If there is no God, then humans must artificially impose meaning on the world.

Given that their understanding of meaning is derived by observation of the world one might conclude there is no net meaning in the world.

As parliamentary elections come to an end, it's good to consider what will happen if many of us spend our remaining lives in space.  After just one year, Scott Kelly's gene expression was permanently altered.  Among the many changes, one in particular caught my eye: the lengthening of his telomeres.  These structures have been linked to cellular aging; could we radically extend our lives by moving into space?

Asgardia’s governmental bodies and officials shall not intervene in elections, put pressure on citizens, or falsify elections.

Lately I've been getting a lot of these "Vote for me" messages. If I vote for you it will be because I agree with your views and feel that you well be a good candidate for Parliament. If I am being pressured into voting for someone I feel less likely to cast my vote for that particular person. Not only that, it goes against the constitution pressuring people to vote for you.

I hereby announce my candidacy for the Parliament of Asgardia, representing District #1.  My platform is focused on four areas: privacy, data security, technology, and exploration.  Though our government is still in its infancy, I believe we can lay the ground work for a promising future.

My first year will focus on communications and digital infrastructure.  In subsequent years we will expand on this to start developing our technology and physical infrastructure, eventually leading towards our first human habitation in space.

Asgardia... I just found you, or was it you that found me? I hope this is a nation that will not fall to lust and greed as my native country has long before my birth. After reading the constitution, I have high hopes. It seems to me that things are being done as they should be - with respects to our humanity. :)

To Treat or not to treat. Varroa mites

At one time chemical treatments were the only option against mites. We now know from breeding projects that it is possible to select bees against Varroa destructor . John Kefuss uses an accelerated breeding program introducing the mite in to a series of hives and choosing the best mite resistors.

By breeding bees for resistant behavior, you can virtually eliminate the need for toxic treatments. Thus saving time, money and boosting the genetic pool.

He coined the term “BOND TEST” live and let die for his first round of testing. As the name indicates those that survive will be most resistant. This would have happened over a period of time naturally but to accelerate the process he introduced the BOND ACCELERATED TEST, (BAT) where they given frames of brood with large quantities of varroa mites to accelerate the elimination of non-resistant lines. This increased the process of selecting resistant strains from 4 years to a period of approx six months.

It is an amazing project and he now produces 3000 mated queens a year in France which he sells world wide. Along with his apiary in Chile he maintains 4000 hives for pollination, queen rearing and honey production. With opposite seasons, they can provide 6000 queens to France in February and March.
