I'm super excited about the concept of Asgardia.  It is exciting to think there are so many Earthlings out there that just want to be known as Human and not as a singular race, religious sect, political view or economic standing.  Can't wait to see what comes next!  It will be exciting to see what kind of scientific findings, thought processes, etc. will come from this new form of exploration beyond the limits of gravity and landmasses.

Despite the widespread use of paper money, most people aren’t aware that fiat currency is a promise by a bank or government to honor the value printed on the paper itself. Whether or not those promises will ever be upheld when push comes to shove remains to be determined. So far, the system seems to work just fine, unless you live in Venezuela, where j aw-dropping hyperinflation has been robbing the Venezuelan fiat of its value for over a decade now .

A new form of money backed by consensus rather than centralized authority promises something else entirely. And you have probably already heard of it, it is called cryptocurrency.

A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency, and arguably its most endearing allure, is its organic nature; it is not issued by any central authority, rendering it theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation.

However, because cryptocurrencies are virtual and do not have a central repository, a digital cryptocurrency balance can be wiped out by a computer crash if a backup copy of the holding does not exist. Since prices are based on supply and demand, the rate at which a cryptocurrency can be exchanged for another currency can fluctuate widely.

Cryptocurrencies are not immune to the threat of hacking. In Bitcoin’s short history, the company has been subject to over 40 thefts, including a few that exceeded $1 million in value. Still, many observers look at cryptocurrencies as hope that a currency can exist that preserves value, facilitates exchange, is more transportable than hard metals, and is outside the influence of central banks and governments.

Another source of concern—that bitcoin is dicey because it lacks “intrinsic value”—is a weak argument. In truth, almost nothing in the world of trading and money has “intrinsic value.” Money has only the value that is ascribed to it over time. Fiat currency, issued by nations, has always faced distrust from skeptics who say it is backed only a government’s good faith. That helps explain the nostalgia for the gold standard, when dollars and other government paper represented a fractional interest in gold.

Dig a bit deeper, however, and it becomes clear that gold itself has no intrinsic value. Its supply is limited (as is bitcoin, a strength of the digital currency), creating a relationship between supply and demand that cannot easily be manipulated. But gold itself has no value per se other than that ascribed to it by humans over time. It’s easy to believe in its value because people have done so for thousands of years, but that doesn’t translate into actual value, only greater trust.

While bitcoin may have only the value that its users ascribe to it, that in and of itself says nothing about what price it should command or whether it is a viable digital alternative to traditional currencies. All new mediums of exchange spawn skepticism, and should. For much of the 19th century, paper money was held in ill repute because it seemed so ephemeral and detached from value that could be easily recognized: land, gold, size of armies.

Truth be told, there is no reason for people to remain skeptical about Bitcoin. In fact, the concept of paper money hasn’t been universally received all that well either, which isn’t entirely surprising.

My platform is extremely simple. I would love to serve in parliament to ensure a free and sustainable Asgardia. With a focus on education and research to help build the technology that will take us into space. I believe for humanity to survive we need to have a viable habitat in the next 25 to 50 years outside the comfort of Earth. This includes the need to develop space travel techniques and technology to push us beyond our solar system.

I am also a Husband and Father to 4 wonderful daughters that I hope one day can explore beyond our solar system.

Good day to all I am starting this blog in hopes that some of us could do a meet and greet here in Phoenix Arizona. I believe this would help us all to solidify our commitment to asgardia and to help facilitate our growth together and help each other in times of need or for when we just want to talk to and relax with fellow like minded people.

Questions on Asgardian constitution that should be addressed within constitution:

* Head of Nation can dissolve parliament - under what circumstances? What happens if it is dissolved?

* Who determines what is moral vs. immoral?

* How is territory of new locations determined? The whole moon? The whole planet? Can people protest governmental decisions?

* Laws are passed by referendum. What about initiative?

* What happens if earth countries disagree with Asgardian methods of protection of earth?

* Are there plans for an armed police or military force?

* What rights do citizens have to protect themselves, either from citizens, non-citizens or from intrusive government interactions?

*Definition of voluntary tax?

* If prisons are prohibited, how are criminal sentences carried out? Is there the ability to appeal rulings?

* What kinds of legal ramifications in using Asgardian symbols as part of protest? How does this equate with freedom of speech.

* 2nd and subsequent Heads of Nation can only serve until 65 or is that the oldest they can be elected? What is maximum term limit? Why can first head of state lead for 30 years until 82? Will first ONLY serve 5 years? Will there be an election every 5 years or does current head decide to remain for another 5 years?

In my opinion all of these questions need to be absolutely clear so there can be no misinterpretation should a legal proceeding arise.

What matters in space? Well, of course, firstly and most important, is our ability to survive in space. Medical studies and experiments, tell us that our biology weakens while in zero gravity. So, it is our hope, that Asgardia, when preparing to build it's first stations for habitation, will seek to correct the zero gravity effects. This is among other potential obstacles such as radiation, sustainable resources for food and water, oxygen, redundant power systems, etc.

When the most basic of impediments is resolved, we can consider other elements. This would include mental and emotional stability. Not everyone in space will handle it the same. Some may be very vulnerable to loneliness, space sicknesses, cabin fever, delusions, and so on.
There will need to be an emphasis on mental health, rehabilitation, and companionship programs. These will help Asgardians adjust to their new environments.

Next, we are looking at crimes. Asgardia itself is a new approach to human longevity and future planning, and it's pursuit, is one of progressive nature, therefore, we must develop new ways of handling crimes.
These issue would be best reflected through the approaches that successful nations on Earth have handled crime. The United States is by far, one of the worst examples of how to deal with crime. But many other countries, have handled it differently, providing rehabilitation, community function, and non-stigmatizing programs to keep people from feeling isolated.

Finally, family planning. Initially, Asgardia will be a limited scope nation in space. It's resource allotment is based around the bodies it knows to have, and plans for. This means that initially, there may be a requirement for population growth. Couples may be required to use protection, receive reversible surgeries, or abstain until a population policy is put into place.
There could be consequences for births onboard without consent from officials, and while this is by no means an official statement, it's possible you could see couples who are expecting, sent back to Earth for the safety of the baby, and proper population control.

So these are just a few matters in space to consider.

Throughout history there have been great leaders. These leaders have taken countries around the world to great heights then ever expected. Yet we are not talking about this world, anymore are we? Instead we are speaking about our future, as a space fairing race. Where the ground will no longer be beneath our feet, but a universe in the palm of our hands.

I am no one special, I am on the other hand, attentive. I have paid attention to the world around me, seen the changes that have happened and became appalled by these things. Change does not come from rioting in the streets or writing a blog. Change comes from the effort we put in, to alter the direction of something. Currently the direction we are going is clearly wrong and there is a time now for that very change that we so desperately need.

I propose this, equality. No classes, no races, no lines in the sand that have created much of the conflict we all know too well. Remove the need for these things and watch a community flourish. It becomes easier to help out your fellow wo/man when socioeconomic issues are removed. If we move forward, if we do this, it is perhaps the most important change that needs to take place.
