNIX System Administrator and installed the X Windows System and dial-up  UUNET connections, becoming a node on UUNET.

When it was decided to eliminate the RESEARCH in Cray Research, our budget was cut-off and Seymour Cray and Dr. Chen ( my boss ) left suddenly. I had to pick up the pieces and turn our data over to the boss. My VP, asked me what I wanted to do. I chose this new thing in communications called DARPAnet. I was trained on TCP/IP, Ethenet Analysis and Sun System Administration ( complementing my self taught UNIX  System Administration ). I was taught all the mechanics of repairing Fiber Optic cables, terminations and  endpoint connectivity for in building copper connections, including cable management.  After dealing with all DARPAnet communications, I was made Network Engineer.  After I used my network repair Sniffer to capture log-ins and passwords, I was made Network Security Engineer and when it was found out I was a PC expert, I got the role of remonving the first PC virii infecting everyone's PCs.

After I was cut loose from Cray ( My VP did the exit interview ), I moved to Colorado to do network contracting jobs all over the Front Range, including work at HP.  I decided that I would like to learn Robotics, because I was a good analog technician. I worked with sensors for Apogee Robotics in Fort Collins. They made Automated Guided Vehicles ( AGVs ) that moved people and materials that were hazardous for people to move.  Shortly before Apogee went out of business, I left to work with a company specializing in stock market transactions. This company was backed by 8 major trading houses to make stock market transactions in 15 minutes istead of 2 days.  I was concerned with the security issues and ended up with a disagreement with my boss.  Yes, we were responsible for creating " day traders ". No, I cannot " day trade " because of SEC  limits.  I ndid PC work for a time, then ended up at JD Edwards. I learned and taught people to use Dragon Dictate after I used it to fill the parts of my trouble tickets.

I left to follow Seymour Cray in Colorado Springs. My friend who actually worked with Seymour and I went to see him  but we were both shocked to learn he just died from  an automobile accident.

I went to work at Continental Divide Robotics. We were designing a Parolee Tracking System, the Skyguard 5000 for BI. I first worked on antenna problems, including working inside a Faraday Cage and at BI, who linked the ankle bracelets to our transmitter.  My boss wanted me to become a Project Manager but I lasted 2 weeks at that job.

I've been a Lab Manager at Bolder Technologies before the company got outsourced.  Now we see layered batteries and power cells designed with our technology today, like LiPo batteries used in drones.

Right now, I'm building a supercomputer to be housed downstairs. I have a friend who  graduated from  MIT with an AI degree. He now works out of Denver on the Google Cars used at the Googleplex in Mountain View, just over 2 miles from where I grew up. My friend will work on applying AI to a supercomputer and I can give it the sensors needed to connect to the outside world BEFORE I put it on line to the World Wide Web.

I would like to get involved with the future of cybernetics on any solution created to make a man habitation at LEO or at the LaGrange Points between the Earth and Moon.  I will be willing to make a one-way trip to install and troubleshoot such a system.. My system  is an update to the technology that the original Cray Systems architecture, including several patented designs I helped develop in the lab. I can use my Robotics experience to add the needed sensors to add needed computer control of a vehicle.

I am excited to help create a new society based on all things great about Earth.   Diversity. Inclusiveness. No hate. Everyone is equal and everyone is important.

HOWEVER, ONE THING THAT'S FRUSTRATING Is that we have a multitude of candidates running all equally as intelligent in their own niche. I would like to show my support to different candidates that represent ideas similar to mine. THE PROBLEM IS WE ONLY HAVE ONE VOTE,  YET MANY LEADERSHIP POSITIONS WE ARE RUNNING FOR!

How does this make any sense or even seem like a fair representation if we can only cast a single vote,

I believe this would not only help establish area groups & connect candidates of similar ideology but it would also get more Asgardians involved in the election if they felt like their voices were getting adaquette representation. .  FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN AMUNG FELLOW CANDIDATES IS SUPPORT VOTES FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO BECAME CITIZENS WITH US, THEN THESE GREAT IDEAS SEEM TO ISOLATE OUR CAMPAIGNS INTO FAMILIAR CIRCLES... I MEAN HECK I'D LIKE TO VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE I THINK HAVE A SOLID CAMPAIGN BUT I CANT CHOSE JUST ONE! ....Let alone the obligation to support local candidates, friends, & family too.

These elections are beyond exciting when you really get into the possibilities and potential we have in front of us. One thing that has been frustrating though is that I see a multitude of candidates running that I would like to show my support to with my vote. The problem is we only have one vote, even though there are many leadership positions we are running for. How does that make sense or even seem fair if we can't cast a couple votes for each position? I feel this would not only help establish area groups or connect candidates with similar ideas but would get more Asgardians involved in the elections.  Because from what I've seen more or less with fellow candidates is we get a few votes from friends and family who became citizens with us. This seems to isolate our campaigns into our own circles... I mean heck I'd like to vote for the people i think have a solid campaign but it almost seems to be an obligation to want to support our friends/family too...

I purpose that we get:

20 votes for debutant level candidates

10 votes for strategist level candidates

5 votes for trendsetter level Candidates

As a new nation i believe it important we decide on a form of trade where we are not solely dependent on the Currencies of other nations. However, Before we can walk we must learn how to crawl so in order for us to build a viable economy we must trade with other nations in their currencies until the value of our services and commodities can support their own currency.

• What would this process look like?

What safeguards shall we have in place to keep us from falling into the pockets of larger nations & industry conglomerates?

How will we transition into an Independent economy capable of issuing its own Currency?

What commodities will we trade?

What services can we offer?

How could we use currency in a way that doesn't incure debt but build towards something that would better our entire species? Something that grows alongside a population in a symbiotic relationship versus a parasitic system

Why would we want a society where the value of our money is based on debt or gold

Both incentives working... Slaving... For two pretty much worthless things in relation to progression of our species... Why not have our money backed by something that directs our species towards an overall goal, or like a community surplus, where we can all get out what we put in, barrow more for when we need it (within acceptable means in some agreed upon structure). Yet still be able to provide the basic essentials for the impoverished to make an ever increasing standard planetary quality of life. Something that will bring equality for all walks to pursue a better life.

If it's true what they say about .1% owning 90% of the worlds wealth I can truely see this being a possibility if we can put aside our focus on bettering me, myself, & mine but rather know we are taken care of at a basic level so we can contribute to the greater good.

Please tell me what ideas you may have!

Private centralized banking is a joke. The fundemental flaw in central banks is that there will never be enough money to pay off their debts. The money is loaned out with interest, which will always be more than the original loan... money loaned out at interest from private banks centralizes power within those banks.

So what does that make us do? Well the exact same thing, we add on a higher value for our services or products to the next person,  and they do the same in an on going pattern. Because we are all working towards a debt that is unplayable. So we are forced to put the value of our family over that of another just to keep our heads above water.

Debt is limiting us as a species from our true potential.

Why not have our currency based on something that can grow with the population in a positive manner? Meaning the more work we put into it, the more we can do with it. Rather than the more we use it, the more it hinders us.

I don't know the answer to this but I think this topic needs a good bit of discussion. Can we create a form of monetary policy that not only provides to our basic survival needs but betters our species as a whole the more we put into it?

What would it look like? The only thing I can think of is some form of tradeable, versatile energy...

Take a look around at the world we live in, it doesn't take long to realize there is something fundamentally wrong with the system we are living under. Why is it that we work our entire lives towards no greater extent then providing for oneself and loved ones? Yes there are those of us who manage to break the mould, beat the system, but we are limited to just providing more for 'me & mine'. There is no common goal, no direction we seem to be headed except work, pay bills, eat, sleep, repeat.

Do we perpetuate this system into the cosmos? Or do we find a common solution where we work as one, a global tribe. Not to be confined by the limitations we impose on one other through acquisition of personal wealth. But rather our potential be what we can achieve when we put all our effort forth towards a common goal?
