Since Asgardia heralds the dawn of a new civilization, the new nation's symbolism should reflect the new age of mankind that represents a break from the past. The flags of space nations, starting with Asgardia, should be portrait orientation instead of landscape orientation. This differentiates it from the flags of land-based earth nations, and the portrait orientation also represents a rocket carrying mankind soaring UPWARDS, or descending to earth DOWNWARDS. This up/down motion symbolised by a portrait flag is in contrast to the left-right symbolism of all the other nation’s landscape flags (Nepal aside), which represent expansionism outwards to other lands not upwards into space. The black field in this flag design represents space, and the silver-coloured circle represents metals such as titanium, aluminium and silver, but especially iron and steel. These metals are of utmost importance in space exploration technology, and iron has always been historically important in mankind’s civilizational advancements. The Iron-coloured circle in the middle of a black space field also represents the earth’s iron core, and the earth floating in space. Purple has been included as a prominent colour, again to distinguish Asgardia from other countries, because there is no other country which has purple as a visible feature on their flag. Purple has many connotations so you can use your imagination as to what it represents, however it could be mainly thought of as a neutral colour in-between the extremes of red and blue (neutrality between nations), and it also represents bravery and something rare. The inhabitants and citizens of Asgardia are rare (relatively few in number) and brave to face the risks of starting a new space nation. There are 12 serration spikes on the flag, made of 24 lines. These represent 12 hours on the clock, 12 months of the year, and 24 hours of the Earth-day. You can read on the internet about many other interesting connotations of the numbers 12 and 24 which might or might not be relevant. The national insignia of Asgardia can also be shown inside the iron circle in alternate flag variants, similar to how it is done on the Russian and Spanish flag variants.

LANGUAGE POLICY: It is also suggested that the official language of Asgardia should be either Klingon, Navi, Esperanto or Interlingua, with Esperanto being the obvious choice since it is already well developed and studied by millions worldwide. This is because it is impossible to have a nation without having a unifying language, and Esperanto was especially designed to be an easy-to-learn neutral international language that was never implemented according to its intention. Implementing English or another widely-spoken language as official will only reinforce cultural domination of one region or section of mankind over others. It is also suggested that a new neutral script (writing system) could be developed to write Asgardian Esperanto, again to signify a new dawn of civilization and because Latin-based scripts have far too much world domination these days. On the website Omniglot there are already many suggestions for new invented scripts that could be used to write Esperanto or any language. Due to Esperanto grammar, in Asgardian-script the nation’s name would have to be written as “Asgardo” or “Asgardio”, but written in Latin script as Asgardia. On the Asgardian space station itself, all signs and spoken announcements should be bilingual or trilingual in Asgardian Esperanto, English and another prominent language like Russian or Chinese. All Asgardian citizens should be taught Esperanto in the Asgardian script, and speaking it should be a compulsory requirement in order to actually live on the space station itself.
