Playgrounds are beautiful things. Most of us played in one at some point in our childhoods, be it at school, at the neighbourhood centre, or by the local library. For me, it was all three. Playgrounds were central to meet-ups with friends. They were the sites of space battles, pirate warfare, western duels, and so much more. As kids you'd go there whenever possible, and as the sun set you'd beg to stay longer, clinging to the monkey bars or sitting adamantly in the sand pit. But now those times are gone, and we are here, members of a sovereign, interstellar nation, the first of its kind. We've come far, and have so much farther to go. But as we ride on into the stars, let us not forget our simple childhoods – our playgrounds that gave rise to the dreams and ambitions which led us to where we are today.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I recently learned about Asgardia, and immediately became one! I am hoping to get elected to the Parliament, so I thought posting my platform in my first blog will help you to get to know me. Here are my thoughts....today, Humanity, with your help, has a chance to redeem itself and  change the course of human history. Together let’s join this “Grand  Staircase to the Stars”. We, as one borderless nation, have an  opportunity to make the next generations free of conflict and  divisiveness that has been the plague of society for millennia. I, for  one, want to leave a mark on the world and see it become a better place  than when I entered it. I feel there is no greater way to help one  another than to work together with common bonds, common goals, and  common sense of purpose while surrounded by generosity and love. I want  to work with you, and beside you, not above you. Please vote for me and I  will work tirelessly to listen to your suggestions and make EVERYONE  part of the decisions that will help us all move forward together as we  climb to the stars. I will not serve to make my decisions, rather I will  serve to make OUR decisions. A vote for me a will mean your voice WILL  be heard. Godspeed, everyone!

I saw the article about Asgardia, and I was floored. Shocked. Had goosebumps.

In my lifetime, I will get to see mankind go into space.  My children may have the chance to make the trip. Their own children would have the chance to live their entire lives on Mars.

When I was a child, I won an Honorable Mention for an essay I wrote, entitled, "My Future In Space".  I longed to be an astronaut. I was accepted to the Air Force Academy, to be in the first class of female astronauts.

I had to learn to fly to go.

My Uncle had a 4 seater Cessna. He and his son had licenses. I was going to learn to fly.

My first lesson was on a hot August afternoon, 1974. Bill landed at North Vineland Airport, and I was waiting there with our Grandma. I boarded the plane, and sat beside Bill...I was to be co-pilot.

We were in the air for over an hour.  Since Bill was going to stay for a visit, and had to be back to the airstrip near their home in Brick by dinner, we cut the flight short and landed.

When I disembarked, Grandma was waiting. "Did you enjoy your flight, honey?" she asked.

I promptly responded by barfing on Grandma's sensible shoes.

So much for the Air Force Academy. I became a Chemistry teacher, graduating with a dual major in 4 years. The insane amount of work for a totally crappy yearly salary of $10K drove me to abandon teaching for a ludicrous job as a casino employee in Atlantic City.

Those were crazy days. Those were the best of times; the world was my oyster.

Fall 1986 I returned to education, as an Honors 8th Science teacher, finally at a decent salary.

Over 3 decades flew by...bought a home, new cars. Had twins after 10 years of marriage, ex walked out when the boys were 3 months old. Life moved so fast I could feel the wind on my face, couldn't catch my breath as I multitasked before anyone knew what it was.

Divorced, raised kids, helped parents. Good times, happiness and sunshine filled our days. The boys grew and thrived. Within 18 months, I was accepted to law school, my Daddy died, Mom came out of remission (stage 3 ovarian cancer) and died 2 months shy of my 40th birthday. The boys were nearly 7.

In 20 years' time, I met my husband, we got together. He helped me raise my sons, and keep my promise to my Mom that I would get my advanced degrees. I finally taught High School and College Chemistry.

10 years ago, my sons were finishing high school, on the brink of adulthood. I wasn't feeling well. my bloodwork came back very irregular. My doctors told me to stop teaching or I would die. I retired in 2010. The search began.

The boys were finishing college. Jon graduated, went into the military and built himself a marvelous career, traveled the word, found himself a fantastic wife. Matt graduated later, two majors and a membership in a jazz combo. He works in prescription research and formulation, and plays six instruments.

in the meantime, my health issues began to drop like dominoes. Cardiac issues, then the lump in my neck hardens. Could it be I had cancer in my thyroid?? My thyroid was removed a day before my 54th birthday. No cancer. The blood counts seem to worsen. Within 6 months, I had my first period since 1999. Doc gives me pills to stop the bleeding so I can travel to Jon's bootcamp graduation in SC. I took the pills. The bleeding worsened.

Upon inspection, I was found to be full of tumors in my pelvis and uterine area. One tumor was the size of a 16 week pregnancy. After the 2 hour surgery turned into over 6 hours, I wound up in ICU. I could not breathe, and nearly died.

I had stage 1b=2 uterine carcinosarcoma. A 39% chance of living 60 months.

8 months of chemo, radiation, brachytherapy dragged by. Lumps in my left breast were benign. Bones in my right hand deteriorated, needed reconstruction and therapy. Numbness from the waist down was neuropathy, from surgeries, chemo and radiation. I was incontinent. I never knew what the next day would bring.

I was cancer-free 4 years the end of March 2017. Sadly, the cousin who helped me most, who was like my big sister, lost her battle with squamous cell carcinoma just before my birthday in 2016. I was by her side every step of the way.

Every day is 1 step at a time. I look forward to what the next day will bring. If today is good, tomorrow will be better. I see these first steps into space as hopeful and joyous events, that will assure the survival of mankind. I want to live to see this all unfold.

Chapter 2.

General Provisions

Article 1. Name of the Nation

The terms “Space Kingdom of Asgardia” and “Asgardia” are synonymous.

Article 2. Status

Asgardia is the first independent, free, unitary, and social Space Nation, which is transethnic and secular, is based on morality, fairness, peace, and the equal dignity of every human being, looks to the future and the infinite Universe, and is a Kingdom.

Article 3. Mission

To ensure the existence and development of the Space Kingdom of Asgardia and the new space humanity.

Article 4. Supreme Values of Asgardia

1. Asgardia’s Supreme Values shall be the common and permanent foundations of the self-identification of Asgardian citizens, which form the commonality of Asgardian society and lie at the heart of the objectives and activities of Asgardia’s governmental bodies, citizens, and associations.
2. The Constitution and laws of Asgardia, as well as the activities of its governmental bodies, shall implement and protect Asgardia’s Supreme Values.
3. Asgardia’s absolute supreme value is humanity striving into the infinite future, the infinite Universe, and infinite new Universes.
4. Asgardia’s Supreme Values in fulfilling its Mission are:
   • a:peace in space and peaceful settlement of the Universe;
   • b:ensuring equality of opportunity in space for all Asgardian citizens;
   • c: Safeguarding all of humanity from space-originating threats;
   • d: Unity of space humanity as a community;
   • e: Human dignity, human rights and freedoms, and the harmonious development of individuals;
   • F: Human happiness, life, love, children and family, and the propagation of human species;
   • supremacy of Asgardia’s laws;
   • preservation of space environment;
   • community and mutual support;
   • scientific and artistic creativity, and the belief in the boundless potential of human reason, knowledge, labour, and progress;
   • peace, tranquility, safety, security, respect, and confidence;
   • morality, fairness, and freedom;
   • harmonious existence of individuals, society, and the nation.
5. Asgardia’s Supreme Values shall be equally important and equally implemented in the governmental administration. However, the absolute supreme value of Asgardia shall prevail over all Supreme Values.
6. Asgardia’s Supreme Values shall apply to the relations with people and the States of Earth, as well as any discovered alien intelligence.
7. It is prohibited to undermine or diminish the Supreme Values of Asgardia. Asgardia and its citizens shall implement and protect its Supreme Values from internal and external infringement

As a nation that clearly states that it will mirror earth, but not be like it. Will marijuana and other substances (to a certain extent) be legal in the space nation? I'm sure we'd all love a 'THAT 70'S SHOW' spinning camera sequence while gazing into the galaxy. Agree? Disagree? I'd love to read your perspective!

I apologize if the pictures being posted are very pixelated. Regardless, after reading most of the constitution, skimming through some of it, the question came up? If the technology is available, are Asgardians allowed to use their own spaceships? I know I read in the constitution that we can participate in like space exploration, but I'm sure that's for government work. So the question is, are we allowed to freely travel through space, with our own ships. Or are the elected officials not to keen on the idea? If you agree, or disagree, I'd love to read your perspective!

What if one day we could "grow" buildings and other various structures and even electronics?  If you think about the resources required to build a city and towns and to construct electronics require materials that are becoming steadily more rare as the demand increases.  However, the one most abundant material on Earth are biological material.  The resources all living biological beings require are certain minerals to sustain its own growth and with composting we can always replenish those minerals in a non-harmful way.

This idea isn't new and in fact it's technological basis of the aliens called the Taelons in Gene Roddenberys Earth: Final Conflict.  From their Mothership to the buildings they constructed on Earth were all biologically based.  This technology is far off into the future, but advances have been made such as Harvard scientists saving data onto colonies of bacteria to even utilizing the science of synthetic biology in order to achieve this.

This is truly one of the reasons why I joined Asgardia, a place where people can come together and work in solidarity with each other to achieve the highest potential of humanity.  Sure, it would be nice if we could do this on Earth, but the political structures in place in each of our native countries does not allow this collaboration to occur.  Instead, we are divided by borders and thus the potential of humanity can not be realized.  Working alongside my fellow biological science based comrades perhaps we can quash the borders that separate us and, as Asgardians, help each other and others realize ther full human potential.
