I just had a conversation with a MP of Asgardia, He had posted something on the Facebook page in regards to building a new nation and doing so "Without Pay". However, according to the 2019 Asgardia Budget, Members of Parliament should be receiving a monthly compensation of 500 Euros.

Does this mean that the budget was a lie? A kind of click bait for us little people to show us that yes they have a budget of 10 Million Euros.

Was it a lie?

When I created my personal budget I started with my monthly paychecks. How much i brought in. Then went through my bills and listed those (including when they were due). So Paycheck, rent, credit card, car payment, insurance, food, entertainment, savings...etc. etc. I know exactly where each of my Dollars goes to.

I am having trouble understanding what Asgardia is up to.

I have not paid nor will I pay the Citizenship Fee, nor will I invest 1000 euros into Asgardia, until they give us clear goals, business plans etc.

Will Asgardia add its own news to the site or continue to copy other news agencies articles?

We demand and deserve our very own news service that will report in there own way the news happenings of the day, week, month, year etc. etc.

I constantly see articles written about something Space related, but its not written by Asgardia, its only copied.

When they interview someone of importance like an MP or Minister or HON, they never state whom the interviewer is/was...why is this? We deserve to know whom they are, and they deserve to be made known.

I feel that things need to change for the better before people regain trust in Asgardia and in Asgardian officials. How can we do this?

First lets just say that with recent scandels such as the Citizenship Fee and now the National Symbols (if you dont know about this, basically the people voted on Symbols such as the Flag and Coat of Arms, those that won should have been selected. However, my understanding is that they took the best of each of the symbols and put them into something that the people did not vote upon. The MPs just voted to approve the Flag and Coat of Arms., I'm not sure about the National Anthem though, who chose that etc.).

1. Transparency

a. Parliamentary sessions should be open and available to all Asgardians to view.

b. Skype, FB Live, Twitch, Youtube, MS Teams etc. should be used to televise Parliamentary sessions.

c. Meetings minutes shall be published no later than 24 hours after sessions ended.

d. Closed door meetings shall have meeting minutes taken and or a video record of it. Shall be made available upon official request through proper channels.

e. Committees shall be published with MPs names etc and meeting minutes shall be taken. Committees shall be video televised except upon being closed door meeting.

2. MPs

a. shall be named and listed on the official Asgardia website, complete with where they are from, Nation of origin, contact information including email/post address. (afterall we should be able to contact them).

b. MPs committees shall be published (what committees do they belong to).

c. How MPs voted shall be made available

d. MPs official duties shall be made public

3. Mayors

a. Who are they?

b. What are there duties, responsibilities?

c. Do they have a city council?

d. who elects this city council?

e. who do they (mayor and staff), answer to?

f. Shall hold all meetings in a public forum such as those listed in 1b above.

4. Ministers

a. shall be made available via email/post mailing address

b. see 1b above

5. Head of Nation

a. Shall make it known to all his intentions

b. hold once a month meetings with the people a video chat or send a message to all Asgardians, with what is going on with Asgardia. This will help to quell the rumors, and inject facts into the conversation.

Those are some of my ideas. Maybe one day we will have some transparency in this. Hopefully soon.

Asgardia, thus far has not been recognized by any Nation. However, it has been noticed by many. One such Nation is the tiny Nation of Seychelles. This is (in my opinion) a very important first step. I feel as if Asgardia sends Representatives to various small Nations around the world to talk about what Asgardia is, how many people we have and what the hopes are, we could get more recognition. Maybe we should have small embassies opened in each of these Nations, especially if they have a few Asgardian Residents living in Country.

Well they are at it for the next couple of days, discussing the future of Asgardia. They need to discuss the Citizenship fee, and transparency and auditing and accountability. Oh and they need to televise this by live streaming on Twitch or Youtube or Facebook live. Nothing should be closed doors as it is now.

Oh and they kicked out 3 members of Parliament for misconduct and issued warnings to two other MPs. Nice at least state what they did, the exact nature of what they did. I know it was misconduct on official communication channels of Asgardia, which means either here on the Asgarida Website thru forums etc or on the Facebook pages.

A lot is being said on Facebook. Many people are stating they are leaving due to the email that is going around that states "pay the 100 euros or leave". I dont blame them for leaving. Nothing the MPs or Founder/Head of Nation does is transparent, it reeks of a scam in progress or a video game/RPG in progress. Nations are not built overnight, but we should have oversight and transparency and accountability.

They told me to put my concerns and suggestions to a petition. Petitions need 1000 votes to go up the chain. Non-thus far to my knowledge have passed with the needed 1000 votes.

The MPs and Head of Nation need to listen to the people more closely. Otherwise this project is done. Many people are already leaving and many cannot afford to pay the 100 euro citizenship fee. One MP told me that she pays in monthly installments of 8-10 euros/month. While there is no option for other people to do that. I wonder how that happened? How can one MP be allowed to pay monthly while the rest of us have to pay the entire fee upfront?

So I'm trying to get the answers to these questions, but no one seems to know anything about it. As I understand it, the fee goes to help with the creation of the government offices, Parliament (MPs), Mayors etc. But who really controls the money? Does it sit in the Head of Nations Pocket book? Afterall, he is the King.

I ask these questions with only the best of intentions in mind. I want everyone who follows me to understand that I have their best intentions in mind when I ask these questions. After all, not everyone can afford this 100 euro fee to be a Resident "Citizen" of Asgardia" as we have seen with only 17K people becoming Residents. The rest have either chosen not to pay the fee or have not been able to afford the fee or have not accepted the Constitution and other documents.

1. Who controls the 100 euro fee?

2. What bank does this 100 euro fee go to?

3. What auditing company was hired to audit the books, in this case the 100 euro fee?

4. Is the money going to be kept in a public fund or private fund?

5. Transparency is key here, whats being done to accomplish this?

So far one MP has not been able to answer this as these questions were never brought up before them.

I am member 17515 if I am reading my ID Card correctly. I have always believed in the concept of Asgardia, The First Space Nation. As an Aerospace Engineer and Programmer I wanted to help develop Asgardia Space station/plateform. However, I now know that will not happen as I am only one man and designing a space station takes huge teams of people to design and test it. But I can help in other ways, i'm sure.

It has been two years since Asgardia has become a Nation. Well in our eyes anyway. Not in the eyes of the rest of the world. We must promote our New Nation to anyone who will listen. Write positive articles in local newspapers or online. Right now the world is interested in Space exploration due to the likes of SpaceX,  Virgin Galatic, NASA, and now the Chinese are landing a Moon Lander this coming January 2019 on the dark side of the moon. Elon Musk is planning on showing the world his Start Ship design sometime this coming year, already I have seen photos of it. Amazing stuff. So why can't Asgardia as of yet fly in the eyes of the Peoples of Earth? Because most people see Asgardia as a Joke, a Space Kingdom, come on they say, what video game are you playing?

All we have in Space right now is Asgardia-1, which is doing no science at all. its just in orbit possibly being uploaded with peoples messages, its cool and flashy but not what most of us expected. Real science needs to be done. Most micro satellites have some sort of purpose other than hosting our messages. I say we develop more micro satellites that monitor space weather, our earth weather, Asgardian Communications and Video (T.V.), Monitor the North and South Poles, monitor our climate and amount of ICE etc. That way we can become a true scientific nation that is being taken seriously by others.

We must set up micro offices around the world in various cities that our citizens live in that way we can all meet, work and get to know one another. We can have the flag, our anthem and our official seal proudly hanging on the walls etc.

We need to stand up our Financial institutions and fast, so we can get money to our people. So we can also give out Government Grants to those of us who can use them to better our New Nation and the Earth. Right now we have a very limited Government with no real institutions in place. People cannot afford to pay 100 euros to become citizens, I feel right now 10 or 25 euros would be best, and as our Government stands up, raise the fee to 100 euros. Lets include everyone. This Nation is to be inclusive of all peoples from around the world, but many cannot afford the fee. Lower it or wave it until the financial institutions are set up.

Citizenship!

Many people have stated the Fee for citizenship is too much. 100 Euros is high but not that high. I can afford to pay it. However, I am one of the first 17000 citizens to join from the beginning, and thus do not have to pay this fee for 2019, but after that who knows. At that time I joined because, I like so many others believed in the promise of living, breathing and working in Space. To bring about a better future for all.

Do I support the Citizenship FEE? NO, not at this time. We should first stand up a citizenship commission to evaluate what is expected of our citizens, Taxes, fees, a financial system all must be taken into account before issuing a fee. To many unanswered questions about this Fee, what does it go for? Who controls the money? What do we get for this 100 EURO Fee?

I understand a Nation needs taxes/Fees to get things accomplished. However, when you have people from poorer Nations that can't afford to pay this, it makes it a HAVE's vs. HAVE NOT's situation. It means that those of us who can afford to pay, get to play.

Lets first look at standing up our Financial institution and getting the Cryptocurrency (Solar) up and running. I've read that it could take up to 5 years to get this going. Thats not good enough if you ask me, people will begin to leave Asgardia.

The Citizenship fee has become law over my objections as to one, the process outlined at the first session of Parliament in Vienna was not followed and two, the lack of sufficient consideration for those who do not have the  economic means to pay the 100 euro Citizenship fee.

I think the very first topic of conversation should be on how we can let our governing body know our wants and desires. As a nation grows it becomes impossible to hear every voice. The mob mentality tends to drown out the individual and what drives each person as an individual. I would like to suggest we establish a law against lobbying however. It has made the voice of an individual worthless as much larger pockets dictate policy. I also suggest we make a governing branch specifically designed to keep the interests of the population as individuals in mind. Such as what is good for the majority not necessarily what is good for the largest pocket. I’ll end my points there so I can hear what everyone has to say. Let me know what your ideas are as well as your criticism of mine.

I would like to start off with that I would like everyone to know I am in no way an expert and everything is my opinion. I would like this to be an area of open and respectful debate about policies both political and moral.

Hello everyone, my name is Svetlana Novikova . I am here today as a candidate running for Asgardia’s position of a mayor of Los Angeles. Asgardia is one of a kind organization of the future.
I'm the one who is looking forward for the future, for new innovative approaches to the issue of becoming a part of the new society, unique and united. I am here to represent my life positioning and my statements.

First of all I’m here as a mother. I believe that every parent is looking for the bright and successful future for their children. When we talk about the future we talk about Asgardia and it’s followers because it gives new opportunities that never have been given before.

My second point is education. Education is the most important part of out life at any age. We get an experience while we are learning, and I believe that Asgardia gives us new knowledge and experience we can use.

And finally it is very important to make right decisions in any field of our experience.
What holds us back is not our lack of ability or any life circumstances. What holds us back is ourself.

There are many other things that have to be done...
But even more important than that, we need to encourage community to follow their ingenuity and invest in their ideas.
I'm recommending and supporting innovative programs that come out of my experience and open new horizons.

Costs of Transportation

In reality, why would anyone use public services if private services can do the same thing more efficiently? Private bus or car services are more pleasant and just as cost effective. Privatization could potentially save billions. Privatizing public bussing has the potential to save government entities $5.7 billion a year, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Some researchers will argue that public transit is a monopoly. The government doles out tax dollars and subsidies to transit companies which allow them to operate in environments where some other ventures wouldn’t be able to. The downfall is that the government regulates all non-governmental transportation services, which can drive private business operators out of the market.

But, even with all the government help, most metro areas have budgets insufficient for maintaining their public transit systems. New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) carries more than 6 million passengers every day and has a $15 billion budget; yet, it is constantly in danger of shutting down. Private companies like Chariot and Uber Pool run without subsidies, yet still continue to have infusions of cash from venture capitalists.

Many would argue that the private sector is the better option. The private sector can innovate, use new technology, and consider customer input in ways government can’t. Government can only worry about the customers it is currently serving.

When thinking about public transportation, consider the costs associated with:

• Being a slave to transit schedules
• Space and privacy limitations on crowded trains or buses
• Unforeseen delays from adverse weather conditions or mechanical failures
• Close proximity to strangers
• Paying for every trip, both one-way and round-trip

However, though there are certainly many negatives to public transportation, we can’t ignore the positives.

Public Transportation Benefits

Cities with public transportation have the opportunity to offer transit service to the underserved. The local government can also choose to provide vouchers for people considering private options.

Chariot of San Francisco has recently met with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and offered to work with them in filling the gaps in underserved areas. Since one-fifth of Chariot trips are to or from public transit stops, the agency can collaborate with private services to improve the public transportation system.

Transportation projects can also positively impact a community’s economic development objectives, like increased productivity, new employment, new business activity, increased property values, new investment and increased tax revenues.

Transportation projects that improve overall accessibility to businesses, retail, education, and employment, and reduce transportation costs, can increase economic development and productivity.

When you live in a region with reliable public transit, the American Public Transport Association reports that you can save over $10,000 per year on transportation costs. The estimate of savings includes the costs associated with car payments, maintenance, repairs, fuel costs, and parking fees.

Many people choose alternate transit options for other reasons, such as

• Reducing one’s carbon footprint
• Increased well-being and decreased stress from driving
• Time gained to work, read or relax
• Decreased wear and tear on personal vehicles
• Health benefits from walking to and from public transit stops or stations
